futureworks 864 Posted November 6, 2021 So a bit of a question here - recently acquired a NIB 44042 TG10 Mk2 chassis kit. It doesn’t come with an engine and the recommended parts are the FR-12R engine (41069), coupled with the TM-9 manifold and muffler set. The engine ports from the rear, and hence I wondered if the FR-15S which I already have and which also ports from the rear would take the TM-9. Having received the latter today in the post, that’s confirmed, they will couple together no problem. However, the crankshaft on my FR-15S, like most tamiya engines in my experience, is designed to take a pilot shaft to complete the flywheel, clutch and gear assembly. BUT I realised that the FR-12R is quite a different design and has a very different means of installing clutch, flywheel and gears, as shown in the extract from the TG10 Mk2 build manual. So the question is....is there a way to use the engine I have with this chassis kit?
