  1. This one is in Lavender paint, box art, looks pretty good I think. The extra running lights are Pink actually. (Hard to tell in pics.) Extra's, MFC-01, support legs, alminum wheels, antenna's, and a 3D ford logo.
  2. This one might be my favorite? I always wanted to do this but thought it was too much work. Not too many of these around. Believe me I searched. The Los Angeles Trio on YouTube is about it. I studied online and downloaded pics. of real fire trucks for months. Picked what I liked of the trucks and put those ideas into one truck. Was going to make cab longer but was during the Pandemic and an extra body was not available. I did not want to wait so I went this way. I enjoyed out-sourcing all the parts for this one, coming up with ideas of things to use to make it look like the real thing, and bringing it all together. I started with a Globe Liner (of course), added to the body at the bottom, made the back doors for fireman. (visual only). Bondo, sand, repeat. Made A/C unit on roof, the flasher unit for red, blue, clear lights, and one for the back spread out lights. The back bed is scratch built. It has a water tank in the back and pumps through a "monitor" on top of the truck and is fully functional. I installed a Beier SFR-1 (my first one) into the truck. Has fire engine horn and sirens. Plays part of the song "Burning Down the House" from The Talking Heads. Extra strong suspension (water tank). Even found a little flag. Ohh, and notice the flag decal in the front grill. And the exhaust pipe. I used kerosene lantern wicks to simulate white hoses. I used hydraulic fittings to simulate hose connectors (just for show). Found some gauge decals. Basically, just went with it. It is pic heavy and some are blurred but thought they were relevant. Saved the best truck for last. I do have more trucks and trailers, just never took pictures of them. ?? There is a lot of Pictures, hope it does not bore everyone. Hope everyone enjoys this one!!
  3. This is my 60 Ton Wrecker, LongHaul Towing. Made from a Grand Hauler. This one took a long time to build as is mostly scratch built, figuring it out, and alot of remote stuff. (1.5 years )It is on a 36" frame, with a Caterpillar engine, cut out tilt hood, 3 axle drive, fully working boom and tow bar, 3 working winches, flash warning lights, spot lights, and a whole lot of blue lights. This is one of my heaviest trucks and is a bear to steer around the house, do to it's length. All the tamiya gear, transmission and servo's had to be moved back in new positions. This is the sister truck to my LongHaul Towing "Rollback Tow Truck". Some reason I never got pictures of that one. Scatch built and used a Knight Hauler body. Made this one before Rollback Beds were made. And will haul a semi truck. Now to the pictures of the 60 Ton Wrecker.
  4. A little bit about this tuck. I added all running lights into it. The spotlights work, the ones that came with it, the three on the lower part of the truck, the two over the side doors (4), four rear facing spot lights, and four Lesu added spot lights. (very small if you look carefully) Also has red and yellow flash lights.(front and rear) (my made circuit) The amber flash cherry light was changed with Lesu lights that were installed in the original cherry light housing. (some cutting and trimming) The lights on the rear "Wing" brake and turn lights also work. Has a MFC-03 and actuater. Body is hinged with Lesu hinge made for this truck. The Michelin Man/Men on roof. Lesu alum. wheels. A Volvo sign in the cab and dome light. ( I made) My own electronics to run everything. Became a wiring nightmare, with no space for it, because light wiring adds up and not designed for it, but it worked. Interior is painted as seen on the box (yellow stripe on seats) and looks quite good. Oh, if you look on the front of truck I put 2 eye's to make a face on the grill. Not sure where I got them but put them on. Alot of extras can be done on this truck, which some people have done. (like making all parts moveable) If anyone thinking of building one. Just need alot of radio channels and patients. So I quite while I was ahead. Now to the pics.
  5. Here are some of my trucks together. The 5 together (US trucks) give a good length difference between them. King Hauler is shorter than it looks with out bull bar. And no Grand Hauler which is the longest of the bunch. Enjoy!
  6. Another one. This is painted with Purple. It doesn't look purple in pics.(Blue'ish) Mods are, aluminum wheels, extra running lights (purple or UV), 2 antenna's, (where Cascadia trucks have them mounted) a driver looking left, MFC-01, support legs, And thats about it. I don't know why I don't have wall to block electronics in cab? Needs to be revisited! I wish Tamiya still made the Cascadia. It has the most room inside of all the trucks.I know it was always contracted for a short time. The Knight Hauler is a freightliner also. Shush, don't tell any one. Well here are the pics. Needs a purple pin strpe also!
