  6. Hi all, I recently acquired a Tamiya Sand Scorcher 2010 re release and have set it up with a 3350mah battery and torque tuned silver can (i thought any more powerful would be overkill with this chassis). Everything else is stock and I've just built up the chassis a week ago and have tried it out a few times on varied surfaces. (even in Britain's march snow). i find it great but i have found a few problems which as an inexperienced R/C driver/ builder I don't know how to solve. First off is the steering linkages, these seem to have an awful lot of play in them and i have bent them a few times. Next is the shocks which seem to leak like there's no tomorrow. I've also seen some lovely aluminium centreline wheels for the SRB online but haven't found any for sale. Lastly is the aluminium chassis worth it? I'm just asking as i have limited experience in this field so not sure if these are one off jobs or if they are available to buy anywhere. If anyone has any advice or pictures of their own work it would all be appreciated. Regards, Ned P.S. the blitzer beetle has a seemingly good stance and strikes me as something that would actually be pretty capable once Hopped up. Has anyone had any experience with upgraded blitzers and is it worth getting one or just investing in a modern buggy/truggy?
  7. Hi all. I'm after a vintage Thunder Shot motor mount. Needs to be a darker coloured one. Preferably new or minimal wear. Please let me know if you can help. Can swap for a new stainless one if that helps. Thanks in advance.
  8. Hello, I'm new here (I guess you knew that). Very quick intro... I used to use remote control cars approx. 30 years ago (just for fun, not competition), I started off with a Tamiya Sand Scorcher and later also bought a Tamiya Boomerang (1986 ish). My Mum has just moved house and both cars (and kits) have turned up again, much to the excitement of myself and even more so my 6 year old son. Well, all the Boomerang needed was a new battery and we were away but now we need/want a second car (as you all know) to more than double the fun ! For that reason (and to help fund the second car) I've decide that maybe the Sand Scorcher would be better off in the hands of somebody more clued-up and who could appreciate it more than me and my son will (he'll just smash it up I'm sure), So I'm looking to sell it but really not sure where to price it at and also I'm writing this during my (late) lunch break and just realised I don't have any pictures to upload to make this make more sense, sorry but I will post picture later this evening.

The brand on the box is Tsukuda but this brand is only known for static model kits and puppets... I happen to have also an old AYK from 1979 i think, and this car has the same wheels and rear axle, in the Tsukuda box are two optional gears and thy are marked AYK. The chassis is also black anodized. Maybe someone know something about this car? Thank you.

  19. Hi all, Me again I am after a brand new or hardly used C parts tree for a vintage Thundershot. The part number is 9005256. I am specifically after parts C1 and C3. They need to look like the 2 on the left of the attached picture. Please let me know if you can help. Thanks in advance.
  20. Just picked up a lamborghini countach 58008 and a road wizard cheap on a local site. Both came with original boxes and a box of extras and nib parts and original sticker sheets even the original kraft radio gear from back in the day. The road wizard just needed cleaned up and it's ready to go, turns out to be near mint and works flawlessly. My question is more towards the lambo, it's a basket case with a few important parts M.I.A. (axle, diff, hubs) but to the positive it did come with a nib rx540sd, nib mechanical speed control and nib wheels/tires and a martini porsche 936 body. If I build the car using the new extremely hard to find parts, it'll turn into a shelf queen when I'd actually like to run it at the carpet track a few times a year just for fun, no competition stuff. Or should I use more modern parts with zero modifications to the original car? I was thinking my old Novak esc and a fresh but tame brushed 19t? mabey even 27t? Or should I dare to run the vintage nib rx540sd? Since I don't forsee selling it and would never consider cutting it up or modification beyond bolt on, plug and play type changes. This would keep the value because I could always return it to stock and would allow me to enjoy this old beauty on occasion. Basically should I restore and just deal with having a couple cars I never run or risk it and run it like it was ment to be run? What should I do with them? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  23. Hi all, I'm after a new vintage Thunder shot screw pin bag. Please could you let me know if this is something you can help with? The part number is 9405381. Thanks in advance
  24. Hi all. I've just acquired some vintage thunder shot parts and they are in fantastic condition. I would like to make a shelf queen but upgrade the plastic 'bearings' to full ball bearings. The part number for the set is 50241 and was for the hotshot. Please could you let me know if you have anything that can help or point me in the direction to where I might be able to find a set. I'm happy to hunt down individual bearings but I don't the the part numbers or specs on them so if this is something you can provide instead I would be grateful. Thanks in advance.
  25. So I'm sitting here a bit bored at Taipei airport waiting for my flight home wondering idly about a new design project. I've noticed that top end 4WD racers have caster angle built into the c hubs to add to the kick up at the front of the buggy. Added to this as I've been filling my evenings this week whilst here on business, I found an article on Jamie Booths Manta Ray from 1991 and he says one of the biggest things he did was get some extra caster added to the custom c hubs he had made. I have a Thunder Dragon and a Terra Conqueror DF01 now, and I think fairly easily I could do caster c-hubs for them via Shapeways. I just have no idea how much to add. My DT03 has 25 deg, but I haven't seen that much on 4WD for some reason. Anyone got any ideas? Looks like both my buggies have something around 10 deg kick up, so should I be trying to add 5 deg? 10 deg? 15 deg? All help, hand waving, wild speculation greatly appreciated. Cheers!
