  1. **Braking News — Tamiya presented new spare parts at the Nuremberg Toy Fair: All body posts are now available individually without having to buy the B-parts. Owners of TT02 variants will be particularly pleased because they no longer have to buy the extensive B-parts bag just to get 4 simple body posts. ** I wish this dream would come true one day. 🙂
  2. i recently finished building my Xv01, i have this chassis for a year now and i tested, raced and modified it i read a lot of building tips and hop hup suggestion, i would like to share my choices! ESSENTIAL - INOX Hex schrew conversion set (got separate from a private seller, not official or original, costed me around 15 euros) - INOX sealed ball bearings set (same private seller, non original, also around 20 euros) - XV01 offroad tuning springs - from Amazon i got a complete set of metal modul 0,6 Pinions from 18 t to 25 t for 14 euros - Tamiya #51215 TA05 Spur Gear 70T for a complete adjustability, got new for 3 euros - HRC schock cover ( 5 euros) - spare parts , generlally non expensive and good to have aroung NON ESSENTIAL - front / rear CVD from Tamiya, expensive but fair, in my optinion one can only get the front and sleep quietly - sway bars , too soft springs may require them, also if u go for long damper conversion u NEED them, but i do not find them so essential if u go for an onroad setup with harder shocks NO SENSE - slipper cluch , why? especially if u run brushed and are a new in the hobby. I belive there are rare case where u need it,even in competitve rally i have not seen it once ( online youtuber that race) - reinforced belt (nothing to say about it, run my xv01with stock belt on brushed and rushless... no sense found) - alu pulley ( the plastic may get logorated if the belts slips, having not enough tension, or the pulley is not set in place correcty but u can go cheaper by getting a set of spares for around 12 euros and swap them when usurated isnstead of paying 25 for a pulley ) MODIFICATION THAT MAY HELP Hole in the chassis for the battery plug, is a life changer!
  3. Hello everyone, this is my first post to this great forum. Vive Tamiya! I’m looking to build an XV-01 or XV-02 chassis. TBH, I don’t have a suitable off-road location close at hand to visit regularly enough. So it’s tarmac for me. Even though the XV-01 is reputed to edge out the XV-02 in tarmac handling excitement and really tempts me, it’s the growing plentifulness and better pricing of parts for the XV-02 that is hard to ignore. I see the new XV-02RS PRO variant is available. It’s priced lower than the original XV-02 and yet…it seems to be a step up with the inclusion of more upgraded parts??? Am I reading that right? Is it better equipped than the original?
  4. Here are my first 2 Tamiya builds. Xv01- Tamiya Subaru body. Custom 3d printed wheels. Cc-02- Tamiya Cr02 Fj40 body. SSD bead lock wheels at 1.9. Proline 1.9 tires. The BMW is an MST FXX drift build. #showoff
  5. Project Start: 2023 Chassis - TRF419 / XV02 Body - L&L Models / TeamC Bmw e30 Electrics - LRP / SpeedPassion Paint - TBD Tamiya PS Ambitions - DIY livery / Decals - Functioning driving lights with brake. - Replicate RWD by running only rear belt / rear Diff / rear drive cups - Rear e brake? - Cockpit with cage, full spare wheel/tire textile harnesses As the title and name suggests a JTCC / Macau / Hill climb inspired Bmw M3 e30 build. I love doing less common liveries or bodysets so I’m thinking of doing the SOK livery from the JTCC racing series, alternatively a Motul / Rothmans rally livery. I have had the bodyset since 2020, it comes with a nicely 3D printed front grill, M3 Evo rear wing and wing mirrors. A thread start and a few reference images as inspiration to ignite the fire and create some ownership to the project. Option 1 Option 2
  6. WRC / RALLY Builds thread A dedicated thread for all things rally / hillclimb - Motorsport inspired builds that are not on a permanent track. I’ll start off with the environment context that made me want to start. Project Start: 2021/01 Tamiya TRF417X - 42205 Ambitions - Full LED lighting & make a rally chassis! Welcome to Sweden!
  7. Having been a long time fan of the xv-01 the xv-02 was always going to be a must have. It took some time to obtain all the “unnecessary” but obligatory options, but finally I think I’ve got it mostly together so we can get on with the build. I’ll be comparing notes with the xv01 and at the end will put both cars over my 4 corner scales to get some weight bias data and as well as measuring up if this is indeed a upgrade or just a alternate option. Let’s get on with it!
