  1. I currently have my eyes on the df03 dark impact and the db01 durga, now i understand that the durga is a much superior chassis, although i can’t just let go of the fact that the dark impact is that much better in the looks department (for my personal taste anyway) especially with the livery i’ve come up with for it. With some upgrades, would the dark impact stack up to the durga? would its high ground clearance be important to the performance in terms of bashing? Attached is the livery i mentioned if anyone is interested
  2. Hello everyone - I'm on the hunt for a decal sheet for a Tamiya DF-03 Keen Hawk resto (Sheet part number: 9495502) Currently I'm in discussion with a couple of companies who are looking at re-printing these using a scan of the original decal sheet (which I've attached if anyone else benefits from it) A decent reproduction of the sheet would be good however if you have, or know of anyone who might have this decal sheet and is willing to sell it, I'll pay decent money or sell a kidney for it! Many Thanks! - Tom
  3. Looking for a couple of 3Racing Aluminium Rear Gear Box Stiffener For Tamiya DF-03 (p/n. DF03-22/LB) Prefer UK seller, but will buy from overseas if needed. Thanks.
  4. Very new to RC and have just almost completed my first build of a Black Dark Impact DF-03. I was very lucky and got to visit Tokyo and specifically a fantastic store called RC Champ/RC Adviser and pick up a complete RC setup. I have some questions about installing a Brushless Motor to replace the 540 stock motor. My problem is that I am trying to install a Yokomo BL-SP4 Brushless Motor but it is not the same length as the stock 540. By disassembling the rear of the chassis I was able to get the Yokomo fitted but the solder mount for the three wires is an extremely tight fit and I had to bend the wires back to get them leading the correct direction and out of the motor mount to reach my ESC. Secondly, I just am too stupid to understand how to Setup the ESC correctly. I hold down the SET button but don't understand how long I am supposed to wait for the LED Lights to change when setting Neutral, Forward, and Brake. The Yokomo manual is very poorly written. Reading the setup part of the BL-SP4 manual can anyone help me out? Setting up an ESC should be very simple but not for a beginner with no experience, BL-SP4 manual
  5. Hi everyone. After years of rather enviously looking at the big Tamiya boxes in the hobby shop I've decided to take the plunge. What I'd like is a good basic 190mm rally setup to be able to traverse the woods and pathways around where I live. Just trying to figure out what's the best entry point from what I've learnt through reading this forum and others, which is: XV-01 is probably the best chassis/package. It can easily be upgraded with longer shocks for more travel/clearance BUT doing this then limits the choice of bodies to boxy things like the Impreza hatchback, Evo X and Integrale to fit the longer suspension inside. DF-03 is better than a converted touring car chassis like a TT for rallying but seems out of favour compared with XV-01. Not sure how it compares on ground clearance or what options there are to spring it best for where I want to take it M-06 just looks like fun, and the build of the Alpine A110 that I saw using CVA Mini shocks to increase clearance and travel, plus fitting rally block tyres, looks brilliant. Just not sure how deep in the forest she'll get! At the moment I've got three options that I've focused on and would like to see what you guys think. Option 1) Blow the cash and get an XV-01 with longer shocks plus an aftermarket body like a Skoda Fabia S2000. Even with the basic 'retailer's bundle' electronics that's close to £400, which is an interesting prospect... but if you're gonna be a bear, you'd better be a grizzly Option 2) Go for a DF-03 with a Lancer Evo V body, my all-time favourite rally car, and find out what the best options on shocks are Option 3) Build a little Alpine or Beetle with CVA Mini shocks and rally block tyres, accepting that it will probably get stuck more often but, awww, it looks cute Given all that, may I ask you experts whether you think I've understood things correctly and which of my three options you like? Also, given that I'm not competing or anything, can I get away with the sort of servos and electronics that are on offer from most retailers' set menus or is it toy-grade stuff? Many, many thanks in advance for your thoughts. I shall try to be a bit less of an irritating newbie ASAP!
  6. I've just picked up a DF-03 to race in the park with, I've added a 19t motor but its getting quite warm after about 30 mins of running. I am using the standard 26 tooth pinion, its not too hot to touch but its quite warm...is this a problem ? Is the mesh against the spur too tight? It goes like a rocket but was a bit concerned ? Do I need a bigger pinion and if so will this effect the top end ? Also the battery was getting pretty warm too, Im just running a 4700mah NIMH but as the battert compartment is pretty snug it thought it might be that. Cheers
