  1. Hello! I have been looking for a Toyota LJ 70 body for many years ..1989-90? Does anyone know where to find it? I think kyosho or tamiya had it a long time ago but the body has...I don't know..maybe 1/16 or even smaller..I'm looking for 1/10? Exactly the kind of black (picture is from the net) that we had at home in the 90s, 313mm wheelbase would be really nice! Btw, I have an Absim Sherpa with a 1965 Toyota FJ40 body and it fits nicely.. Of course I also swapped in better wheels, with much softer Louise tires and 2.2 revolver rims. And added some details on the scope like winch, lights, driver, smoke system etc. edit.. I don't know how to insert pictures so I'm adding a link of my FJ40 (in this video with other soft wheels and original absima beadlock rims)
  2. I have been wanting to do this build for some time, long term Tamiya kid (since the 1980s) And I have owned a WR02 since right after the kit came out, I finally got around to Building my GF01, but I wanted to go all out on this one! First I obtained the kit, I wanted the one with the unpainted shell (seems to be getting harder to find?) Then I went and purchased just about every alloy part I could get my hands on. Suspension components are a combination of GPM, Active Hobby, and Yeah Racing! I also included full ball bearings and radio gear from Spektrum. So to start the build, I got all of the parts organized prior to the assembly! So of course starting with the gearbox. I used Tamiya Anti-wear grease in the differentials. The gear box./ chassis was very easy to assemble. I replaced the Phillips head screws with some hex head ones from CRP (found on EBAY) in the same length to install the motor. I am using the silver can "torque tuned" motor right now, but I am going to try a few motors in the chassis and wanted something easier and not to worry about rounding out the Phillips screws. Next to assemble all the 3rd party suspension components. Front and Rear lower ARMS from GPM, Front and Rear upper arms from Active Hobby, Rear Hubs GPM, From C-Hub Yeah Racing, and Turnbuckles are GPM. Dampers are from GPM. Next, to get the electronics and servo installed. Using Spektrum 3-channel (Auxiliary channel is for LED's later on) I am using a Turnigy high torque servo and for now, the Tamiya Brushed/Brushless ESC will get the job done. \ Now time to get the final bits on the chassis, and install some wheels. I used the optional White Wheels on the OEM tires, I am saving those for when I try the Brushless motor out. For now, I am using some crawler wheels I had laying around, they are Tamiya Hummer wheels with some good rubber on them. Time for paint! I was determined to pain this kit using NO DECALS. All paint, I have yet to learn and purchase airbrush gear after all these years (near 30 years of RC on and off) but I am learning ASAP! I did all the paint on the body using rattle can, tape, and a lot of patience. So What does everyone think of the final product? I am really happy with it! No Decals other than the tiny Tamiya Logos, all rattle can paint and of course brush on the Driver. I have ran the kit with the silver can and its really stable with those tires on it (must be the weight??) even did some light crawling uphill. I am going to install a Tamiya 15.5T Brushless motor and see how it handles with the crawler and the stock tires today! Ill post more pics and video!
  3. Hi Guys, I am new to the forums and have recently gotten back into RC. A couple of months ago I bought myself a Tamiya TT-01E and turned it into a drift car. Upgraded Alu. Shocks, Adjustable Suspension, fast servo. I love it. But I wanted to try something different. So last week I bought myself the Tamiya GF-01 Land Cruiser 40 Kit. I assembled it over the weekend and gave it a try. It is a blast to drive. I have been doing some research and have not found many hop-ups. I know that it shares a lot with the WR-02 chassis. Any advice on what to start with?
