  1. If we take a trip in the way back time machine to the mid Eighties, you would find me in the market for a new RC truck. If you were a fan of monster trucks and RC, your choices were limited. There wasn't much in the market for dedicated monsters. There were trucks based on pan car chassis, a few smaller scale kits like the Lunch Box and Midnight Pumpkin, and some obscure ones like the Big Grizzly and Royal Crusher, and let's not forget the Big Bear. At this time, I was really wanting the Pumpkin. I saved all the money I could and was ready to pull the trigger. So the day came when my dad and I went to the hobby shop to get the truck. I looked around with my RCCA classifieds intent on getting the MP, when my dad spotted something completely new and bigger. Suffice it to say, when we left the store I was a proud owner of a Tamiya Blackfoot. My pop even helped me out on the price difference 'cause he knew that the BF was the better choice. Not that the Pumpkin is a slouch by any means. My purchase consisted of the kit, a Protech 702 charger, and a 6 cell Gonzo battery pack. I had a transmitter and receiver already. Fast forward a couple years to when I made a new friend in junior high. We both shared common interests, RC being one of them. So one day I brought over my Blackfoot to show off, and then he brings out his Monster Beetle. I'm like, Whats that all about then??! This kid's got the mother of orv's! The red body, gold wheels, and those beautiful CVA shocks. If memory serves, he even had a Thorp differential. Awestruck isn't a good enough term. Well, time flies by but the memories remain. So now that Tamiya has been re releasing its old school inventory, I picked up a Beetle and this is her story.... I'll post the build pics and continue on with upgrades/changes along the way. Oh, the sight of a NIB model. Look at it, look at it..... The backbone of the Beetle. Notice I am adding aluminum option parts. Yeah baby. No fooling around here. The single most important upgrade you can bestow upon your orv: An MIP ball differential. Added more option parts. And the awesome yellow CVA shocks. Insane amount of speed and torque. A wicked new OFNA red HD servo saver. Traded out the 540 motor and kit esc, replaced them with a Traxxas 12T 550 and XL5 esc. Another angle and a shot of the alloy pinion cover. Aluminum body supports. This rig is rock solid. Started out with Proline Badlands 2.2's on gold anodized aluminum rims and alloy knock offs. Looking tidy. Aluminum chassis skid plate. Battery door must be removed for this. Bolts right to the gearbox. JG Mfg front tower brace. So I went ahead and bought a white Sand Scorcher body off fleabay to use as an everyday basher body. I ordered some custom decals from the UK 'cause I liked the color combo. After a few runs, I was made blatantly aware that the tires were way too soft and the alloy rims wouldn't hold them without glue. Since the wheels are more for show and I already put a couple nicks on them, they were replaced with the kit wheels and tires. Sooooo much better. After about a week or so, I got tired of the white and removed the decals (they were kinda crappy to begin with - quality wise), primed it up and repainted the body and finished her off with the kit decals and three coats of clear coat. Oh, and the B-pillar, door handles and side trim are blessed with bare metal foil. About the paint scheme, I found an image online of a Beetle someone owned back in the day and fell in love with it. So I copied it. Look carefully and you can see the rare JG mfg front bumper. I also added some light pods behind it since the Sand Scorcher body doesn't support the MB's baja lights on the nose cone. Ooh yeah, 7 cells baby! Not going LiPo on this bug. The 12T motor and 7 cell pack is stupid fast already. It would be uncontrollable with a brushless LiPo setup. Installation of lights. Dark outside? No problem. Twiningmike HD steering rod kit. Ultra rare NOS You-G aluminum dampers. More images to come soon. Let me know what you think. Cheers.
  2. Hello While moving piles of modelkits from the attic to my new 'mancave' I dug up my old Tamiya Fox. I bought it om my 12th birthday (1988) and it was my first and only RC car. It seemed in good shape, the radio still works even after a drop from the first floor (they did make things of quality these days did'nt they?). So i decided to buy new battery (Lipo? Nimh? whaaw things have changed since then) and it ran as 30 years ago. Time to take it apart and see in what shape it really is. The inside looks clean. The MSC needed lubrification badly The dogbones needed claening (dust) and grease Aaawch. Splits in the rear upper and lower arms Time to order Novafox parts and take a break
  3. Hi All, Was just wondering if anyone would know best tires setup for brushless WT01, as the original spike tires does not have any grip at all, the only best grip I can get out of this tires is on grass. Have anyone try the tires for HSP or redcat from ebay? are the any good? Thanks
  4. Hi All, As my Bio states I'm a 40 something Dad with 6 yr old son getting back into Tamiya RC Cars and I'm the proud owner of a new Super Clodbuster. Can someone point in the direction of a UK retailer where I can buy upgrades/tune ups that doesn't require buying from the US via eBay? I've searched and searched. Modelsport.co.uk seem ok but a bit limited in stock and very difficult to search. Appreciate the help.
