Here of late I am seeing something more and more that I truely find disturbing.

I am seeing more and more eBay listings in both the for sale/wanted/trade forum AND in the traderooms. First, I thought eBay pointers for one's own auctions were supposed to go in the eBay forum. Second, all of these listings I have seen say 'for sale' not 'for auction' Afterall, if I wanted to surf eBay I would be looking there, NOT on TC. I particurally find the eBay postings in the Traderoom most disturbing as well as a collosal waste of my time which is more and more limited these days.

Could Chris or one of the other admins please clarify the rules regarding this?

Thanks for reading,

The rules are simple at the moment. The traderooms are you area for trading whatever RC related items you want, this can be buying/selling/trading or promoting your auctions. The same is true for the 'for sales/trades/wanted' forum. The ebay forum was really intended as an area to discuss ebay, not really promote ebay items. Having said that I see that I do actually say 'plug your auctions' in the description of this thread to - which has probably added to the confusion.

I'll talk to the other mods on this one and get back to you all.

On the clud trade room section I am going to be introducing some new features shortly that will make things clearer and also 'highlight' items which come with fixed prices (buying or selling) Promoting auctions will still be allowed, but there is a plan in place to allow members to choose which items they see be default (ie if you don't want to see auctions or 'make me an offer' type items you can turn them off in your preferences. [That said I can't image many people will, as who is going to risk missing out on that one 'great' deal just because they didn't want to look through a few more posts?] But still the option will be there for those that want to use it.

Thank you for addressing this Chris. I will be sure to take advantage of the option to screen out auction and 'make an offer' adverts.

The real issue on the traderoom is about keeping trades up to date... I prefer to see n item which is availbable through ebay rather than not available at all.

They are items which I know to be unavailable anymore for long that are still in the traderoom. Of all these outdated klistings the most confusing ones are definitively the ones for ebay auctions that ended several weeks ago :)

My major concern is that potential buyer do not take into consideration old listings as most of these are out of date. I've recently received a mail asking for a part that had been for long in the traderoom and the first question was whether it was actually available. I am thinking about adding a few comments in my traderooms specifying that all my items are actually available.

I can agree with you mostly there Raemin. I would love to see traderoom items expire after a set time. That would be acceptable to me in regards to ebay and stale post or sloppy housekeeping.
