  1. This years DT Challenge (2017) saw the first Hotshot gearbox class race - GT tuned motors, 2 inch tyres only, ballraces and alloy shocks, UJ's in front.
  2. Yesterday (16/04/17) was the first round of the Kidderminster Summer series. A few of us ran our Tamiya's. We had two re re Bigwigs, my re re Boomerang and a re re Hotshot. A gentleman's agreement saw us all use the Tamiya GT Tuned motor. Racing was fair and even. We found that the 2 inch Schumacher Yellow blocks on the kit wheels worked the best, running around with a Tamiya GT Tuned motor the race pace was not that fast but fun and relaxed. It made for a fun days racing, what we need now is more people to turn up with these cars and race with us. The second Round is on the 21st May.

  4. Hi all. I've just acquired some vintage thunder shot parts and they are in fantastic condition. I would like to make a shelf queen but upgrade the plastic 'bearings' to full ball bearings. The part number for the set is 50241 and was for the hotshot. Please could you let me know if you have anything that can help or point me in the direction to where I might be able to find a set. I'm happy to hunt down individual bearings but I don't the the part numbers or specs on them so if this is something you can provide instead I would be grateful. Thanks in advance.
  5. SOLD Hello all, I am selling my Hotshot, the car has had little use and has been sat in the cupboard far too long not being used so it's time to go. The car comes with acoms servo, Tamiya speed controller 105 I think, 540 motor and has been built with the 54002 bearing kit. Few light scuffs underneath as can be seen in the photos and one m3 x 27 screw is missing from the electronics box 2nd to last photo. The body was originally red then I backed it with black and the red went too dark and I did not like it, so I sprayed the outside of the body black. The cost is £130 including postage, UK sale only. Please let me know if you require anymore info.
  6. My fellow Tamiyans... I've recently picked up this Hot Shot. I haven't pulled it apart other than wheels and body. Is there any tell-tale signs that would, in fact identify this as an early model from the '80's? Or do I have to strip it further the check the driveline etc..? Appears to be in good condition. It arrived with a broken front lower arm but came with a replacement which was slightly different. It didn't have the small triangular protrusion about 2/3 of the way along the outer edge... This got me thinking, was it a re-re or the replacement arm? It fitted up perfectly anyways. After further examination I noticed the rear suspension non existent. This was caused by a broken suspension link tab on the lower rear control arm. One is in the mail. I wonder if it will have the same triangular thingy or not... I just really plan on using modern electrics in the way of a Traxxas XL-5 ESC, a 20T brushed Stinger motor from an older Traxxas Bandit and 2S lipo power. That way I can use it and will keep the original electrics if I ever want to revert back... What else should be done to improve the buggy as a whole? Bearing upgrade is next. I'm guessing I'll have to pull the shocks down and service/clean them. What weight oil is a good all rounder? I added 12mm hexes in place of the tri-drive setup so I could pop on some later wheel/tyre technology. Not sold on the look. Think I'd rather some old styled but 2.2" gold wheels. Tyres will have to remain the exact same diameter, too, correct? I'm unsure of the 4WD system but I think it's a good enough reason considering the stock wheels are all exact diameters. Ugh, I'm rambling... Here's some pics.
  7. Hello all, I am looking at trading the following cars. The wild willy is an unused XB version and has the Tamiya servo fitted and the second buggy is a used TT02B-MS. The buggy includes the box, instructions and a Acoms servo. The tt02 is in very good condition, has had very little use and the only damage is the bodyshell has a crack near the front body post. I am looking to trade for a Hotshot or dark impact kit or new build. Please let me know if you have anything of interest or you would like any more pics or info. I would also be interested in a stadium Blitzer or thunder or frog. Thanks UK Only
  8. Hi, got a project car, it is somewhat in poor condition. In box is states KIT NO. 5847 but I don't really find anything useful with that. I believe it is original 1985 model, in club pages there is manual for 58047 which looks to be right, but that extra zero confuses me... Anyone able to provide some info on this matter. Also tips how to get suspension parts would be valuable. Thanks for you help!
  9. Hello all, Well the Top Force is calling me, having never owned one of these I have decided I need one. With May being an expensive month already as I have the Schumacher Masami on pre order, something has to go to fund the Top Force and I have decided the Super Hotshot is going. I only finished building this a few weeks ago and I had intended to finish the paint and shelve it but now it is going to make way for the Top Force. The price is £185 posted UK only. Please let me know if you are interested, I am away from tomorrow for two weeks, so it gives anyone interested enough time to contact me before it gets listed on you know where. Thanks for looking
  10. sorry no longer for sale as I just bought a supershot to build
  11. Hey Everyone, I am in the process of restoring a vintage Hotshot that I plan to run around the beach a little and various other off-road spots. I am keeping somewhat of a "Vintage Hop-Up" theme, and I am planning to run a Tamiya Super Stock RZ motor. My question is, what ESC would you recommend to run with that motor? Thanks in advance! Brad

  15. Purchased this one online. This was the add: "Original hot shot 2 New gearbox internals .full new ball bearings throughout. New Torque tuned motor .ecs.futaba servo and transmitter and receiver ,1800 NIMH battery and wall socket trickle charger .few aluminum parts made underneath car to replace damaged plastic ones (actually alot better).original tyres and wheels hex hub adaptor included if you want to get new wheels and tyres .x tool included also copy of manual " So far I'm liking it. The two front shocks are slightly different so looking out for some of those. Unfortunately one of the dog bone drive shafts fell out of the back in action. It looks like the little pins are a bit bent and worn. I have found a company in Japan selling these on fleabay. I did the buy now but I'm waiting for them to update the shipping details. Been waiting 2 days for a response so may have to look elsewhere. I plan to run Lipos in the future. This is my second only Tamiya. The first was a GHopper - Loving the 4wd. Let me know your thoughts
  16. This is probably a HUGE shot in the dark, but I am looking to add some vintage buggies to my ever-growing Tamiya collection. Looking for the following: Vintage Hotshot - Prefer NIB, or a used, complete version with the original box Vintage Supershot - Prefer NIB, or a used, complete version with the original box Vintage Super Champ - Just looking for a good version, any condition will be considered Vintage Bigwig - Prefer NIB, or a used, complete version with the original box Finally, this is a crazy one, but I am looking for an original Monogram Lightning, silver edition. These came out in 1984, I received one for Christmas that year. Loved that car, but I drove it into the ground. Seen a few in bad condition, really looking for one NIB, or in really good condition. Here's my ebay name, so you can check my feedback: http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&userid=rare-77-442 Thanks in advance. Brad
  17. Hey fellas, here my dilemma, I'm restoring a vintage Hot Shot for my oldest son (Mac) for Christmas. I picked up 2 vintage Hot Shot beaters to make one complete car out of. My plan was to upgrade the cups and dog bones to the re re parts, but upon assembly yesterday the gearboxes don't wanna close. The case halves don't go together, there is a gap. So, my question is, do I need the re re gear cases to use with the re re cups? The e clips are thicker, so I'm assuming that's where the issue is. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
