  1. For a while it has been nagging at me every time I walk into the garage and see my shelves of vintage shelfers the fact that two of them aren't completely vintage originals. Specifically the Hornet and Frog. The Frog is all original, but has a re-re body + decals. But the Hornet I built before I developed my collection enough to really divide between runners and shelfers and it's mostly re-re including the body - it even has a 2.4ghz Rx and an ESC fitted. Which means it's basically a runner, and that's where it lives now. I'll build a re-re Frog to use the current "shelfer" Frog shell and locate an original Frog body set at some point when I find the right deal to jump on. Well, on the Hornet front the "right deal to jump on" popped up a couple weeks ago on eBay as a partially built vintage original Hornet kit, which had only been barely started being built and was complete - in other words perfect for a vintage build, without having to sacrifice an intact NIB kit or pay the premium for one. What I didn't realize at the time is that this particular Hornet kit was an Mk1! I didn't really even think about it until reading through Hibernaculum's excellent resource on telling the differences between the different vintage makes and the differences with the re-re. But I was curious so I had a look and lo and behold I got my hands on a complete Mk1 Hornet kit that I intended to build anyway for $100 + 14.50 postage. And... as a bonus it came with a brand new in box hump battery, which alone was worth the majority of the price paid for the lot and didn't need so I sold it and was snatched up quickly for a good price ($55) by our own Yonez, PLUS the Hornet came with a 1980 Tamiya Guide Book! In other words, the Mk1 Hornet kit was essentially free. Not a bad deal! My guess is that when whoever was building it many years ago got to the part with the bare wires on the motor they closed it up and that was it. Here is a pic from the listing... and below it are my pics of the kit, battery and guidebook. Here are my pics noting the Mk1 tells, as described by Hibernaculum's website: It's interesting that the body shell and wing have nothing at all embossed in the plastic. The lexan also feels especially thick/strong to me... Here's the bonus NIB hump pack battery: and last but not least the 1980 Tamiya Guidebook!
  2. Nobody wants a couple bundles of hen's teeth NIP/NOS parts that are immediately worth more than you paid? If I wasn't selling them I'd definitely buy them, the Falcon parts at the very least! Let's do some math... 1) Falcon Parts Bundle: http://www.ebay.com/itm/331699188811 $55 obo w/ free shipping -- make me an offer, tell me u r from here and I'll accept any offer, on any item, for $10+ less than listed price... so $45 w/ free shipping Included parts: X9901 A Parts (Bumper Tree)ebay price range = ~$23 (min) to ~$33 (max) X9905 F Parts (Suspension Arms)ebay price range = ~$51 (min) to ~$106 (max) X9902 B Parts (Yellow Parts) ebay price range = ~$12 (min) to $12 (max) Total price range of ~$86 (min) to ~$151 (max) So at $45 they are immediately worth about $40 to $100 more than you paid 2) Sonic Fighter Parts Bundle: http://www.ebay.com/itm/331699296644 $45 obo w/ free shipping... so $35 w/ free shipping Included parts: X10003 B Parts (Bumper Tree)ebay price range = ~$7 (min) to ~$18 (max) X10161 C Parts (Yellow Parts)ebay price range = ~$15 (min) to ~$19 (max) X10162 D Parts (White Parts)ebay price range = ~$31 (min) to ~$40 (max) X10163 F Parts (Front Shock Tower + Arms) ebay price range = ~$22 (min) to ~$32 (max) Total price range of ~$75 (min) to ~$109 (max) So at $35 they are immediately worth about $40 to $70 more than you paid
  3. Seriously tempted to grab it for myself but shouldn't. Someone else do it before I lose my resolve! http://www.ebay.com/itm/Tamiya-58004-XR311-Vintage-1-12-RC-Sealed-NIB-/131633764408
  4. I have Purchased an old used Tamiya Vanquish on ebay. The car is from USA, I am in the UK. The seller had the Global Postage program on his listing for delivery to the UK. I payed for the item with postage then paid an extra for the Global Postage Program "GPP" Ebay information lists it as, paying for customs etc, so you don't get stung when it enters the country. Car was sent from seller to a warehouse in the Usa, (sellers tracking information ends here) Where it was opened, checked the completely repacked. Then was sent on, (new tracking number to get it to the UK) Once it arrived in the UK a 3rd tracking number is generated by the local delivery company. I must admit I was a bit dubious of whether I would still get hit by customs fees. But my package got to me with no hold ups this end. Only issue I have, is that when they repacked it, they lost one of the rear dog-bones (driveshaft) Luckily I have spares, so not a life death problem. I thought I should warn everyone that when using ebays GPP, your item will get unpacked, checked and repacked, so if you have small loose items, be Very careful. Because the parcel was sent to a Usa warehouse then to me. Being sent to 2 places, in my mind it has doubled my delivery time. Any one else used this new GPP ?
