The original box and manual is present, along with a spare capacitor and odd unused bits.Note that the chassis you see the Cyclone in is not for sale. The price is 15£. Feel free to give me an offer. It is situated in Denmark but can be shipped to the UK for 7£. For other countries please enquire and I shall check prices.
  2. Hey Guys My first posting here. So.. many years ago in a galaxy far far away when i was a young lad i received a brand new Boomerang as a B'day present already made by my Dads mate, much fun had! entered in Sunday meets (just 4 fun racin) and alot of after school bashing with me mate Cotsell. 30 years on after looking for gadgets to spend some hard earned cash on discovered that Tamiya were still going, after a second! contemplating decided got to get one. Having never before built a Tamiya or any other rc vehicle I were looking forward and hoping to be challenged by the build, Overall Enjoyed putting together found instructions very informative and build quite easy, did over a week for an hour or so each evening, the most daunting part of the project was the body cutting, experimented on the chassis cover with scissors, went ok but not perfect, The body however i wanted it to be perfection. So did some research from mainly you guys here on Tamiyaclub and was suprised that many of you mentioned scoring with a craft knife and bending was key, this works superbly and is actually quite therapeutic creating the bodywork this way (very light scoring and very sharp thin blade required). PLAYTIME First run.. 3000mah nimh battery, stock tble 2esc and silver Mahbuchi motor.(not recorded) Run 2.. hpi firebolt 15t motor same battery and esc but with steel 17pinion on motor. 26mph??? ..... according to iphone 4s app attached inside body. O.k to be honest i was sceptical about the old iphone 4s gps reading and app, so have now changed to samsung s6 with very good and tested app. Today , I received direct from Hong Kong Ezrun 9t brushless motor and esc combo (£27.99) fitted, works well and leaves skidmarks all over laminated flooring in house 😀... will inform if any requests are taken on next run.. Any guesses ?
  3. Morning, I’m having issues with my new Super Stock RZ motor. I bough it as an upgrade motor for My Lunch Box. I’ve also bought a Mtroniks Tio Storm 19T ESC to power it but it’s not working. The ESC only beeps when I put it into forward or reverse? The steering servo works fine. if I connect my original motor (supplied with the Lunch Box) the Mtronkis works that absolutely fine? So I’m a bit stuck as to what to do. Do I need a sensor cable from the RZ motor? There seems to be a slot in the motor but nowhere to connect it within the Mtroniks ESC, if I did buy one? I believe I’ve set the ESC up correctly as it powers the original motor. All help greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  4. Very new to RC and have just almost completed my first build of a Black Dark Impact DF-03. I was very lucky and got to visit Tokyo and specifically a fantastic store called RC Champ/RC Adviser and pick up a complete RC setup. I have some questions about installing a Brushless Motor to replace the 540 stock motor. My problem is that I am trying to install a Yokomo BL-SP4 Brushless Motor but it is not the same length as the stock 540. By disassembling the rear of the chassis I was able to get the Yokomo fitted but the solder mount for the three wires is an extremely tight fit and I had to bend the wires back to get them leading the correct direction and out of the motor mount to reach my ESC. Secondly, I just am too stupid to understand how to Setup the ESC correctly. I hold down the SET button but don't understand how long I am supposed to wait for the LED Lights to change when setting Neutral, Forward, and Brake. The Yokomo manual is very poorly written. Reading the setup part of the BL-SP4 manual can anyone help me out? Setting up an ESC should be very simple but not for a beginner with no experience, BL-SP4 manual
  5. Hey all, Rediscovered my Super Hornet from 20-odd years ago and would like to resurrect it for the small humans to play with. Opened it up and found that the only thing missing was the speed controller. My thinking is that a budget ESC would out-live the kid's interest in the RC car. Looking at the specs of the Super Hornet on the Tamiya website, the car has a 27 turn 540 brushed motor, running on a 7.2v NiCD battery. 1) Would an OCDAY Brushed 60A ESC be suitable for my application? 2) Are the brushed ESCs able to be reprogrammed with the brushless programming cards. The abilioty to lower the power specs would make overall control for the kids more enjoyable at first. 3) If the original NiCD battery no longer holds a charge, will a NiMH 7-pack battery be suitable with this ESC? Cheers,
  6. Hi all, I have dusted down my 30 year old raider and it works! Or did! Bought new battery and it was running great. Turned off but didn't disconnect and somehow the old MSC got nudged on . when I smelt smoke it turned all off and recharged battery. It now works only on full speed, I guess I have blown the resistor. As I can't get a spare u was going to buy the 1060? ESC and use that. My question is this... Is it relatively easy to swap the old style MSC out and replace with a new one. Can anyone explain what I need to do please. I have a futaba attack r controller- do just swap the crystal over to the new ESC? Is there anything else I need to remove? Also I need new tyres for the rear wheels and new rear shocks ( the others have always sagged and it seems to run too low to the ground. They are 65mm so was thinking I could get some linger ones? Any advice on what size shocks and wheels I'd need would be appreciated along with where to source them (/I'm in the UK). My kids are you so want them to get used to the fun of rc cars before they migrate to more modern models! Many thanks for any advice. Oli

  8. Returning after a long absence from RC I’ve just purchased an Avante 2011 and Egress 2013 from Tower Hobbies here in the US. As a kid these were the two kits I dreamed of owning as I turned the pages of the Tamiya catalog. At the time, my after school job only allowed me the cash to get a Hornet. So now I have these these two kits, found this site and wondered if I could get some advice on motors, ESCs and servos that would suit these two cars? I have been doing a fair bit of research online - but there is just so much to choose from. I was looking at going for a Spektrum servo and receiver with AVC, and going with an ESC+motor combo from Hobbywing. Understandably, I’m trying to mix some nostalgia with the up to date Lipo batteries, brushless motor and so on. The cars will end up as weekend drivers - some moderate bashing fun. Although I wouldn’t mind if I could give a couple of my buddies with brushless RTR buggies from Arrma a run for their money. Lastly, if I documented the build, would anyone be interested in seeing the progress and pics from these two cars? Thanks in advance for any guidance you might offer.
