Hi, I was lucky and came across a chassis for the Futaba FXT trophy truck. It finally arrived today. The chassis looks to be in good condition, the body needs to be replaced with a proper period correct body and decals. I have a stadium Plumber and compared the chassis. It’s interesting to see that they’ve changed from a plastic tub to aluminum tub, with the battery going in the north south orientation. The damper towers on both front and rear are both fiberglass, including the battery holder. From research online, the Danvers are typical CVA, but in my case, the past owner had upgraded to aluminum gold finish dampers. The rims are unique classics 8 hole rims, but the same size as the Stadium Thunder. The tires are the same size as Stadium thunder for both front and rear, but in my car, the rear tires were replaced with another brand. My next step is to clean up the car and take about the gearbox to check the internals. I will also order a new body from Team Blue Groove new decals from MCI racing. I had scooped up the makings of at least one new-built Futaba FX10 over the years that I'd meant to build and include what is quite literally the red-headed step child of the Striker in my collection but I am accepting the reality I can't get to a lot of these projects and selling them off. Is there any interest here among any of you fellow TCers in a sale or trade for this set of parts? I could go into more detail if there is, but it's essentially a NIB kit, but with a mix of lots of individually packaged NIP parts including two whole chassis, decals, manual, box, etc. If anyone doesn't know the story of the FX10, Futaba hired Tamiya to manufacture a kit for them to rebadge as a Futaba product. Tamiya based it on the Striker and lots of parts are interchangeable. Where the Striker has blue accents the FX10 has red, and where the Striker has a hard canopy/chassis top the FX10 has a lexan canopy. The sides of the FX10 chassis are a little different from the Striker. Other than that they are the same car... but also a weird souvenir of that moment in time. Which is something we TCers can probably all understand.