  7. This was my 2nd truck build with the reefer trailer. (no picks of trailer, sorry)
  8. This one works but not happy with the elctronis setup. No sound, has lights but don't like that setup either. Needs a Beier, I think it will fit inside. A MFC will not fit so thats out. Any way another day another time. Here are some pics., hope everyone enjoys. To give credit to "RCP" for the dump bed.
  9. This was painted in Park Green. Has some upgrades. Alum wheels, Tires, Bull bar, Wind deflector, Support legs, Extra lights which turn on with run lights from MFC, and of course CB antennas.
  10. This one I really like. (Original) When I was a kid, around 1976' ish these were all around at construction sites. So i decided to make one. I also remember them being driven by a big old chain, which I watched at a red light in the back seat of my parents car. The body is from "Shapeways" ( no longer-bummer) I sanded the body I don't know how many times and could not get it smooth? I didn't want to bondo the whole thing so here it is. Tried the acetone thing to - no good. The mixer is from a "Bruder", on a Grand Hauler frame, the stars were hard to find (auto graphics - if any one remembers them), the mixer will turn, and the shoot in back moves from side to side via servo. The chain thing might be a problem but will see (if ESC I have is strong enough). I've seen it done differently and might be better idea, but wanted a mixer the way I remember. Too much info? Here are the pictures.
  11. This is my MB 1850L box art, but looks nice with the Coral Blue color. A few upgrades. I always use the DOT tape, aluminum wheels, MFC-03, and some extra lights. (Blue dome light) Here it is.

  13. Globe liner in the classic yellow. A few extras. Like bearings, rims, wind deflector, extra running lights, and antennas. This is "stock" But for some reason has get up and go. Maybe the size?
  14. This is one of my favorites. Alot of lights, wore me out soldering them all and hiding wires. Upgrades were Super Single tires/wheels (I think that is what there called), I had to get those. Have not seen those around lately? Of course bearings, decals, and antennas.
  15. This truck is fun to drive. Because of it's short size it just whips around.
  16. I like the way this one came out. Got the idea from someone on another site. But went my own way with it. Enjoy!
  17. This one took 2 truck kits. A 1850LM and Cascadia. They would use this truck at my work around Christmas. (to pick the extra loads) I studied it and recreated it.
  18. Another one of my trucks. Took 2 kits again, the 1850LM and Areomax.
  19. We all like pictures, here are some. This paint job was challenging! Not perfect but came out pretty good.
  20. Here is one of my trucks. We all like pictures so here are some. I have , I think 26 trucks? I was addicted! 21. I painted this Nissan Silvia body using Tamiya Translucent paint. There was interest in my previous translucent paint job, so I decided to take pictures of each step to show how to do it. I used these colors: For each "coat" of paint, I hold the can about 6 - 8 inches away from the body and spray in side-to-side or up-to-down strokes. I want the paint to dust onto the body in a mist. I don't want to paint in stripes. I aim for complete coverage by the 3rd application of paint, or when the can runs out. The time between each coat depends on when the paint flashes off. When you first apply the paint, you can see that it is very glossy and wet. If you watch the paint, you'll see it flash off and lose it's gloss. It'll still be wet, but will have a matte look to it. Soon after that, I apply the next coat. The temperature that you're painting in will determine how long this takes. On a cool day of 60F, this could take up to 5mins, but on a hot day this will be a lot faster. Just make sure the paint looks dry before applying the next light coat. Here's the body after the first coat of Translucent. Held up to the light, it's very see-through. Here it is after the 2nd coat of Translucent: A little more orange, but still very see-through. The 3rd coat of Translucent: At this point, there wasn't much left in the can, so I was holding the body up to the light and looking for any area's that looked uneven. In particular the lines and crevices in the bumpers or around the windows. Here's how it looks now: Here's how it looks from the outside when held up to the light. If I stopped here, this is how it would look. If I backed this with black, I would just get a dark orange color that wouldn't be that appealing. The next step is where the magic happens. Here's the first dusting of Bright Silver: You can already see the color starting to change on the outside. It looks like there's some yellow in the orange. Here's the next coat of Bright Silver. I had complete coverage by this step and stopped here with the Bright Silver. When held up to the light, you can see that it is still semitransparent. If you look at the shadow from my hand, you see the silver. First coat of Black. Held up to the light: Next coat of black. I put the black on a bit heavier here. Held up to the light, you can no longer see through the body. I gave it a couple hours to dry, and then removed the masks and overspray film. This is the body in direct sunlight. You can see the metal flake from the Bright Silver showing through, giving depth to the paint. Indoor lighting showing the metal flake.
  22. Hi everyone, Further to a recent thread, here are some pics of my Wild One that I finally got painted and 99% done. I still have to paint and install the driver but aside from that, the exterior is done. I hope you like them!
