Need help, What Color to paint Tamiya GT2 body?

Hello guys, im about to start my Tamiya 993 GT2 project, and since its been like over 20 years that ive painted rc bodies .. So i have some questions..

 

I was thinking about painting the body Tamiya Green Metallic ( PS17 ),  but im kinda afraid it will be a bit to flashy, bright, too much discofever for the 933... (???????)

Will it help if i back this color with black?? to kinda darken it down a bit?

 

I also really like the Cobalt Green ( PS53 ) but ive seen a lot of GT2s done in this color .. ( i know why  )  and maybe like the PS30 Brilliant Blue 

 

Ive added 3 examples...  the green metallic one is a very bad example ( whoever did this did a nice job of ruining the best 1/10 scale RC body ever! )

 

So i need your help on this one guys... any tips , pointers are welcome..

 

BTW , im going for the realistic tracktool/clubsport look, car wont be driven but gets a place on a simple Pandora display chassis

Hi, ps16 is a great color. Think subaru wrc. Personally I prefer a flatter color for a 993, e. G. Yellow, or, how about British racing green (like gorgeously made by kuhfarben)... BTW, I do back my colors but I have the feeling it makes nearly no difference color wise. The only thing is that if you don't back it and spray the shell white for example, it looks stupid because the light shines through. So always some silver or so behind that. On my ps54 gt2 shell shown above I did ps54, backed with silver and then backed with ps54 again because you will see the interior and its going to resemble a race car with bare painted metal. BTW, I didn't use ps54 because of vaillant. Just because I like that color very much.. Cheers

Thx, its exactly what i was thinking, 993 need a "flatter" more era kinda color then the too flashy green metallic.

 

Nr one on the list is PS54, but ive see quite some Cobalt Green ones, but as i only have one GT2 body and theyre kinda hard to find i cant experiment around...   

Ill sleep on this matter, any more tips are welcome... for now the green metallic is of the charts..

Yes i think youre right... the green is just to flashy metallic....    P54 it is!

Sadly Tamiya just have Mica blue in TS-50(for me), so Tamiya does not have PS-Mica Blue that Subaru use on WRC.

PS17 is a bit much, recently did a body in that color.  Was going for flashy and I got it (monster truck), but would not look good on the Porsche.  

PS54 is a cool color and would look great, but look into PS9 as well.  Recently did a truck in PS9 and am in love with it.  Such a nice but simple color.  That body would look amazing in PS9 with gold wheels.
