  1. At the start of lockdown, I decided to open this. Unfortunately I was only off work for a few days. But I made progress anyway. Floorpan started. Floorpan finished One side almost complete, and floorpan and rear door. Chassis modified to accept RC running gear. the rear corner windows were a challenge. Got there in the end. Much tidier.
  2. Over a year ago I decided to start a Street Scorcher project after finishing a Sand Scorcher build. One night I popped two Street Rover rear wheels under a Sand Scorcher body and really liked the look. I posted in the What Have You Done Today forum a little, but never started a build thread. So, here I am doing just that. I settled on the M03 chassis for the build. I've done a bit over the last year - created a custom mid section for the M03 to stretch it to a 250mm wheelbase designed a mag-mounting system for the body designed custom front wheels and rear hub caps worked on a roof scoop modified my own Shapeways-printed Sand Scorcher engine for the M03 chassis. I'll go through the build step-by-step properly, but for today this was the look that got me motivated to start this build: S2
  3. I am making a set of body adaptors to mount Lunchbox / VW mini bus body types onto the GF-01 chassis. Had Paul form Berzerk RC in Australia made these. Will ipdate once I receive them & thebody posts.
  4. So, I used to own a MKV GTI that I loved to death. It was the first car where I just enjoyed everything about it. I picked up this kit while I had the car, because I wanted to reproduce it as close as I possibly could, but I have since sold the car. Anyway, this car will sort of be a reminder of the good memories I had of the car. My old MKV GTI My TT-01E build progress Chassis as it sits right now. Hobbywing Justock XR10, Hobbywing Justock 17.5T, TT01 Aluminum drive shaft, Full ball bearings, Tamiya 28T pinion and 55T Spur, Savox 254MG Servo Suspension - upgraded shocks Painted the lightbucket of the headlights the way they're supposed to be like they are from factory. Painted the mirrors accordingly Progress on the body that will be attached with magnets. What's left? 1. Wheels, I bought some wheels that are as close to the stock 18" Hufeisen wheels as possible they're undergoing painting righ tnow. Ideally I'd like to have a replica of the 18" fifteen52 RML Snowflakes that you see in the picture of my old car, but someone would have to 3d print that for me. 2. See if I can possibly replicate the grille slats that I had on my car on the front. 3. Decals! Just the VW emblems and the windshield wipers.
  5. This was my first kit in getting back into R/C. I bought a WT-01N Amarok Custom Lift, because I happen to love VW related vehicles. I didn't really know much about any chassis related things when I bought the kit only to find out that this was the "narrow" version of the WT-01 chassis which wouldn't suit what I had in mind for the truck. I went ahead and bought the corresponding "wider stance" related items I needed from Blackfoot 3 parts. Here are the list of things in the truck. 1. Hobbywing XERun Stock Spec v3.1 ESC 2. SkyRC Ares Pro 10.5T brushless motor 3. Blackfoot 3 control arms, drive shaft, etc. 4. Aluminum shock towers 5. Aluminum dampers 6. Tamiya 20T pinion The truck is now super fun to drive while being stable as well at speed.
  6. I traded a few of my aluminum cnc sand scorcher chassis to my friend and he posted two of them for sale on ebay. this one is machined on the top and bottom, it took about 2.5 hours on my little cnc machine. Also I sand blasted it for a matt finish http://www.ebay.com/itm/CNC-Tamiya-Sand-Scorcher-VW-Chassis-plate-Aluminum-NEW-USA-Scale-Custom-TRF-SRB-/121789807050?hash=item1c5b3cf9ca:g:6QEAAOSwwbdWIYsg This one is machined on the top only and the screw holes for the radio box are counter sunk. http://www.ebay.com/itm/CNC-Tamiya-Sand-Scorcher-VW-Chassis-plate-Aluminum-NEW-USA-Scale-Custom-TRF-SRB-/121789805135?hash=item1c5b3cf24f:g:GWIAAOSw5ZBWIYdO This is what they look like mounted, They can mount in the regular spot or they can be attached above the mount tabs. They are 1/8 thick aluminum. I test fit each one the holes line up perfect.
  7. VINTAGE SAND SCORCHER I am just clearing down as I now have 4 scorchers. I spent many hours restoring this scorcher and then enjoyed thrashing it around on the beach. The bug is all original but is fitted with ballrace bearings which give less friction for longer run times and better performance. I fitted a Tamiya TEU-101BK esc to give better control and more power over the original MSC. The shell is also from a 2010 sand scorcher re-release. It is missing 4 cam locks but I used two bolts with body pins as it was a lot easier than the 4 awkward cam locks. The body has been painted in automotive paints, it isn't a shelf queen standard paint job but it looks awesome flicking up sand. The nosecone has had the number plate reccess filled to give a more racey look. Adding to which it has no glass in the body and number boards in the rear windows to set this bug out from the crowd. The decals are repro and not great quality, a few are slitghtly peeling but that doesn't matter, I built this bug to be enjoyed rather than just looked at. The tyres are original and still in good condition but the fronts are a bit "dry". The outer wheel covers are the originals which have been freshened up with a white aerosol. Sand scorchers are known for there scale replica VW beetle style suspension, however this means that on any surfaces other than sand they have a tendancy to roll even a slow speeds. Therefore, I fitted this bug with rear shocks from a TL-01 touring car which don't allow the rear arms to drop out at a ridiculous angle which makes them much easier to drive anywhere. There is no front shocks fitted to this scorcher. This does not affect the handling at all as the originals leaked so much they were only there for looks. No radio gear is included. You will need, radio gear, battery and front shocks (if you want to have them) to run this bug! Also, included is a driver which still needs finishing. The buyer of this bug will be very, veru happy. This would suit any tamiya collector. I would like £190 ono for this scorcher. UK postage is £12 and will be sent out 1st class recorded. Please PM me if interested.
  8. This is going to be a really slow build as I don't have any paint yet and might have to wait a little while until I order some. ( when I persuade the Mrs, lol) I know this model has taken some flack on the site but when I saw it in Fusion hobbies for £119 UK pounds, I couldn't resist. I have always liked Vw's and this is officially licensed by Volkswagen. No blisters here. At this point, I asked the Mrs if she wanted to sniff the tyres, she did so after that I asked her if she wanted to sniff my willy. she didn't do that. Nice details on this shell. I have marked out the cut lines very roughly but it makes it easier to see. That's it for now, I might get some building done tonight but I am waiting for the rest of the bearings that have been ordered, might be here tomorrow.
