  1. So this was basically free with latest car lot I received and it was the worst of them. Both rear and right front axles are broken, missing gears and diff, stickers are peeling, tires have flat spots, missing front shocks, cracks, rusted, missing screws, bolts and more but I must say im excited to start working on it. I always wanted one of these as I am a Ivan Stewart fan but it wasn't top priority. My challenge to myself is to completely restore this one without buying anything for it just using everything I have in my inventory. I enjoy restoring builds that had been beaten up and forgotten. I appreciate it more when its finally done. Lets see how this turns out. 👍
  2. Looking for CCP parts for tamiya. Preferably king cab wheels but also interested in other parts.
  3. So I finally finished the paint job that a lot of people thought I was crazy for attempting. First I tracked down an original king cab body that I have been searching for years in a Japan auction site and fought really hard in a bid war and won. But then the decision of painting it had to be made. A lot of people said I should just leave it in the box unpainted, and the king cab is one of the most difficult bodies to paint, but I just had to do it. Yes, I feel could have done a better job, but it's not bad for it being my first lexan body paint job,my first air brush paint job, and my first original tamiya king cab body. I really took my time with this one a total of 6 days to complete but it was worth it. I know this might be small to some, but im proud of how it came out and proud to finally be an all original tamiya king cab owner that I painted and built myself. All my other king cab bodies besides the plastic ones I have paid someone to do or they came already painted as I was afraid to tackle lexan bodies. Well not anymore! 😁

  5. Replaced all the old beat-up stickers with vinyl that I cut myself. Touched up the missing paint, fixed the cracks, and replaced all of the broken parts. Instead of using the red factory wheels, I thought these vintage sees wheels complement the colors of this beautiful truck. I must say I am proud of this restored project she is starting to look better than before! #tamiyamonsterracer #ivanstewart #tamiyakingcab #tamiyarc

  7. The 4th and last tamiya king cab I am working on a special as my grandparents from the south who are no longer here use to love them some Roger Mears and Ivan Stewart. So combine that with my love for the king cab and the nissan truck im general just felt right. Im going all tamiya with this one installing Tble-04sr esc and a brushless TBLM-02S motor. Upgraded all the gears with thorp and installed the new diff to handle all the power. The drivers are Roger Mears and his brother Rick Mears on the passenger side having a BUD while taking his brother's notes. I lowered the suspension as this will be a off and on road truck. Oh and both of their heads will turn like the tyco heads up hoppers back in the days.
  8. I just wanted to show some still shots of the Tamiya King Cabs running on the track that I built. Like I said in my previous post my goal was to try and recapture those epic moments cought in the 1990 Radio Control Car Action Magazine. I will let you all decide if I completed this task when I release the footage. Among the still shots are pics of the trucks after I ran them to show the haters who laughed and said I was "crazy" to even run these "shelf queens" that they came home without a single scratch. Sorry to disappoint you! 😂 Anyway I had a blast and finally felt what Tex McDonald was feeling when he kissed the sky! I appreciate everyone who took interest in this project as usual and stay tuned for the next one!

  10. Ok so by now im sure a lot of you know how I feel about the king cab but believe it or not this beautiful black and yellow one right here that was featured in the 1990 April Edition of Radio Control Car Action Magazine was the first time I saw the King Cab. Thats right not the original box art one but this one. I remember like it was yesterday as a kid standing in the magazine section of the supermarket as my mom did grocery shopping I picked this issue up and my jaw dropped when I saw this truck. It was later on I found out the red white and blue was the original. But I still couldn't afford either one of them so I just had to settle with the magazine and drool over the pics. I owned this magazine twice as kid, lost it and tracked it down agian as an adult. I must have read the article 100 times and just imagined how much fun Tex McDonald (who I circled in the picture)was having while driving this beauty. Well my goal and dream is to have this truck and relive those great moments he was having in the article. I will start on the track tomorrow so wish me luck and stay tuned!
  11. I have been looking for this truck for years! I wanted one of these since a kid but unfortunately my mother was a single parent of 4 kids so I had to settle with a tyco bandit but I was appreciative and loved my bandit too pieces..literally lol but as I got older and had kids of my own I said I would one day get one of these trucks and boy was it a challenge! Tamiya never re released this one for some reason and trying to find one for a decent price is very challenging. I love the king cab so much I made my tyco bandit and other RC trucks into one. Now I don't have to anymore! No the body olis not original and im fine with that but everything else is and big boy never look so good to me. I am overjoyed today!
  12. I am a Tyco and Tamiya RC collector I love the bandit and really love the King Cab but its really hard to find a king cab in good condition so for now I decided to make one of my old beat up bandits into one. I have seen people do this before but never use the bandit chassis they usually will use just the bandit body and a hobby grade chassis so I decided to build it using all tyco parts and some upgrades. It has custom lights, engine sound, servo, 4700kv brushless motor and 60A esc running on a 3s lipo battery. I like the way it turned out and it will hold me down until I finally find a King Cab. I will upload video's of it running soon. Thanks!
  13. Hello I was wondering if there was a alternative for the rear axle shaft with the splines on them. Is there any I could use that have the pin hole?

  18. Looking for some advice/feedback..Starting to revive my old King Cab (quarantine madness setting in)... I ordered & installed the electronics a few months ago to get it running.. Now I just broke the bank and ordered one of stupidly expensive Thorp diff kits off of eBay (trans was slipping big time and had that melting smell from the last run)..Also ordered: New screw kit had the TBG body for years but never painted it (scared to ruin it!) Proline front tires
