  1. The body is a vintage NIB - ABC hobby 257mm wheelbase Lancia Stratos. Overall Its very good, best Stratos I’ve seen in this scale. The best there is I feel is the one from HPI for the M chassis. The chassis placeholder during building is a TRF419. For real world use it will likely be my TRF417X WRC build or perhaps a XV02 series chassis. TRF417X Build Thread I love the more popular Alitalia livery but I am going for the 1978 Pirelli livery which will be more unique in my opinion. As a bonus I feel this livery could hide some of the body height and inaccuracies. Generally I find darker & correct scale metallic Tamiya colours can help make rc cars look more realistic as Lexan is never 100% correct. Start date 2022/03 Tamiya TRF419 - 42285 Ambitions - Magnetic body mounts Functioning windscreen wiper Functioning aux / fog lights on separate channels ch3, ch4 DIY Flocked dash DIY Interior cage Openable clamshells? Prototype Correct offset wheels? Let the fun begin!
  2. WRC / RALLY Builds thread A dedicated thread for all things rally / hillclimb - Motorsport inspired builds that are not on a permanent track. I’ll start off with the environment context that made me want to start. Project Start: 2021/01 Tamiya TRF417X - 42205 Ambitions - Full LED lighting & make a rally chassis! Welcome to Sweden!
  3. Project Start: 2023 Chassis - TRF419 / XV02 Body - L&L Models / TeamC Bmw e30 Electrics - LRP / SpeedPassion Paint - TBD Tamiya PS Ambitions - DIY livery / Decals - Functioning driving lights with brake. - Replicate RWD by running only rear belt / rear Diff / rear drive cups - Rear e brake? - Cockpit with cage, full spare wheel/tire textile harnesses As the title and name suggests a JTCC / Macau / Hill climb inspired Bmw M3 e30 build. I love doing less common liveries or bodysets so I’m thinking of doing the SOK livery from the JTCC racing series, alternatively a Motul / Rothmans rally livery. I have had the bodyset since 2020, it comes with a nicely 3D printed front grill, M3 Evo rear wing and wing mirrors. A thread start and a few reference images as inspiration to ignite the fire and create some ownership to the project. Option 1 Option 2
  4. Since i returned do hobby i've started acquiring some bits and chassis to rebuild. So first in line is TRF201 build from bits Some parts are in post and some are waiting to be acquired later this month, but i couldn't resist assembling what i had on hand allready And those parts were most difficult to track down and this is state of chassis for now Still waiting on chassis tub, it supposed to be here today but clearly something must have stalled it :/
  5. Hi everyone, I recently came across a NIB of the rere of the amazing JPS Lotus 79 (kit 84122). As a tribute to the ultimate performance ethos of F1, I would like to build this body over an all-carbon/aluminum car. I found the amazing F104 V2 Pro kit online (58534) that seems like the ideal base for what I want to achieve but also realized that the V2 is a regular width car whereas the JPS is a Wide version of the 104. I have studied the build instructions for both to understand if I could use the wider F103 front suspension - that the F104W apparently is based on - on the F104 V2 chassis but couldn’t come to a conclusive answer. Does anyone have any experience with a similar project and from the V2 Pro carbon chassis? I like to drive my cars but this one will be a shelf queen. Having said that I would like the geometry to be correct and not just butcher it together. All advice is highly appreciated Anders
  6. Well… I must have gotten a bit of the TRF fever while building the FF-03evo in the past weeks. It got worse when @Juhunio and @lukej started their TRF415 build threads. And now here we are with another thread… What does this thread offer to the reader then? For the start, my 415 version will fit right in between Juhunios MS and Lukes MSXX MRE. So the reader can follow the late versions history of the 415 in close and all detail. Tamiya was a real race car manufacturer back then, updating their 415 platform every year, offering new parts regularly to keep the edge in the competition. And it shows. Juhunio had a hard time identifying his version and I would have the same problem just looking at the parts the chassis came with: I got a box that says 415MS upgrade set, I got upper bulkheads with different height, a front-one-way, a strange topdeck, hacked rear bulkheads (for the use of LiPo batteries I guess) and other strange parts like the rear suspension arms, that look like Evo3. And then there is the chassis. Undoubtedly an MRE, because you couldn’t buy an upgrade set and it got everything the MRE came with. So I guess the previous owner just added all TRF415 leftover parts he had. My build/restoration won’t get as beautiful as Juhunios or Lukes, but I still ordered some nice parts to give it back its bling. Next on comes the disassembly and cleaning… it is pretty dirty…
  7. *apologies to NJ’s second favourite son JBJ for the title* But man was I Livin’ on a Prayer hoping to find anything in stock in these difficult times, seems like any Tamiya kit is Wanted Dead or Alive. But when hope was lost I Kept the Faith and Fusion restarted their webshop coming though with the Aqroshot like a Blaze of Glory. Selling the Top Force was Bad Medicine but getting this basher is sweeter than a Bed Of Roses. I Regret Nothing.
