  1. Hi everyone, and happy new year! My next build is going to be the Wild One. I'm not really a fan of the pre painted body, neither the stickers forcing fake sponsors, so I'll do at my own sauce. This morning, I gather all the parts together in the box to make sure I have everything to start Ingredients Vinyls, as I need to do something different and non box art Cheap light buckets less toyish Led kits TBLE-02S and Lipo Alarm, set for Bruhsless Brushless blue can 13.5T motor ball bearings Wires and bullet connectors the motor Other things not present on the picture : 3D Printed led rear attachement, license plate, connectors for leds on the body shell It will probably take some time but I will detail this build as much as my previous ones, and this will happen over the next few days/weeks.
  2. I am playing around with wheel/tyre combinations on my wild one. I have hex adapters for the rear but what I really want is a longer version of 50395 for the front any thoughts??
  3. Firstly I have a wild one Re Re which I bought from @Grumpy pants Not an original original but whatever I feel I should preserve the wheels and tyres. Front end is not a problem. Question is there an adapter available to convert the rear end to Hex wheels. If so could somebody point me in the right direction. Secondly I have a WT01 Amorok with 13.5 brushless power but the tyres just dont make the grade. Is there a tyre to give me more grip? Could get away with just the rears but any advice would be appreciated.
  4. Has anyone got an original red A12 panel for an original Wild One , not the re-re one . New or used - buy or swap / trade for other Wild One parts or w.h.y . pic here :- https://www.tamiyaclub.com/trades_model.asp?id=5280&cid=121295&t=1192018105103 Thanks
  5. Ok. Let me know what you all think about this. I have Supershot, Frog and Wild One renos on the go and have recently purchased diffs for both the Supershot and the Frog. It struck me as i thought about swinging both these diffs into their respective uses that no had one ever bothered with the Wild One in this regard so i experimented. I had to bore out the Wild One gearbox to take the new outdrive bearings and as i had the tool from the Supershot diff set i did this. (The hole saw will not go all the way on one one side, you'll need to flip it and start the original procedure from the outside.) I tried the Frog diff first with a standard Wild One counter gear but the gearbox spacing was wrong so then i tried the Supershot and it worked but there was rub from the pinion side of the counter gear. My solution was to swing in a 49 tooth Frog counter gear and it was as smooth as pie. I haven't run this yet but it will allow the use of the Frog universal shafts too. So provided i haven't sent you all up a certain creek without a certain paddle i'm hoping this may solve diff problems with this model. Apologies, i never mentioned the diffs were MIP.
  6. Was searching thru eBay and came across these 2 being sold for what I though was way too cheap! I looked at the pics and decided to take a gamble and hope for the best! I’ve always wanted a Wild One and Subaru Brat and have the re releases of both of them already. Once they arrived, I took a closer look and confirmed that they were in near mint condition minus the obvious dirt and dust. The only real issue is the Brat has non stock rear tires and is missing the top of the steering wheel. I ended up just washing the Brat body just to make sure nothing was hidden under all the dirt and dust but will get to cleaning the rest of it at a later time. I was really interested in cleaning up the Wild One, which was one of those cars I always wanted as a kid. The paint was looking kind of sad, the roof looked like a dark brownish black and the body didn’t have enough paint on it and was somewhat transparent. Luckily, a little time with some old nitro fuel and the paint is now ready for a respray. I’ll need to get some repro decals when that time comes tho. I got the car all taken apart and cleaned, then reassembled it using hex hardware. Still have to do the paint but with the wild fires raging here in Sonoma county, that’s gonna have to wait!

  8. Hi boyz! Sellig is back and presents his new restauration... Here is the base... In poor condition. But I always loved this buggy. So let's go! First of all, see what can be kept, at this step I don't now what will happen with this frame. But i sanded it with a sandblasting gun & baking soda, polished the roll cage with... Shoe shine, refilled the right gap with plasticard.Last but not least : I built a wonderful roof (isn't it?) from aluminium sheet. However the drive train isn't so bad (but no bearings). All the suspension arms show an important slack, the shocks (What shocks !?) are worn to die, all wheels & tyres too.The hood is out of order... That's all for tonight, see you later!
  9. Hello Everyone, I have a quick question. In 1985, I had the option of a Fox or a Wild One at the age of 13. I chose the Fox as the guy at the Hobby Shop said it was a better performer. Turns out it was. But, like many of you, I have collected several Tamiya buggies including the Wild One I looked at back in the day. Here is the question, around 2001, before all of the rereleases, I purchased a NIB Wild One kit in absolutely mint condition. I probably paid too much for it, $600 US. They won't fetch that much on eBay anymore, which is ok as I don't want to get rid of the buggy. I would really like to have a vintage Wild One to display along with my Wild One rerelease. So, should I build it or keep it NIB? A perfect scenario would be to keep it NIB and find another vintage one to either restore or build, but there doesn't seem to be many for sale right now. If there are, they seem to be in really bad shape. Any thoughts would be appreciated! Thanks, Brad
  10. Hi all, I'm looking for an original Wild One A12 red side panel from the original A parts tree , not the re-re one with the battery wire scoop but the original solid one . I have the opposite side one to swap or swap for the re-re one I have or original FAV one or will buy or trade for something else you might want, new or good used . cheers
  11. This is my first build on here. I've built quite a few Tamiya kits in the past, and as a kid, but this one i'm taking my time with. Any thoughts welcomed. First job is to paint this chap. This is the first time I've ever had the patience to paint a driver. Not perfect, but i'm pleased with how he looks. I wasn't using the rear box, so i made a lid/fuel cell to hide the wiring for the lights. Plenty of wires to hide! And, here's where i'm upto. More to come when i get five minutes.
