  1. This is a follow up to two great Mf-01x 911 projects. The first by Juls1 and the second by OldSchoolRC1. If you haven't seen their threads yet and want detailed info on converting a mini size Mf-01x to a TT-01 size short wheelbase you should take a look. Many of the drive train and suspension mods I had in mind before I started building but their excellent builds are a proof of concept and worth a peek. The only thing that really bugged me about Tamiya's excellent 2.7 RSR where the wheels. While they look great for a modern Fuch wheel, they are too low profile to look period correct. I made my own Fuch wheels that had a black ring on the rim to simulate a high profile tire from the 70's. Its a solution similar to what Tamiya did on the F104 F1 wheels. The TL-01 long span suspension was for the most part, a direct fit but I had to make rear upright extensions, and front & rear shock mounts similar to OldSchoolRC1's car.
  2. Well, been a while since I last posted... I'm taking the plunge, decided on building up a Porsche 959 based on the new MF-01X chassis set at 210mm. Ordered the following - 1/12 TGB P type 959 body - TGB P Type 959 wing - TGB P Type 959 interior - ******* 959 sticker set Need to buy - Jimny MF-01X - Options… :-) - RC Rally Raiders 959 1/10 wheels Looking for some insight on locating some 959 drivers heads. Anybody have any used bits they can part with? Don't fancy sporting for eBay units and can also craft my own. Interesting possibilities are Knight Customs SRB 3D printed head, helmet and visor. Just 1/10 scale and wondering if they could be scaled down? I do have several kits of the Toyota 4WD driver and could use the head only version, create a helmet and make a visor. Any other suggestions? TIA. Cheers, Thompson
  3. Hey all, I have a TT02 Carrere RSR and found when I buy tires for it they are tucked too far inside the wheel wells. I’ve gone to zero offset at the front and 3mm at the rear wish still isn’t enough. I’m thinking 3mm in the front and 6mm in the rear? Has anyone tried this or have suggestions for different rims/tire combination that look a bit more realistic?
  4. Hi I’m about to start build a TT-02 based Porsche 911 RSR but I’m not sure on the; wheelbase, ride-hight and tread setting. I think it should be: Wheelbase = Short Ride-hight = Standard Tread = Standard If you built one or know the chassis configuration could you let me know if I have this correct. Thanks.
  5. I have a 911 RSR arriving in the next few days. My plan is to not do it as per the box art, but go for this colour scheme I've seen on the Singer website: As such, I'm looking for some basic decals with "Porsche" in orange etc on them. Can anyone point me in the direction of where I might be able to buy these?
  6. This is a project I've had in mind for a long time... Juls1 beat me to it - Great build! I agree 100%, I built my first MF as an offroad truck, but it was just too small. I ended up selling it, regretting it, and bought another to convert into a Porsche of some sort. To that end, I had bought an MF01 a while ago for this exact purpose, but quite honestly once I built it up stock-ish and took it for a test drive, I loved it.. So I used the parts I bought, picked up a few more and built up both a MF01 and TL01LA (of sorts) - they came out great! I didn't have the heart to tear them down, and this project has been in my head forever so I sold off an M06 I had and bought another MF01 kit. I picked up another Beetle Rally version and a few hop ups. I had the Porsche body laying around from my previous attempt. My shelf queen TL01LA was torn down to donate parts for this project. I'm not sure if all the suspension bits will work or not due to the quirks of the MF chassis, but we'll give it a go anyway. Plus a box of goodies from my previous MF project. Can never have enough parts when mixing and matching kits. Love it when the workbench is filled with parts trees, manuals, and tools. Going to be a good day!
  7. After a year long hiatus, I’m back! The weather has turned, and with warm weather, the RC bug bites. I have been really enjoying my first rally car, a TT02 Datsun 240z. The build thread is on here somewhere. Some pics. http:// http:// http:// http:// http:// I am now going to try and build a Porsche 911 rally on a TT02 chassis. I love the versatility of the rally chassis, and my Datsun is a blast to drive. Can’t wait to get started.
  8. I have but one requirement on all of my cars. The motor should sit in the same approximate place as the real car. So here we go. I like the Porsche 911, for me the styling is hit or miss. Early 911s are beautiful, 935s are beautiful, 993s are beautiful, and I really like the 991. Part of its beauty is that it is an oddball. Mid-engine has had a clear advantage for the ultimate in performance since its debut. So undeniable is this fact that for the first time the 911 RSR will now feature a midship layout. Not like the 1990s 911 GT1, which is essentially a group C car with 911 windows and lights, of which less than 50 were ever built. How could I possibly not make my 993 rear engine when Tamiya makes it easy? I excitedly built the gearbox section without even taking a photo. It's all standard fare, plus bearings of course. Here it is before joining the section to the main chassis: More to come!