  5. Hi all, I recently purchased some bearings from Ebay to ball race a restoration I'm doing, and I would like to share the negative experience, to help protect others. The ebay listing stated ... Seller = pflhobbyboy - Fit To TAMIYA PORSCHE 959 CELICA Gr.B RC Car - 2x6x3mm x6pc - 5x8x2.5mm x16pc The 16 large ones fit fine but the gear box won't go back together properly with the small ones in. I managed to strip another chassis I recently purchased and found that these small ones are actually 2.5mm thick/wide, not 3mm. - 2x6x2.5mm x6pc = correct I contacted the seller but in very poor English they say the fault is mine. I tried to ask them to remove the false statement about fitting 2x Tamiya cars but they are not interested. I search other sellers and 2 are selling bearing kits with the wrong size, 3mm, and 2 are selling the kits with the right size, 2.5mm. I can't open an ebay case because its over 45 days old, 35 of those in shipping. Be careful fellow TC members !
  6. hi folks - i'm reasonably sure this isn't breaking any rules. but i've bought a few things from the ebay seller jimmylovestoeatspam and he's a really nice guy. he and i have chatted a bit and he's dealing with some ... issues. he's been selling off most of his collection. he reads TC 'religiously' but hasn't joined up. anyway he specifically asked if i'd help him get the word out on a NIB bigwig kit he has listed on ebay. it's listed as a BIN for $899 but said he'd drop down to $750 for a TC member since he prefers "real collectors" to get his stuff. here's the bigwig: http://www.ebay.com/...7-/281068287756 in his own words: "Ben, I cant join TC right now...I have too much going on. I don't feel social anyway////I can take 750.00 plus shipping for the BigWig. [ ... personal stuff ... ] I think my price is right. Best Regards, Jimmy me- will see what i can do jimmy, TC has some pretty strict rules about promoting ebay auctions that aren't your own. that's one reason i was encouraging you to join i'm sure it'd pay for itself in one or two sales. if i can point people to it the TC guys are pros and know exactly how much things should cost and they won't bite if it's not a good deal. what would be your bottom line number you'd want from a TC member for it? him- Ben will you please help promote my Tamiya BigWig auction on TC? I need that money to put new tires on my car and drive to [ ... personal stuff ... ]. It would mean alot to me.... Hope you can help. Kindly, Jimmy" here are all his items: http://www.ebay.com/...oeatspam/m.html
  7. I am currently selling my BMW Z3 M Roadster on eBay from the year 2000 It is completed but has never been fully run (it has obviously been tested but not used) Take a look- http://www.ebay.co.u...984.m1555.l2649
  8. I have made a purchase on ebay using paypal and not received my items. I have closed the bank account that I used to pay. The seller has refunded the money to paypal who have refunded the card which is impossible as the account is closed. I have called the bank and they say the money would not have come to them as the account is shut. I have called paypal, they say a different thing every time. I have called ebay and they hung up on me!!!. I didn't swear, I just keep getting told to call paypal or call the bank but they are all blaming each other. The value of the items amount to around £60 and I just want my money back.Edit to add, Just been on the paypal help forum and it looks like this happens all the time and I just have to wait.
  9. Is the seller of fleabay item 170854660639 legally allowed to sell it (them)? Surely this is blatant copyright theft?