  8. This thread will document my TRF201XR new build. Other than in the US, the TRF201XR was never sold as a complete kit, but as a conversion for standard 201s and DN01s instead.TamiyaUSA did do their own bundle with a 201, the XR conversion kit, and a set of Big Bores in a single box though it was never an "Official" kit in the strictest sense. For those that don't know, the XR is a chassis conversion for a standard 201 that changes out the tub chassis for an aluminium plate, and increases the wheelbase of the car. It was designed to work with the follow-on XM conversion kit as well, but it's worth noting that the 201 converted to an XR and then an XM is quite a bit different to a TRF201XMW that was released a short time later. I don't have a donor 201 I'm willing to part with, so this build will be done entirely from NIP spares and hop-up parts + a new box XR conversion kit. This build will be raced and won't be spending its life on a shelf - well not until I run out of spares anyway! So we begin... Starting with an XR conversion kit in box, and a large box full of 201 parts: The conversion kit includes the chassis plate, side guards, and all the hardware to attach it to the front and rear of a 201. A body that will fit the XR, XM, XMW and the 211XM is also included. Other essentials for the build (or pretty much any build!): Instructions are pretty thin, and not quite up to the usual standard you'd expect from Tamiya - though as this is very racer orientated conversion I'm sure they're quite sufficient. The numbers on the steps correspond to the equivalent step from a standard 201 manual: Main chassis plate: Surprisingly the side pods/guards appear to be machined from what I assume is Delrin, they feel very strong and rigid: More to follow!
  9. here is my review on my TRF DT03 on The RC Racer web site http://www.thercracer.com/2014/05/tamiya-dt03-trf-race-tips-and-review.html a few of you have seen my car run and heard about my trials and tribulations with car. Have a read and I hope it helps with your DT03.
  10. Tamiya ***ULTIMATE TRF TOOL BUNDLE*** All Included. All BRAND NEW & UNOPENED Also available - Tamiya TRF419XR - 42316 **ULTIMATE BUNDLE** See my other listings for this, plus a load of brand new, unused and very high end equipment up for sale. Why I’m selling: Returning to a 90 hour a week job has left me with no time, so I’m selling an extensive and, in some cases, extremely rare, collection of tools that took a year to source. Some had to be shipped to other countries prior to the UK to enable purchase. As such, what you see took hours of obsessive work to collect. Although anyone can buy and use, the collection is primarily for a Tamiya collector or someone looking for a complete collection. Knowing how hard it was to gather this collection reassures me that any value lies in keeping it complete. As such, to split the bundle will damage it’s value, for me and anyone buying it, so I’m sorry to say, I will not be willing to do so. Anyway, here’s what’s included: Tamiya: 42149 - 7mm Box Wrench 42148 - 5.5mm Box Wrench 42147 - 2.5mm Hex Wrench Screwdriver 42146 - 2mm Hex Wrench Screwdriver 42145 - 1.5mm Hex Wrench Screwdriver 42150 - Ballpoint Hex Wrench Screwdriver 42161 - (-) M Screwdriver 53649 - (+) L Screwdriver 53648 - (+) M screwdriver 42186 - Wrench for 5mm Reinforced Adjusters 42260 - Body Reamer 42276 - Damper Pliers 42122 - Wrench for Blue Titanium Turnbuckle Shaft 42236 - Wrench for Aluminium Turnbuckles 54635 - Aluminium Canberra Gauge Post 42255 - Droop Gauge 42256 - Droop Gauge Block 42199 - Ground Clearance Gauge 53862 - Touring Car Height & Droop Gauge 53861 - Camber Gauge 42241 - Pinion Gear Holder (12) 42371 - R/C car Maintenance Stand (Tamiya Blue) 42335 - Aluminium TRF Tool Stand (got to have somewhere to put this lot) 42292 - Aluminium Parts Tray 42302 - TRF parts Storage Box x3 (8 compartments per case)

