This Lexan body was painted with Tamiya PS-46 Iridescent Purple/Green on the inside and then backed on the inside with PS-5 Black. I then cut away the overfilm on the bed surface and sprayed PS-5 Black on the outside. I am used to PS paint becoming dull or flat when sprayed on the outside of a polycarbonate body shell. In this case, as you can see in the video and image below, it became gloss. Why? I want to spray another already-painted body with some white on the outside and I want to ensure it will be glossy white. How can I ensure this will happen? Can PS-58 Pearl Clear be sprayed on the outside of a polycarb body shell and give a glossy finish? Click the first image and it will show a video. The second is just an image.

I painted a body and began peelng off the window masks. They are fighting me and a lot of adhesive is left behind. Is Goo Gone safe for polycarbonate? What do you suggest to clean Lexan? Hopefully it is something I have around the household.

Are there any spray paints other than the Tamiya PS range that are any good for painting the inside of a clear shell? I specifically need metallic brown but could maybe lay solid brown over a pearl coat? Does that work? Either way I can't find polycarbonate brown spray anywhere - anyone got any ideas please?

I couldn't find any answers with the search function - forgive me if this has been discussed before: I have a 2011 Beetle Blitzer kit coming in the mail. I would like to make my own lexan body - for my own use, not interested in the bay etc. It's hard to find a replacement body here in Canada + my 3 boys will inevitably wreck the original body. Question: Is there a way I can mold the body that came with the kit so I can reproduce it with Lexan? I'm sure someone has done it - easy to reproduce an already made body using Plaster of Paris, but I was hoping to copy the body that came with the kit. Thanks for any advice!

Hi Everyone, this is my first post in 10 years! I'm getting my 2 boys into the RC hobby and starting them off with a couple of Stadium Blitzers that my brother and I used to race. We are putting a Beetle body on one of them so I thought I would share the progress. How do you like it? Cheers! AZ

Hi all. I've recently painted 2 shells for my dark impact although what I've learnt I feel can be applied to most if not all lexan window masking. Although I have only painted 2 shells I found what I believe the easiest and most accurate way of getting window masking right first time. On the first shell I cut lots of strips of tamiya masking tamiya which not only took ages but also found it wasn't particularly accurate. On the second shell I decided a different approach using the following steps: 1) I got myself a sheet of tamiya masking tape (part no. 87130) 2) Cut the windows out from the bodyshell sticker kit 3) Leaving the backing on the stickers, I rolled a small piece of regular sticky tape onto itself and sandwiched it between the backing of the window sticker and the non adhesive (yellow) side of the masking tape 4) I then cut out around the windows using them as a template and using a scalpel 5) Once all 3 were cut I could remove the undamaged window stickers (if I decided to use them at a later date). I was then left with perfect fit window masks to stick on the inside of the lexan Sadly I didn't think to take pictures of the process but if people want pics I can take some when I do my next shell. I couldn't believe how much easier it was to do the above and gave much better results.