  5. Hello , i recently purchased this tamiya grasshopper nib kit , i believe it is not a re - release but lots of people on facebook have been telling me otherwise , what is this ? Thanks for your help
  6. Hello Tamiyaclub! Some of you may know me, as I was very heavy into RC from 2007-2014. Did many builds on this forum. I've had major life changes, and am starting to clear out my massive collection of RC parts. Starting with all the NIB bodies I have.Treasure trove of new in package RC car bodies. Some have wheels/tires. Most are from about 5-6 years ago. Hard to find.If you are familiar with these Tamiyas, and the HPI Cup racer series, then you know what is here.First $340 cash takes them all. That's less than $15 a body! Most of these go for $40-$50 new. And these are new. Will not sell individually. Must take entire lot.Comprehensive list, with part numbers so you can look them all up if needed. Cheers, Skottoman NOTE: I am not shipping these, so really looking for a somewhat local Tamiyaclub member to pick these up. I am in the North San Diego county area of California. Sorry to my worldwide Tamiya friends. 7. Hi there, I recently purchased a Grasshopper as my first rc since I was a boy. Was thinking a bit of nostalgia and then perhaps a more modern one next. Unfortunately my confidence has taken a bit of a knocking. On building my Grasshopper I have installed the servo, receiver esc. Thought I would test it before doing anything else and the wheels will turn but they will not drive. I am not getting anything from the motor. Things I know/can see : wheels turn fine, battery is charged, receiver lights up, esc (Carson) lights up green when I press forward and backward, wires are seated correctly, there is a loose yellow wire from the esc, there is nothing plugged into the BEC port on the receiver(?), I have a brand new 540 Mabuchi motor but it is not turning or making any sound. What next please help!? Many thanks
  8. Whilst in the shower this morning I had a knock at the door (typical isn't it!). There was a very cheerful looking delivery man stood in the pouring rain waiting patiently with a parcel for me Always love when things arrive from Tamico! Well packaged as usual! How good is this box art For a change I'm actually going to build this one rather than squirrel it away. I'll probably even use it as a basher too I've got to finish my FF01 speed run build before I can start on this but I'll put it on the list! I'd be interested to know of any worthwhile hop ups I can buy to use when I build this.
  9. Hi guys Really need your help with this one. Story goes like this; a few weeks ago I received my Ford C100 bodyset, the box completely knifed by customs. I went to the newspaper and they published the story (see photo). The Belgian television now picked up this story and want to make a report of it but I need them to show other members with simular problems. So, if you're box got damaged by customs or by shipping, please post your photo below. Many thanks and maybe in the future shipping and customs will be better. :-)
  10. Got an awesome deal on a new kit with damaged box ($57). Had to pick it up for my son. I've got my own Lunchbox with a bunch of suspension and chassis mods running 13.5T brushless power. For his, I'm keeping everything bone stock for now as far as performance mods go. This is one of the 3 projects that was holding me up from other builds because of the lack of time to work on the body. (Still not actually done, few more decals to print up)
  11. Hello world, from cold Sweden I made a video on youtube with clips from me and my friends RCs, feel free to check it out The plan is to upload videos on a regular basis if theres an interest in what I create. Anyway.. enjoy!
  12. Hi everyone, I'm selling all the parts that I used to make my Tamiya M05 rear wheel drive (with onboard suspension) conversion. It will include the back half of the M05 Chassis which is where where the modifications are. I will also assist in explaining how it goes together for anyone interested. You will require a standard M05 for this conversion. Thanks, Sam
  13. Hi everyone, For sale is my Tamiya BMW Z3 M Roadster body shell and wheel set. It has a 239mm wheelbase (MChassis) and is now a very rare body set and wheels. The body is in used condition and the paint is flaking off. However, there don't appear to be any splits and the decals seem to be in great condition, so perhaps it could be re-painted! The wheels seem like new, there is lots of tread left and the rims are in nice condition. I'm after £25 + postage (ONO) Thanks, Sam.
  14. Hi folks, A few years back I posted a few photos here on the forum about my rather sad original #58001 Porsche: https://www.tamiyaclub.com/forum/index.php?/topic/52184-is-this-a-58001-porsche I never got around to doing anything with it since then (my focus is offroad RC) so I've listed it on starting at a dollar: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Vintage-original-58001-Tamiya-Porsche-Turbo-RSR-934-RC-car-DOLLAR-START-/122706228385 or search for "Vintage original 58001 Tamiya Porsche Turbo RSR 934 RC car DOLLAR START" eBay item# 122706228385 I'm in Australia, but happy to ship to many countries in the world. Thanks for looking, Steve (1944GPW)

  17. Hi boyz! Sellig is back and presents his new restauration... Here is the base... In poor condition. But I always loved this buggy. So let's go! First of all, see what can be kept, at this step I don't now what will happen with this frame. But i sanded it with a sandblasting gun & baking soda, polished the roll cage with... Shoe shine, refilled the right gap with plasticard.Last but not least : I built a wonderful roof (isn't it?) from aluminium sheet. However the drive train isn't so bad (but no bearings). All the suspension arms show an important slack, the shocks (What shocks !?) are worn to die, all wheels & tyres too.The hood is out of order... That's all for tonight, see you later!