  12. I have been on a journey to recreate a Ta03R TRF. I've gathered up most of the parts, but am still looking for a couple At this point, I'm still trying to find some of the pieces. if anyone has some spares, I am more then happy to buy them and put them into a new home At this point, I'm looking for the hubs, 1 set of universals, the steering arms, 6 m3x18mm turnbuckles, knuckles, the aramid belt.... and a tensioner pulley lol. I'll be putting up pics in a bit,
  13. All BRAND NEW & UNOPENED. Why I’m selling: Returning to a 90 hour a week job has left me with no time, so I’m selling my TRF419XR as well an extensive and, in some cases, extremely rare, collection of upgrades that took months to source. What you see includes some almost unavailable and therefore very rare items that took hours of obsessive work to collect. Knowing how hard it was to gather this collection means it’s for someone who wants all options available for the amazing TRF419XR, so I’m sorry to say, I will not be willing to split it. I wish to return around 80% of what it all cost me, so any purchaser is not only benefiting a reduction in retail price, but also from the reduced purchase hose prices from buying abroad, which I had to do to finish this collection but from the hours and hours it took to gather everything. Moving on: The main upgrade included in the bundle is the TRF420 Suspension upgrade. To prove how extensive the bundle is, it also comes with the rear Toe Control Rear Suspension Set for the TRF420. Also included is the correct 3mm TRF drill bit to ream out the arms, and I even managed to find the unique carbon fibre alternative arm connectors that are only available with the actual TRF420 kit! That wasn’t easy. Before we get to the collection: I’m also selling a complete (and I mean complete) TRF Tool Set to go with it, as well as some top line professional equipment, please see my other listings for full details. However, to wet your appetite, here’s a few of them so you get the idea as to the level of what else is for sale: **THE FOLLOWING ITEMS ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THIS BUNDLE BUT AVAILABLE SEPARATELY. 21. Hi all, I'm looking for damper suggestions for my DT-03 Racing Fighter build. The Racing Fighter kit I have came with the CVA dampers and I also have the Tamiya Spring Set Hop-Up option #53832. However, I'd like to upgrade the plastic CVAs with alloy dampers instead. I tend to prefer using genuine Tamiya hop-up options (or TRF if budget allows) however I haven't found any direct replacements for the CVAs that came with this kit. As such, I've been looking at either going with a set of GPM dampers or a set from Yeah Racing. But before I pull the trigger on either of those, I wanted to ask here if anyone here has any suggestions for dampers. Thanks in advance for any help. Cheers!
  22. Hi, I am looking for some advice on the best Tamiya chassis to look to obtain for racing on tarmac. I have been around RC for a while, however only been running brushed(sport tuned) and Nimh. Have a Stadium Thunder and a Blitzer Beetle both modded. So there is an RC club near my house I found the other day, track is open for the public.I have not had a chance yet to go on a race night to see what the members are running there, they have a 21.5T,13.5T & Euro truck classes. I am looking for some advice on a chassis to firstly get me into tarmac track as I have been only dirt bashing and crawling & secondly, what hop-ups, motors, esc`s, batteries should I be looking for to be competitive, apologies for all the newb questions. Have attached a pic of the track I would be racing\learning at, look forward to your input.
  23. Hi all, Back in the day I remember Tamiya always having a flagship 4x4 buggy. Over the years which has been the top Tamiya 4x4?