  8. Hi, I’m looking for a Tamiya XV01 rally chassis. If anyone has one they no longer want, or know someone who wants rid of theirs, please let me know. Thanks, Ewan
  9. This is my short wheelbase XV-01 or what I call the XV-01S. This conversion shortens the standard 257mm wheelbase to 237mm wheelbase allowing you to use the original TA03fs bodies such as the Peugeot 206 and Corolla WRC, or any of the short TA03rs bodies as well. I always enjoyed playing with the TA03FS but as we know parts are not cheap and hard to come by, and are known to crack easily. I then bought the XV-01 Long Damper Spec and enjoyed the durability and performance compared to the TA-03fs. I wanted a strong platform in which I could use the old short bodies, so the XV-01 made the most sense as it is front engine 4wd. Thus the XV-01S was born. Parts List: Upgraded parts include: Ball diff for front and rear (TA06), metal 18t pulley front and rear. Running a tamiya 10.5t sensored motor with the TBLE-02s esc with the tamiya fan. Stock gearing on 2s. metal gear Spectrum servo with gyro. The pictures below show the XV01S next to the original TA03fs for comparison.
  10. Hello all, I'm looking for finished versions of the 1/10 bodies from Tamiya of either the 2007 or 2004 WRX Impreza WRC Rally cars driven by Solberg. Must be in new condition, preferably sealed. Please get in touch if you know where I can find either. Willing to pay good $. Thanks very much Julez
  11. Hi everyone, This is my first post so please be gentle! I'm building the XV01 and I've bought an 8.5T Tamiya/LRP motor and LRP ESC. I'm a real newbie so I have no idea what I've got myself into as far as gearing, and a whole lot of hurt (according to the hobby guy who doesn't want to know me). Can anybody please help me with the number of pinion, spur, and any other advice you're prepared to give time sharing, when it comes to this set up. I have bought a front one way unit, and about to order the slipper clutch and a few other things that I don't really understand to be honest, but they appear to be upgrades! I also rapidly ordered some 70mm shocks, without being sure whether that will suit the model or not. So if you're not totally disgusted with my lack of knowledge while impulse buying on eBay, I'd appreciate any help turning it into a mean rally car that will make me and the mates laugh even if it is over powered. Thanks for reading :)
  12. Hi all. I've just built my xv01 and am very pleased with how it slides about, but a little underwhelmed with its performance on NiMH. I've bought a B6AC Lipo charger. The xv01 has a 1060WP ESC and stock motor. I also have a lunchbox with Tamiya ESC and a sport tuned in it. I know I would need a lipo alarm for that one or different ESC. I need advice regarding if a silvercan / sport tuned would last running 3s, and what battery pack would fit in the xv01. If it's a really bad idea, the same questions regarding 2s. Want to keep the cost down at the moment so steering clear of brushless! Plus, it's all very confusing at the moment. Thanks in advance. 👍
  13. I've wanted a rally car for some time now. Having looked at various options I settled on the TT02. This will be a rally car, an on road car, and a drift car also. I spent some time reading up on the TT02 and it seemed to tick all the boxes. I opted for the Type S which has some tasty upgrades over the standard TT02. So here we go. I started with the wheels. I'm still waiting on the wheels to put the kit on road tires on to. I'm sure you've all seen the TT02 chassis a million times before, but I haven't, and i like it. This is my first 4wd car since my 1990 Pro-Cat! I knocked this little piece up. Any guess as to what it's for? A little guard to keep stones out of the steering. More coming soon, thanks for looking.
  14. I'm going to rebuild the diffs in my XV01 using the guide provided on thercracer.com Team Associated Green Slime is recommended to help stop leaks, but it isn't available at any of my usual places. There's a few other products that seem similar, however I have no idea what the Green Slime is beyond it being referred to as a shock o-ring lube. There's: Tuning Haus Shock O-Ring Grease Team Losi O-Ring Grease GMade Shock Grease Arrowmax O-Ring Grease Sweep Green Grease Does anyone know which would be a good substitute? I'm guessing they're all probably similar stuff?
  15. I just picked up this body shell with a kit, don't really want a BRZ. $30 USD plus shipping. Comes with body, decals, masks, plastic parts, and light fixtures. And note there are no body post holes, so it will fit any standard wheelbase touring/drift car.