  9. Hi, I have an original #58001 Porsche 934 Turbo RSR for sale. It was built in 1984 and never run. Very complete and original. Tires are still in great condition too. Includes original box. Fantastic car, and I would love to keep it, but I need $ for other projects. $650 Located in Alameda, CA 94501.
  10. Hi folks, A few years back I posted a few photos here on the forum about my rather sad original #58001 Porsche: https://www.tamiyaclub.com/forum/index.php?/topic/52184-is-this-a-58001-porsche I never got around to doing anything with it since then (my focus is offroad RC) so I've listed it on starting at a dollar: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Vintage-original-58001-Tamiya-Porsche-Turbo-RSR-934-RC-car-DOLLAR-START-/122706228385 or search for "Vintage original 58001 Tamiya Porsche Turbo RSR 934 RC car DOLLAR START" eBay item# 122706228385 I'm in Australia, but happy to ship to many countries in the world. Thanks for looking, Steve (1944GPW)
  11. Hey there! Recently found an old Porsche 935 turbo r/c model still new in it's box. The box it's self is kinda beat up but everything inside is still in its packaging and untouched! I did some research on it and know it's a rare and valuable model, because of that I would rather sell it to some one who would really want it for their collection. I'm located in Boston, MA Link to a gallery for more pictures: https://goo.gl/photos/8acaVGkzTrpheocx9 You can make an offer for it here or private message me. Model has been put up for sale on Ebay! If there's anyone interested in it you can check it out here. >> http://www.ebay.com/itm/Tamiya-Martini-Porsche-935-turbo-58002-/112473651042?hash=item1a2ff3b762:g:lvYAAOSwvPRZYBdL

  13. Hi, I'm in the process of rebuilding an old 959 that was in a really bad condition, with lots of broken parts. Over the last few months, I found almost evething needed but now the only parts missing are the R1 and R2 rear hubs. Mine are just too damaged to do anything. Does somebody have some spare to sell or a clue on where I could find them? Thanks.
  14. Reluctantly I am putting up for sale my gorgeous Porsche 911 GT1, which has been hopped up beyond TRF spec with almost every single TA03 Hop Up imaginable including some nice rare official Tamiya hex head hardware too. It has never been ran in its current state with the only used parts being the Eurethane front bumper, some hop ups (that have been cleaned up) and some plastic parts. Most of the plastics are the rare black type with only a few small parts using the original grey ones. The body is new built and never ran, it was cut, painted and decalled by myself to a pretty good standard (as can be seen by the pictures). What you see is what you get and I will list below the extensive hop ups that have been used, some of which are ultra rare to find these days. So what you get ........ is a TA03R-S chassis that has had the following fitted, 53387 - TA03R-S FRP Chassis Conversion (part J5 has been replaced with some alloys spacers) 53386 - TA03R-S Carbon Chassis Plates. 53267 - TA03 Ball Diff (fitted to the rear) 53200 - 4WD Front One Way Diff (fitted to the front) 53326 - TA03 Alluminium Steering Set 53274 - TA03 Aluminium Counter Shaft 53200 - TA03 Universal Swing Shafts (Blue) 49091 - TA03 Lightweight Drive Shafts Purple (fitted to the rear) 53279 - TA03 Torque Splitter Unit 53261 - TA03F Pro Carbon Battery Plate Set 53276 - TA03 Fluorescent Colour Stabilizer Set 53163 - On Road Spring Set 53333 - Touring Car Tuned Spring Set (short type) 53337 - TA03 Reinforced Damper Stay (low mount type) x2 49093 - Aluminium Servo Stay (purple) 53275 - TA03 Aluminium Motor Heat Sink 53288 - TA03 Aluminium Rear Uprights 53316 - TA03 Aluminium Hub Carriers 53293 - Reinforced Slicks Type A x2 53571 - TRF Flourine Coated Dampers (1 has a slight mark on the top cap) 53291 - TA03 15T Aluminium Pulley x2 TA03 Pro 0.4 Module Gear set I have used alot of 3 Racing Purple Hardware on the build too. New built Tamiya Porsche 911 GT1 bodyset, with wheels and inserts I am sure I have missed out a few items, also comes fitted with full bearings, Almost complete spare decal set for the 911 GT1, Full spare plastic parts for the 911 GT1, original kit box, scanned manual (sorry I don't have the original manual) and a few other spare parts that I have for the chassis. Also included are most of the Hop Up labels/packaging that I have kept over the years of collecting the parts to build this. Any questions at all, please feel free to ask. Also any other pictures wanted, again please ask. I would like to see it go to a good home and not someone who is going to sell it on preferably. UK buyer preferred, but may post overseas at cost (the box will be quite heavy) and double boxed packaging Looking for £160 (includes UK postage). Many thanks James

  17. Here's a little treat. Decided to tackle the 1977 Tour de France rallye, Eminence livery, Almeras-Fres Porsche 934 turbo. As an Art Director, I spend most of my day designing magazine and catalogues. At night, totally enjoy designing one-off Tamiya Porsche 911 sticker sets with as much realism I can. The Tamiya Porsche 934 turbo GT-01 is a great little base, the body is so detailed. With limited mods though, you have to think out of the box. Inspired by another TC'er I've bought some of the Kawada rims and some Tamiya upgrades. The photo that inspired my crazy path for this build. Based on other TC users speediness, I seem to be on the snail schedule for completing projects. Happy to report, this project has already passed up my 959 project! Research mode on, more photos...
