  1. I purchased a TD2 during Tamiya USA's black Friday sale. I've pretty much finished the assembly aside from the electrics and painting the body. I enjoyed the build process and I think the TD2 kinda feels like a Kyosho RB5 from 2007. Of course, this would be after adding a slipper clutch, aluminum shocks and CVDs. Obviously, it doesn't look like an RB5 with the laydown front shocks, mid-motor and integrated chassis/transmission but to me, it feels like one. Anyways, I think the chassis is absolutely beautiful but the body, not so much. After taking some measurements, I plan to find something that fits and looks much more like a buggy. The TD2 is rather wide in the middle which means I may have to look for older bodies as most new buggies are very narrow. The version I built has the slipper clutch, TT02B/DT03 dampers, titanium turnbuckles, carbon fiber shock tower and the updated diff screw with aluminum diff nut. For those of you using the TT02B/DT03 dampers, I built the rear shocks to roughly the same length as the stock CVAs. This meant using 2 black o-rings inside the shock body. The fronts were built with only one black o-ring. They need to be slightly longer since the instructions require moving the mounting balls to the other set of holes on the chassis. I used the three hole pistons and stock red springs all around with the included hard oil. We'll see if that needs to be adjusted later. Also, for some reason, I had a heck of a time trying to bolt the front wheels on without having the cross pin fall out of the axle. It was super annoying. Has anyone tried the 54996 m-chassis axles on their build? Maybe these would work better? I will post some pics later. I may include an RB5 and an RC10B7 for comparison. It's cold and damp outside. Not the usual sunny So Cal day.
  2. Hello, I recently bought a TD2 but, the hitec hs-77bb low profile servo bought to use in it still appears to be a little too big to fit. What recommendations do you have for a low profile servo that will work in the TD2? I am currently looking at using the TSU-06 but would love some more suggestions. If possible I would also like to keep the price under $70. thank you! -Bethor
  3. Figured we need a place to collect mods, fixes, shims etc for the TD chassis cars. I'll post bits from my build thread as i go along, but lets build a library of ideas!
  4. It’s never too early to start a build thread right? Since the first pics were released it’s been obvious that the TD4 was going to be typically over engineered but also is gonna provide a lot of room for modifying and tweaking, we’re gonna see a lot of different takes on this buggy over the next few months. The recent blitz of videos from the production samples have answered a lot of the questions we had regards battery placement, shocks, motor cooling etc…..so now seems like a good time to start planning the build and making a few basic decisions.
  5. Last evening when I was browsing through the online stores of my favorite Tamiya dealers, I asked myself why Tamiya has no better offering in modern day offroad buggys than the DF03 (I don't count the TT02BR as its basically a lower tier chassis). Hours later I realized that I had completely forgot about the TD4 and TD2. It seems like they failed miserably. I have seen the TD4 kit at 160 Euros in my country. I do understand that Tamiya is no more in the competitive offroad racing scene. I guess they want us to buy the nice Avante, Egress and Top Force kits and enjoy them. What are your thoughts on the current offroad lineup? Especially interestedin hearing about the TT02BR, the DF03. To me the just released Top Force at 170 Euros is currently the best Tamiya pick at price/performance.
