Astute - Put the wreck to the rack. A shelf restauration.

Recommended Posts

That's a shame mate. I have heard that all replica bodies are a tiny bit smaller than the originals, due to how they create the moulds from the original shells I believe. If that is the case, then no surprise that the Penguin body is a tight fit over the og undertray.

I don't know of anywhere that has the og Super Astute body shell in stock as the moment. A few months ago there were a few about, so hopefully will be again soon👍

Yes, its not that long ago the SA had a rerelease but all bodys gone. Undertray and wing is easy to find.

Anyhow, moving the body further to the rear does make alignement much better. Just a question if I should wait for a proper rere or just cut and drill the second repro body I got.

Just to say Penguin told me I get one free with my next order.

If it's for the shelf, I'd wait for the proper body. If it's a runner then I'd extend the hole in the front of the body you've already fitted, to allow it to move further back and paint it and run it🙂🏎️🏎️🏎️

So true. Will wait for a nice rere body. Just a pitty cause I wanted to finalize this one project so much...

The OG Astute body is all the way up to the rear shock tower and the repro body looks to have quite a gap there too...

I use TBG bodies on my runners and they fit OK and should marry nicely with the Tamiya under tray.

I have a feeling all you have to do is replace the outer bearing for a thinner one (3mm rather than 4)

Diggig aut this one. Was lately looking for 5x11x3 bearings and the one I found where quiet expensive. 2RS sealed pcs costs around 6€. Quiet expensive for a bearing this size.

Btw forgot to report, Penguin UK did little tweaks to his astute body mould on my asking and now they are really nice and straight down at the rear end. So great when people react on their customers feedback.