  12. Turns out I will end up with a Wild One runner in addition to a shelfer, since I built a Wild One based on a re-re chassis without realizing there are significant differences. So will finish it off as a runner. NOW to find a vintage chassis either new or nice used condition. Anyone have?? Alternatively, may consider buying or trading or some mix for a vintage Wild One chassis in new built or close condition - don't need a body though, as my buddy Mincemeat who's done some bodies for me in the past is finishing my boxed vintage body set for me, along with a few others, in exchange for a nice Traxxas Bullet project which I know he's wanted to have a nice Bullet for a while. A bit of a tangent there... but please LMK if u have a chassis or a complete roller you'd sell / trade, body not needed. THANKS PARTY PEOPLE

  14. Hello Everyone, I am the club secretary at Mendip RC Raceway in Weston Super Mare and we are planning a Tamiya Club based weekend in 2014. Dates subject to discussion. We have both an on road and off road track with full timing facilities, sit down cafe, toilet block, covered pits with electric, on site camping and plenty of car parking. We plan to have on road classes for Touring cars, Minis, F1s and anything else on road. For off road racing classes for SRBs, Wild Willys, FAVs/Wild Ones, and any other Tamiya off road 4wd & 2wd cars. After much discussion we are proposing using Tamiya silver (standard or torque tuned) or Black (sport tuned) 540 brushed motors for the event for four reasons. Most tamiya collectors already have them, they are cheap, they will keep the speeds pretty level making the racing close & competitive and the lower speeds will help protect peoples prized cars from too much damaged. All classes depend on the number of entries. On the Saturday night we will have a BBQ and night racing. As Weston Super Mare is a popular holiday destination there is no lack of B&Bs and hotels if camping is not for you as well as pubs, clubs and bars to make a weekend of it for all the family. We will also do souvenir merchandise for the event. We will also encourage a swap meet. I have already spoke with a few people on here and there seems to be a lot of interest. We are currently sorting out our diary and I will be back to publish some dates by the new year. Let me know if you would prefer a Saturday/Sunday meet or a Sunday/Bank Holiday meet if possible. Below are links to our web site with videos of both tracks. http://www.worm-racing.co.uk/ http://www.mendiprcraceway.co.uk/ Let me know any feedback. Paul
  15. Hi everyone, I'm hoping someone with some more experience that I can help with my inquiry.... I have recently put together a new Tamiya Wild One re-issue and need some help finding a lipo battery pack that will fit into the standard battery compartment. I tried this model: RC Turnigy 4000mAh 2S 30C Lipo Pack .... but it was too big. Can anyone please advise what will fit without modification and provide similar (or more) power and run time? Or is there a modification that WIld One owners are performing to accommodate lipos? Any help is appreciated it advance.
  16. Hi everyone, Further to a recent thread, here are some pics of my Wild One that I finally got painted and 99% done. I still have to paint and install the driver but aside from that, the exterior is done. I hope you like them!
  17. Looking for a pair of front shock stays for my Wild One runner. They do not need to be in mint condition just tidy will do. What do you have?
  18. Hi all, I'm returning to a fun hobby and are in the middle of building a re-issue Wild One and have a couple of questions that I hope someone out there can help me with: 1) I have some aftermarket wheels that have a large, six-sided hub pattern, so I ordered some wheel adapters based on some information provided on another forum. While the adapters for the rear worked great, the front are not correct. The problem is that the front axles are just spindles and do not have an option for the small metal tube that runs through the rear axle - which the adapters use to lock onto the axle. Is it supposed to be like that for the front wheels? Or am I just supposed to bolt up the rims to the existing spindles? 2) What is the best method to trim the edges from the front bumper? As it looks like my aftermarket wheels are going to rub.... 3) I have a ESC and 10T 3500 brushless engine ( I think it was the "EZ-RUN" set). Is a 3S lipo a good match for that ESC/engine combination? 4) Is there any way to not use the 4xAA battery pack (which I believe powers the receiver) and still have it function correctly? 5) There is a small switch in the ESC that is connected by a thin wire - what is that for? Is there a way to override that and have it run on the receiver power? Any help would be much appreciated and I'll be sure to post pics of the build when it's done (att. is a mock up so far)! Thanks in advance!
  19. This is a model i know nothing of but i am looking at one. Is it worth looking at? How about driveability and value for money?
  20. Hey fellas, I'm in dire need of new counter gears for my fox. I think there could be a few models that share the counter gear with the Gox, but are not listed as such because the differential is unique to the Fox. So I'm hoping that between all the members at TC we can compare a few counter gears and find a gear we can use. The counter gears which I've come across which look as if they could work are these: Wild One/FAV Striker Hot Shot/Super Shot/Boomerang I have. Boomerang which I'll be tearing down soon, so I will compare that gear. If some one could compare or at least measure the others that would be great. Thanks in advance!
  21. Thinking about the ugly Fox and Falcon shafts. Frog UJs seems good for the Falcon but no, they are not. The wheel axle is too long. But if I disassemble the Frog UJs and use a normal short axle can it works? The Frog and Falcon half shafts are the same length? And what about the Fox? Somebody knows the length of the Fox half shafts? Can something be similar? Max