  9. I have had this motor for a looooong time. I used to race in a super stock class back in early 2000 and this motor along with the type R where the spec motors. I have raced in this class around ten times. I took a break from the hobby and eventually replaced the power system in my car with a brushless system. I used this motor in my XV-01 pro but I feel it is too nice to have on an offroad car. The motor is in ok condition, it is still working and I have actually carried out a maintenance last year, where I thoroughly cleaned it, oil the comm bushings and polished the comm. I think it would benefit a lot from a new set of brushes, but those are very cheap. I feel too bad using this and since it also has some sentimental value, being the motor that gave me my first podium win, I have decided to sell it to anyone who is interested in having it in a shelf queen, maybe a TL-01, TA-03 or TA-04, TB-01, TB-Evo, FF02 or an F1 since it was recommended for those models. I also still have the original box and I will pack it with this one since I think the box art looks really cool and it can have some collectible value. I do not see these around that often so I am not sure if they are that collectible but I think 30€ plus shipping would be a reasonable price but, I am open to offers.
  10. So I've been running my old Futaba 70mhz transmitter and receiver with a new Tble-02 ESC. I've been getting tons of interference with the transmitter and receiver so the car will speed off at times. Either there is inference between the ESC and transmitter or there is just too much noise out there in the neighborhood with all the other frequencies bouncing around out there Probably time to upgrade to. 2.4GhZ transmitter and receiver. So for my education would you all give some suggestions for a good set up for a new 2.4ghz radio? I'm sorta partial to Futaba but only because that's what I've always had. I'm open to new manufactures. I plan on build another Hornet and probably a Sand Scorcher or Super Champ so they will be getting new 2.4ghz radios for sure. So whatever suggestions you all have that would be helpful thanks! One other concern, I have several original Futaba servos that are in perfect working condition that I could reuse in my new builds. The issues however is that they are so old they have the original 3 pin male connector at the end. I see that all new receivers, ESCs, and servos now have the 3 pin connection reversed. The receiver is now the male and all that connect to it have the female end. Would someone suggest an adapter? Or just purchase new servos? I did find an adapter that allowed me to us the new Tble-02 ESC with the old Futaba receiver but I don't think that connector will fit into a new receiver? Or will it? Pictures attached.
  11. Hi can anyone help...got a newly built Honda city turbo with Tamiya TBLE02 ESC hooked to a Carson receiver, a reflex wheel pro 2, transmitter is stick style. Batteries are fresh in transmitter and fresh charged Nicad (it works as just in my grasshopper!) pic below shows setup. When I turn on it appears to connect, and then it may or may not throttle , and then cut out...then back on again, reverse if you flick the stick a couple of times. Steering can work, then stops again, then works...any ideas guys and gals?? Thanks, it would make my 8 yr old day....!
  12. So, I had my Vintage 84 Hornet out for its first trial run today. So much fun! However, I came across a problem which I'm not sure where the issues originates. During the rebuild I replaced the original MSC with a new TBLE-02S ESC. I kept my original Futaba transmitter and receiver. They work at a frequency of 70 MHz. During the run the throttle would surge at times causing the car to run away. Never fun! This is why I got rid of the MSC. It always stuck with low batteries and would take off to its potential death. The ESC is for sure set up correctly with both forward and reverse limits. And the radio seems to be in good shape. Do you think the throttle stick is a malfunction of the ESC or is it because I'm using such an old transmitter and receiver running at such a low frequency and the new ESC demands a 2.4 ghz? any insight my fellow Tamiya enthusiast?
