I fired mine up a few years back, and as it was stood a good while, it rotted the fuel pump, strainer etc. Although I'd got braided teflon fuel lines, so they where fine. So many issues with ethanol and classic car fuel systems. The best idea I came up with was deleting the in tank fuel pumps and going a little older with boot mounted fuel pumps. That allows myself to fully drain the fuel system if the car goes into prolonged storage. The SU carbs are very simple devices so not difficult to repair. Had its first start up this week after the rebuild. Amazingly good for a first start up on carbs. Next stage is finalise all mechanicals. Gearbox needs a running flush, then the concoction of oil and additives, fill the diff as well before the running gearbox flush. I’ll be doing the interior soon so probably ready autumn but then it’s tracking time. Lots of shims involved if things need adjustment 🙄. So plenty of work yet

Aye, can't remember if I'd said, I fitted all Viton seals now, and the fuel line is braided stainless teflon, not the cheapest, but 🤷♂️ On 4/4/2024 at 8:57 PM, Toolmaker72 said: The SU carbs are very simple devices so not difficult to repair. Been a while since I touched an SU! Remember having to set them up with vacuum gauges, on the Mini I once had though. It's a completely rebuilt engine so I'll run that first. I do keep my eye out for 4.6 , they are a bit prone to liner lift . Would need a top hat job.

Have you seen the guy down in Yorkshire (and fellow RCer) building his mk1 with a turbo'd Rover? (Think the story was, it was tubbed and tubed many moons ago) (Random, but...) Mates Rover that used to be in (now running a turbo'd SBC in Street Eliminator in the 9's) , his Mk2 Cortina Estate, heads, cam , converted to multi point injection and coil packs (homemade pick up, where the dizzy should be) , tuned through 8x EGT's and 2 x O2 sensors, with a 2 stage nitrous set up. Got it down into the 11's at the Pod! Honestly, i could look at this for hours, as there was always something new he was testing.. 🙄🤣 Sounded awesome too, with launch control, flat shifting and whine when the 2nd stage came in.

It's not a rotisserie just a dolly, it's great though especially when it's bolted down. I do have a rotisserie but not using it yet as the chassis section at the front needs some repair.
