  2. Hi all, I've recently started my DT-03 Racing Fighter build, and I'm incorporating a number a Tamiya and after-market Hop-Up options (as one does). One such upgrade is the Tamiya DT-02 Ball Differential Set (#53863); despite being designated for a DT-02, this is listed as a upgrade for the DT-03 chassis. After assembling the diff itself and installing it into the gearbox assembly, I noticed the drive cups that came with the ball diff set were considerably smaller than the kit supplied drive cups. I've attached a photo below to illustrate this. The trouble is, this make it impossible to use the kit supplied dog bones (they simply won't fit in the small drive cups), and I can't swap the larger kit supplied drive cups as the interface to the differential itself is completely different. Now, I do have on order a set if steel alloy CVD drive shafts from GPM (part number DT3264SC), which I purchased prior to starting this build. The reason is because I will be running a 10.5T brushless motor with a 2S LiPo in this car and it's my understanding the stock plastic drive cups and dog bones become a weak point when power goes up. However, in light of this recent discovery, my question is will the GPM CVD drive shaft set work with the smaller drive cups of this ball differential? If not, what CVDs do I need to source that will fit these smaller drive cups? Should I be looking to replace the small drive cups with something larger instead? Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. Cheers! Michael
  3. Hi guys, While I've been looking for some parts, I found that there are CVD and universal swing shafts. Maybe anyone knows differences between them? Some say it's the exact same thing, but others say, that they perform differently. For me, universals look like a more open version of the CVDs. Which of them would be more durable? Which ones do you prefer? CVDs: Universals:
  4. hi all, thought i would post up a mod i discovered to convert the holiday buggy to very high quality cvd drive shafts for peanuts, what you will need, ansmann mad rat cvd shafts, get them from ebay for around £6 per pair , 5x8x3mm bronze bushing or any spacer that will make up 3mm wide, 3racing TT01 /DT02 steel diff outputs , the bush or spacers go inboard of the hub bearings, the work part! the ansmann shafts have a thicker cross pin at the diff end of the shaft so you will need to file/dremel around 0.3 mm from each side of the 3racing slots to allow the shaft to fit , takes about 1 minute with a dremel but will take a bit longer with a file , keep the grinding as symetrical as possible to keep the shaft rotation concentric. all fitted to the hub , and diff output ground out , all fitted and super smooth with far greater suspension travel , these ansmann shafts are some of the best i have used , the ones on my Xpro buggies are all still in great shape after hundreds of runs with very fast motor systems and endless driving abuse in filthy muddy condition's and lots of big hard jumps , for £6 a pair they cant be beat , same goes for the 3racing diff outputs , over 6 years of punishment and still perfect , total cost of the mod £10. happy Scotsman ,