  13. A little help from the pros please. I am rebuilding my 86 Hornet. Looking good so far. I purchased a Tamiya TBLE-02S ESC to replace the original MSC, as it was just beat up beyond repair. My original Futaba receiver(FP-R2GS) is in great shape so I was planning on using it for the rebuild. However, I have come across a problem The connector from the new ESC to the receiver is totally different from the original. 1. Are these two components compatible? 2. Is there an adapter available? Source? 3. Or can I simple snip off the connectors and rewire? Any help is greatly appreciated!! kal

  15. Hi guys & gurlz, Almost at the end of my first Tamiya build in many years (a 1/14 KIng Hauler) - a little different to the boats I've scratch-built for the last half century or so. Having initially run it up using a random ESC from "old stock", it occurs to me that my choice might not have been the wisest. Which ESC would you recommend? The motor is the stock 520 that came in the box. Suggestions, advice, commiserations etc all welcome.
  16. So I'm going to start building my Baja Champ slowly over the next few weeks. Not much time, but I haven't built anything for a few years and this kit seems like a nice start. I've been collecting some radios over the last couple of years to have period correct gear for my cars. But I don't have anything from the 1998+2-4 years period. I'd like to get something that would have been put in a Tamiya buggy in that time frame. I'm guessing perhaps a Futaba,, but it's very hard to find a timeline of Futaba sets. What are your top tips? Preferably something I can get NIB for a decent price ;-)
  17. Hello I am selling the power combo that came with a used RC I recently bought. Price is 25€ for each or 45€ for both. Shipping in Europe is included in the process. I am also open to offers. If you have any questions, just let me know. The ESC is a Yuki model Samurai SL 45A. The esc is sensorless and it is also marketed as waterproof, even though I don't think it really is. Definetely looks water resistant. This was installed in a Tamiya XV-01, that is why the wires are extended. Unfortunately the previous owner used extensions with wider terminals than what the motor has so those would have to be removed. I would actually suggest to remove the extensions altogether since the connection was not the best. That said, there is sufficient length of wire for a lot of applications. The ESC is programmable via card, but I do not have it. Even though the ESC looks like a hobbywing rebrand it people in rc forums say that it is not compatible with the hobbywing program card. Even though I do have one, I am not willing to risk damaging it by trying it. The ESC is outfitted with a deans plug and also has a fan integrated. The motor is CS rookie rocket 3100kv, sensorless, 2 pole brushless motor. It is a rather mild motor and good replacement if you want to have a mild brushless setup for a 1:10 touring or rally car. The motor has a few dings but works fine. As you can see it really looks like some hobby-wing rebrand and I am pretty sure it is.
  18. I PROMISED myself that I would leave the Lunchbox alone... I mean, why would I upgrade a "truck" worth about $100? The upgrades would far exceed the price very quickly... Well a few opening statements about Vanessa for me to start off with, she is what has draaaaaggggggggggggged me back into RC AGAIN and more importantly, into Tamiya and led me to you pack of nut cases Good, bad or indifferent, she has been a joy to drive and bash like heck and it's not about the money at all actually, it's about the good ol' fun of RC and loving the car you have, and that means for me using it like all heck then upgrading as needed. Well that time has come. I looked for many months for suspension but just couldn't justify it, finally I gave in and got some GMade as they are fantastic build quality and really cheap for what they are. I would have loved Tamiya CVAs for this but they're too hard to find and too expensive. I also LASHED out on an ultra expensive ESC from HobbyKing The final piece of the puzzle for now is arguably the most important, the 2S Lipo Well, I'll post pics as we go here, I assume the final (LOL) upgrade will be the front A-Arms.
  19. Well I’m happy to say that I’m the proud owner of a vintage Clod Buster that I won on eBay this morning (apologies to any TC members who I sniped I just had to have one in my life!) I’ll pick her up tomorrow and the plan is to bring her back to box art so I can re-live yet another missed childhood dream. Couple of questions… Firstly, would you guys recommend keeping the original shell as the runner and purchasing a new body & decals for the shelf or should I restore the body and just have the one? I plan on running her, how hard I’m not sure but she will do some clodding around… Just not sure if it’s financially viable to go ahead and purchase a new shell and decals… From what I can gather it looks like $200AUD is about the cheapest I could get that for!!! The second question is around electrics… I want to use LiPo’s and an ESC – I’ll probably just keep the motors or put in maybe Sport Tuned in there. What is a good reasonably prices ESC and also servos for this truck in your opinions? My days are passed of purchasing the highest quality Hitec servos (literally been there done that with the 1/5 gas cars) so now am all about the balance of good enough, cheap enough as I am yet to find problems even with Turnigy Lipo’s and Hobby King servos! But the torque recommendations would be appreciated. I am using this in the Bruiser, which seems ok: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idproduct=51179 I have read on here that a few have used this, however with the Clod do I need two or a specific two motor esc? http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__46161__HobbyKing_X_Car_45A_Brushed_Car_ESC_AU_Warehouse_.html?strSearch=HobbyKing%20X-Car%2045A%20Brushed%20Ca Anyhow, thanks guys for the brains trust.