  18. According to Tamiyablog, Tamiya are about to release a NSU TT in Jägermeister livery using M05 chassis. Image courtesy NSU-Bergrennsport.de A nice little gem IMHO :-)
  19. Hi, I am in the UK and I have an old Futaba 4EX 4 channel Transmitter I am running my Tamiya Ford F350 Hi Lift with. The problem I have is it came with an old 1000mah 8 in a row AA NiCad battery pack with a JR/HiTech connector (I think), which now is only lasting 30 minutes or so. I have seen suitable larger mah packs for sale but wondered if I can I use a lipo pack without any modification to the transmitter. Obviously I would have to consider the size of the pack. Any help would be gratefully appreciated. Thanks
  20. Selling up my collection over the next few months, please do keep an eye open for some very rare and sought after Tamiya items. Feel free to PM me any questions. Thanks for looking. Very best of luck. https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/anchordriver/m.html?item=182155358527&hash=item2a694e313f%3Ag%3AauQAAOSw3R1XTta5&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562
  21. Hey there! Recently found an old Porsche 935 turbo r/c model still new in it's box. The box it's self is kinda beat up but everything inside is still in its packaging and untouched! I did some research on it and know it's a rare and valuable model, because of that I would rather sell it to some one who would really want it for their collection. I'm located in Boston, MA Link to a gallery for more pictures: https://goo.gl/photos/8acaVGkzTrpheocx9 You can make an offer for it here or private message me. Model has been put up for sale on Ebay! If there's anyone interested in it you can check it out here. >> http://www.ebay.com/itm/Tamiya-Martini-Porsche-935-turbo-58002-/112473651042?hash=item1a2ff3b762:g:lvYAAOSwvPRZYBdL
  22. [This was previously a sale thread for a different item which ended up being sorted shortly thereafter] For sale is a Tamiya TA-04 mechanical speed controller. It is brand-new-in-package, and was originally issued with kit no. 58269. I am looking for around $20 CAD or best offer - will post worldwide at cost. Thank you for reading! Edit: Note that I will be absent from May 11th - 28th, so communications will be sparse during that time, and shipments delayed until the 29th.
  23. Hard times are happening around here, so regretfully I am listing the following models for sale: - Tamiya Striker (58061) - Tamiya Lancia Rally (58040) [sorted] - Tamiya Buggy Champ 2009 (58441) - Tamiya Avante Black Special (84270) [sold] All four are in complete, used, working condition. The Striker is near-box-art (except for front cockpit screen and driver torso). It has been fitted with alloy rear wheel hubs, a modified Team CRP front chassis brace, and ball bearings all around (sealed types at the front wheels). The car shows signs of wear and use, with some tattered decals - it was definitely a runner, and will be cleaned before shipping. Many of the spares from my other TamiyaClub sale listing will be included in the sale of this car. Looking for $225 CAD, shipped worldwide. [Lancia Rally sorted] The Buggy Champ is finished in dark-green with box-art decals. It is fitted with the hop-up ball differential, an aluminium chassis, a homemade switch cover, and a set of Tamtech GB-01 aeration dampers all around. Of the four, this car is in the most-used state, and could benefit from a restoration. Looking for $200 CAD, shipped worldwide. [Avante Black Special sold] These cars are being sold with their electronics; upon request they can be removed at a discount. I am listening to offers and will negotiate via PM. These cars are located in Canada. I have PayPal; payment a gift preferred. Thank you for reading. Edit: Note that I will be absent from May 11th - 28th, so communications will be sparse during that time, and shipments delayed until the 29th.
  24. Hello Everyone, I have a quick question. In 1985, I had the option of a Fox or a Wild One at the age of 13. I chose the Fox as the guy at the Hobby Shop said it was a better performer. Turns out it was. But, like many of you, I have collected several Tamiya buggies including the Wild One I looked at back in the day. Here is the question, around 2001, before all of the rereleases, I purchased a NIB Wild One kit in absolutely mint condition. I probably paid too much for it, $600 US. They won't fetch that much on eBay anymore, which is ok as I don't want to get rid of the buggy. I would really like to have a vintage Wild One to display along with my Wild One rerelease. So, should I build it or keep it NIB? A perfect scenario would be to keep it NIB and find another vintage one to either restore or build, but there doesn't seem to be many for sale right now. If there are, they seem to be in really bad shape. Any thoughts would be appreciated! Thanks, Brad
  25. With no drives left for them, my Willys are now eligible to transfer out to another car owner who can give them seat time. In other words, I have two Willy torso figures for sale. They are both painted and include a steering wheel each. The green-helmeted figure has the hole in his arm for a screw filled in, whereas the blue-helmeted one still has the hole in his arm. I am looking for $45 CAD (includes shipping) for the pair, or $25 CAD (includes shipping) individually. This figure is open to negotiation, especially where a separate shipping quote is requested - meaning I will listen to offers. Both figures are based in Canada. PayPal is on hand and preferred. Pictures are available for assessing condition - both were in lightly-used runner vehicles: As always, I am happy to answer any questions via PM. Thanks for reading! Edit: Note that I will be absent from May 11th - 28th, so communications will be sparse during that time, and shipments delayed until the 29th.