  18. I've recently acquired a TA03R-S in an auction, but really just wanted the body shell. Now you can have the rest. The tires are shot from sitting (splits). Price is negotiable, but please no less than $50USD. Here's a pic: and the bottom:
  19. Having a clear out of a few items I will more than likely never use again. So all in order, A well used Porsche 911 GT1 Body. Some yellowing and lifting of decals and a few bad front end splits that have been temp repaired. Ideal as a runner body. Secondly, is a used Technigold motor in original box. No insert etc, just the motor and box. Motor runs fine as I have tested it in my Madcap, a genuine increase in speed over the stock 540. Next is a set of 4 Porsche 911 GT1 Wheels fitted with inserts and Tamiya semi slick racing tyres. Wheels have been kerbed at the edges as you would say but have had their lip painted Tamiya Chrome Silver as per the box art. And lastly is a TA03R-S/F-S chassis tub along with low mount type front damper stay and short drive belt (not pictured) Ideal to convert a stock TA03R or F into the short wheelbase version, suited to the Porsche 911 GT1 and GT2 bodies. Prices are at the top of each picture and include uk postage. Overseas postage available on request and at cost. ALL SOLD !!!! James
  20. Hey guys, I'm looking for a very good condition (can be used, just not cracked or scratched badly) set of silver plastic gearboxes from a TA02SW Taisan Porsche. I already have black, red and soon blue gearbox parts but I still need the silver ones and I would like to use them on my TA02 M-chassis conversion I bought from Japan recently. If you have a set, please let me know
  21. As above, after a NIB body set or a very good condition used example Porsche 911 GT1 (TA03RS based) Body. Paypal money waiting. Thanks James
  22. Hey guys, It's been almost 10 years since I last posted here at TC. I still have my Midnight Pumpkin and she's still running strong after many years, but something happened this past weekend that was just pure, dumb luck. Walking into the Hobby Shop, I needed a new battery for the Pumpkin and some foam-safe CA for my Parkzone Mosquito. In the corner of the shop was a cardboard box with a post-it note taped to it that said "Free donation to whoever wants it". I peeked inside. Inside in pieces was a 1/12 Tamiya Martini Porsche 935 Turbo. I asked the guy at the counter "Are you serious? Nobody's wanted this thing?". He says "Well, a lady dropped it off and we have one guy who said he'd pick it up next week if no one claimed it". I jumped on it like stink on you-know-what I gasped...I couldn't believe what I was looking at. The body was in shambles, but it had a Futaba two-stick radio from 1979 as confirmed by the serial number, all servos, but no battery. I took it home and began to tear apart the body and repair it. The right A-pillar was completely destroyed, there was no glass. Nose, body, tail, doors were all broken, but it was all fixable. I plopped in eight AA batteries into the transmitter and it fired right up. Put four batteries in the BEC at the rear of the car. Turned the radio on (it powered right up) and hit the off/on switch at the rear of the car. IT'S ALIVE!!!!! Steering servo and speed controller servo both work properly! There's no power to the motor yet, since I'll have to have CheapBatteryPacks.com build me a custom pack with a male connector. The entire body has been put back together and epoxied at the seams. Right A-pillar has been rebuilt with styrene sheet, rod and strip (I'm a scale model builder so this was easy). May have to scratch build a passenger mirror and windshield wiper. The front fog light cover on the right side is cracked, no biggie, but I'll coat them in Future floorwax to really bring them back to life. In all honesty, I can't believe the front tow hook has actually survived after 30+ years. The wheels have been painted, body primed. Puttied the A-pillar and got it looking fantastic. Honestly, you can't tell it was every broken. Front wheels done in chrome with gold mesh. Doing some final sanding tonight, then shooting the first coat of color. Spent three hours last night sanding and polishing the aluminum chassis. Turned out gorgeous Also zip-tied all the wires together neatly and tucked away. Repaired the antenna wire and heat-shrank the splice. Gotta source some new decals or make my own. Also, finding glass will be impossible some I'm going to go the polycarbonate/thermoforming route. My custom battery is en route from CheapBatteryPacks.com, so she should be moving under her own power by this weekend. Super excited to get this 34-year old vintage pan car back to life and on the road! Some photos from what she looked like when I bought her home to last night. Thanks for looking guys and any advice is greatly appreciated! - Blake Sorry for the crummy iphone photos