  20. Hi, please bear with me, I'm new to this. Bought by son a grasshopper re-release for Christmas. It came with a Carson reflex stick pro 3 controller/ reflex wheel pro 3 receiver and tamiya brushless esc 02S. After putting it together it worked fine for a few weeks, then the other day he turned it on, and it made a strange crackle noise. Since then the steering works, the reverse works, but it won't go forward at all. I guess something has burnt out, but do you think it's likely to be the esc, of the controller, or receiver. I presume it's not the motor as it still reverses fine. Much appreciated
  21. Hey guys - I have a Blackfoot 3 set up with dual motors and the performance is a little lackluster so I've been considering trying out a pair of Titan 550s along with either the EVX or EVX-2 ESC (or maybe some other ESC?). I don't want to spend a fortune, so a dual brushless setup is prob not ideal... and it has to run on NiMH. There's plenty of clearance between the top of the chassis and the body to strap on a 2nd battery, so dual batteries shouldn't be an issue. What do you all think?? Would the gearboxes do OK? Anyone tried this setup? 22. Hey guys - Markbt73 has infected me a bit with enjoying the performance of the Novak Edge/Ballistic setup I now have in my DF-02 runner. Being a relative n00b to brushless I have no intrinsic sense as to whether I'd see similar performance by picking up one of Tamiya's entry-level BL motors and using it with a TBLE-02S I have just sitting NIP in a bin. To be honest I've been pretty underwhelmed by Tamiya's ESC's other than the TEU-101BK and TEU-302BK. All the others have hard-wired limited reverse capability and I can't seem to see any performance improvement between them (am I missing something?). Lucky for me, people think that the 101BK is 'less good' than the 102-105BK, so I regularly buy them whenever I can for anything under $20 NIP. So - basically, I'm skeptical that the TBLE-02S is even worth bothering with brushed or brushless. Except if I go and buy a $60-70 Tamiya BL motor (I'd only go for a matching motor - I like things that match) then I'd be wasting a lot of $ and still seeing lackluster performance. BUT maybe I'm wrong...! Has anyone tried one of these combos and have good things to say about it? Particularly relative to other BL systems you've used?
  23. I have spent the last few weeks building my first (if you exclude a simple Buggy 30 years ago) RC car - a NEO SCORCHER So far - things have gone reasonably smoothly But now - I find Tamiya instructions, somewhat lacking I am stuck with the wiring up of the ESC and Motor The (stock, Tamiya) ESC has three cables from/to it - Coloured Yellow, Blue and Orange The motor has Green and Yellow connections The instructions state ESC should have Red, Orange, Yellow - connected to Yellow/Red on the motor And Black, Blue - connected to Green/Black on the motor So I am guessing that I need to connect Yellow to Yellow and Blue to Green This leaves Orange from the ESC with no connection ? Please help me - before I go insane .........(er) !! Also - is there not supposed to be a tube in the kit to hold the aerial wire up in the air ? Mine does not come with one !! Thanks
  24. So my 14.4v Clod/TXT Hybrid has spent the last few years in pieces after breaking yet more ball ends, and since I've thrown out all my dodgy old NiMH packs I've had nothing to power it anyway, as I don't fancy discharging my faithful lipos and ruining them. I really need a big-wheel truck back in my life again, so this winter will involve rebuilding it from the ground up, junking the overweight TXT chassis in favour of something lean, leaving plenty of space low-down for a 4s lipo (or two 2s lipos). I've got a new set of Traxxas Titan motors to go right in (reverse-timed motor is awesome!) but what I don't have is a lipo-ready speed controller. I don't really want to blow a month's wages on something crazy, I don't need all sorts of advanced features - all I need is dual motor outputs, lipo cutoff and up to 4s power. The standard Traxxas EVX2 is probably perfect but UK prices are high - although I could consider importing from the US, some sellers seem to be breaking them out of new models for less than half UK prices. Anything else worth considering? Thanks
  25. Was fortunate enough to get the "ok" to pick up a Mountain Rider for my birthday. In an attempt to minimize costs (and keep the peace on the homefront), I'd like to use one of the Tamiya ESCs I have laying around, rather than pick up a new unit. I have a TEU-104BK, which the manual specifically states cannot be used. Can someone help explain why this won't work? I also have a TLBE-02S -- any chance this will work? The truck will be a light runner, so springing for a Tekin FXR (seems to be a popular recommendation) is likely overkill. I'm a bit new to this ESC business, as I hopped from MSCs to Nitro, and then dropped out of the hobby for a bit. Thanks!
