  1. Hey all, help required please. So I've been doing up my lunchbox, I've stripped it down and built it back up.. I've also update to an ESC and sport tuned motor. Now, before I put it all in I tested and all works fine, since putting the motor in, it spins but I get zero drive from the wheels...?? What am I doing wrong? I've been told to check the set up of the pinion, but apart from a "piece of paper' on the original instructions, I can't find any other reference. Just seems the motor doesn't engage... Any help greatly appreciated.
  2. I just bought a 2015 Monster Beetle, and I ordered a MIP Super Ball Differential, so I can run it with a stonger motor. Does Tamiya’s Sport tuned motor fit, and in case yes, what pinion could I use to squeeze some more speed out of it? Alternatively, I already have a lightly tuned motor. What pinion could I use on that one? Apologies, if this is a stupid question. I have been away from RC since the late 80ies and back then we used Technigold motors.
  3. I Always wanted one of these and I was on the fence of keeping it in the box or build it. Well as you can see wich one I chose. Video's of it running coming soon!
  4. So my SRB runner was built with a sport tuned motor. I burned the first motor years ago.. so when I replaced it, it went with the smaller spur pinion option. Today, my son was running it in the yard on grass.. after first pack I noticed it was warm.. a few minutes into second pack and car stopped. Motor was definitely hot and smelled crispy! Now a few years have passed between burnt motors but I recalled the old one stopped because one of the brushes had detached. So I looked in armature window and yep, same issue. So I’m now considering other motors options. I modded. Gear box years back to accept a standard brushed can and I’ve seen @Shodog 13t HW EZrun combo. im wondering if there are any other options?
  5. This was the motor I put in my old Hornet years ago. I remember it running pretty well-but now I cannot remember what company made this motor or how it stacks up against a Sport Tuned 540, for example. I think it might have been made by Associated, but I can't be sure. Can anyone I.D. this motor? Thanks for any info.
  6. Thanks, all for inviting me into the Tamiya Club...... I have been in the process of moving the past few weeks and re-discovered my old Hornet packed away in a box of stuff. It originally had a yellow body (photo 1) and a stock 540. I eventually put all ball bearings in it and a "Black Magic" Associated (I think) motor. After cleaning it up and finding all the missing parts, unfortunately I discovered that the original Airtronics radio bit the dust. So I decided to restore it with a new twist...... I always liked the look of the Grasshopper 2 body-and so I stuck one on the old chassis (photo 2) -it fits perfectly after drilling 1 hole in front of the Grasshopper 2 front post hole. And it goes well with the Hornet nerf bars..... Now she has a Sport Tuned 540 ready to go with a new set of tires (photo 3). The Black Magic motor still runs-so it'll be a decent spare...... I'm just waiting for a new Tamiya ESC and some new rear shocks.......Thanks, everyone, for taking a look......
  7. Hi all. I'm selling my Avante 2001. Kit has been dug out of the loft but is all good. Everything is in good condition and works perfectly. I've removed battery and radio gear. Things that are not original are: Rear shocks Tyres (need replacing anyway) Front shock mount (think my dad made the replica aluminium one on it!) There is no radio gear but does have original sport tuned 540 motor and all Cam Locks for wheels are present and working. Post to the States is around 35.00 Euro Post to Europe around 32.00 Euro Price 180.00 Euro I'll give it a week and then it's going on eBay. Many thanks for looking! Adam
