  1. Hi! I've seen several mentions of an old aluminium shock tower conversion, the CRP 1556 Could anyone offer me dimensions for this rare, unavailable part, please? Or even a scale drawing, or photos of it next to a rule (blank) credit type card, please? I'm hoping I can fashion one from sheet aluminium. Cheers!!
  2. Not too long ago, I finished building a Tamiya Aqroshot which included the DT-03 CVA damper set. I followed the instructions to build the dampers 100%. Once the build was done, I noticed that the front dampers were fine and could push the chassis back up, but the rear dampers are very stiff and are unable to lift the chassis without me lifting it up myself. All the parts were used, nothing was left over. I filled the dampers with oil to the top and cleaned any overspill, I remove the air bubbles as I went. It's like the spring itself has no resistance (right word?) when compressed. Does anyone have any idea why just the rear dampers are doing this? Is it normal and has anyone experienced this before with this damper set? Any help would be awesome.. I wanted to drive this tomorrow!
  3. Just starting rebuild of hi-lux monster racer (last used 25 yrs+ ago). Is it worth replacing the damper oil now I have removed them? Or just leave.
  4. Good day lads. I have used DMC shock oil in my clear blue Tamiya plastic dampers, combined with TRF O-rings #42214 and TRF rods #53575, and Team Associated Green Slime, but the oil just keeps leaking out under compression. What could be the cause? The rods are the same size as the standart ones, the O-rings aren't tight around them, but the stock red ones require an awful lot of force to get any compression. Are the o-rings not fit for the oil? There are TRF rings made speficalyy for natural oils, I don't know whether this oil is natural or synthetic, though. Should I go for complete TRF dampers? Thanks for your help.
  5. New to the hobby, my first car was the DT-03. After messing about with it on the road I wanted to see how it would do on a forest path. Bad idea! It somehow broke the front left suspension. The small retainer part was lost, thankfully I found the spring. (Hop-up CVA Damper set - part V5 lost). I'm wondering what I should do, from my searches online, I could just buy a new complete CVA Damper set, but a friend suggested just get a new set of non-Tamiya shocks. I like the idea, but now I'm not sure what would fit? As im a newbie, I've no idea about how strong I need the shocks to be or how it affects speed. Looking for advice, also if I replace the shocks, I'm guessing it would be wise to replace all four. What do I want to do with it? Nothing serious, I was hoping it would take more of an off road track, but maybe I will stick to roads and the driveway! Not going to race it or anything, it's all stock parts right now. (Was packed with hop-ups mentioned). Attached a pic of the CVA Damper set. Part missing was the "PAC-MAN" looking part seen on the top row.
  6. OK, so I've been using some "yeah racing" aluminum oil dampers on my Bushy D (vintage Bush Devil/Super Blackfoot) with standard Blackfoot front-end suspension... Here's an example pix: http://jpegbay.com/gallery/005068524-1.html#1 I haven't been too happy with the dampers, although they look really shiny... They just don't have the same "mushy-ness" as my neighbors Tra**as big bore dampered truck... So I bought some Tamiya 50520 CVAs for the Bushy D... I'm waiting still for them to arrive, but I wanted to start a discussion about these for my own sake... Mine the Tamiya Club database for nuggets of knowledge... Topic 1: I noticed (from reading instruction manuals online) that the re-re MB CVAs (I assume the BF too) use the solid piston with the solid flat-head (BC8), while the 50520 uses pistons with attachable e-ringed flat-heads with holes (1, 2, or 3)... Anyone have any first hand knowledge on a comparison between the different set-ups??? I'm thinking of using the 3-hole flat-head... Topic 2: I also want to jazz up my car. Are there any other colors that I can get the plastic pieces, other than black, yellow, and white??? Do other color CVA shock plastic pieces exist??? I see there are clear blue 50519 parts (???), are there blue or red pieces??? Are these plastic pieces from other cars that I can use to replace the typical 50520/50519 plastic pieces??? Topic 3: Does anyone have any experience with the 50519s on a Frog??? I think I'll need those for my front-end... AFAIK the piston and reservoir lengths are shorter??? These have a clear blue option, as mentioned above??? Topic 4: Hi-Cap Dampers. How cool are they??? Thanks, Terry

  8. Hi TC, Looking for some advice on a independent front shock set up on the Nova I'm building. Its getting modded more each day, Hot trick arms, steering linkage, custom machined alloys and now I'd like to address another weakness. Any ideas T guru's?
