I’ve only been doing vehicle upholstery for nearly a year.  Any future projects just let me know 😉

Dang, did you take a special pill or something for that?   ;) That is incredible talent to be able to sew like that in under a year.  I thought you bought the cover pre-custom made or something.

Special pill 😊 I like that 👍

I was made redundant the end of 2020, 31 years as a Ford toolmaker and March 2021 I put myself on an intensive retraining course to be able to make new vehicle upholstery for classic and modern vehicles.  A few pictures attached of bits I completed last year

That's some training course!,

Although, I could do many courses, and still not produce something that nice, you've a gift.

I best get thinking about interior panels....🤔

Speaking of courses, I took a PDR (Paintless Dent Removal) course back in 2006 or 2007? while I was having a mild mid-life crisis..  thinking I should pursue a career more hands on that interests me vs working a white collar job all my adult life at the office and traveling abroad (which I hate).

I finished the course successfully, I can fix most dings/dents (well, aluminum is a different story).  Instructor even offered a job at one of their remote locations they were planning to get up and running.  I fixed literally thousands of dings on my spare time.. fixed my cars, neighbors cars, my buddies cars, buddies' buddies cars, etc.   I made a measurable chunk of change to buy more tools and more car parts.  :D

But at the end, I decided that if going for just earnings and considering longevity of my aching body, my job at the office was more for me.  But at least I tried something different and had a great time learning the craft.. and learning my limits.

I still fix my own cars on my free time when I get door dings or get hit by a golf ball or apple falling from a tree while driving (I've had this happen twice), hail, etc. etc.   One time while visiting my pops overseas, I fixed a mild ding on his Lexus using a long handle flat head screw driver he had and a stripe of e-tape on a book cover to use as my reflector guide.      He was impressed his dumb dud of a son could do such a thing.

In other news, I dusted my GRSupra and Golf-R this morning since I don't cover them while in hibernation.. I like looking at and sitting in my cars.   My STI is covered as she is in the path of the high powered exhaust fan in my garage.  When I paint my RC bodies in my mudroom (ghetto portable paint booth), some paint dust falls on the STI.   I lightly vac the car cover and dust it before removing it from the car in the Spring.   I am also expecting the rest of the motor oil I bought earlier this week to arrive today.

Edit:  Yummmy..  well, not really for me to ingest.. B)

It was stressful at the time but like most things, practice makes perfect.

I'm a follower (stalker?) of this thread and will hopefully be able to add something soonish. For the last 10 years (10th wedding anniversary...) my cars have been oh so sensible so no toys for me, except the race car. I own it with a friend as we run it in endurance races (so need 3 - 5 drivers) but its due a respray because it just looks rough. Given the service shes given us over the last few years its about time we did something to make her look pretty! So I'll hopefully have some pics soon. Or we'll just put the cover on after next weekend and then think about a respray 3 weeks out from the next race...

Anyway, i'm wildly impressed with the projects on here, and just a bit (read:much more than a bit) jealous of Willy Ine's cars! Mostly the STi...

Wow, endurance race car.  That sounds fantastic.   :D

As for the STI,  thanks but I only own normal folk cars so nothing special.    I just happen to like AWD turbo-4 bangers.  They are perfect power for street.. fast but not too fast where I can enjoy wringing out the engine, and plenty of traction for safe spirited driving on the weekends.

@Lee1075 Beautiful car!  I always wanted the RS, but the ones in the USA were all wimpy at the time so never got one.  Mine is a VA platform (2016) STI bought 6-7 years ago..   I've enjoyed this car since the initial test drive.  She's running a Cobb AP Stage1+ set up with the latest IAT bias calibrated map.. There is basically no heat soak fatigued feeling even on a 80F+ hot day.

(Hood aka bonnet is unlatched as she's hooked up to a battery manager..)

Thank you @Willy iine Ah yes the RS, remember reading lots of threads years ago on the RS25 forums. Mostly about drive train swaps. Lovely looking garage and cars you have there. I had a full engine rebuild done using internals from newer age  STi´s, like the cross drilled and nitrated crankshaft. All parts were ordered in Japan and fitted by a Subaru dealer here in Germany (he maintains all of Subaru Germanys rally cars) VF35 turbo, 550 injectors, Harvey & Smith open DP and s/s exhaust system. Then mapped by Bob Rawle. My P1 was the first ever imported into Germany, had a FSSH from day 1 (every 6 mths at a dealership without fail) 2 owners, low mileage, never driven in winter or rain and a full history thread over on the owners club. Should never have sold her :(.

Cool.  The S54 engine won best engine award for 6 years in a row in the 3-4 litre class.

All SC components ceramic coated by Zircotec including manifold, full Super Sprint race system (including manifold) with Milltek rear box, ESS SC kit, CSL quick steering rack, KW v3 suspension, AP brakes all round, Rays RE30 wheels, stack gauges and a few other things.

Body work done by BMW, lot of Varis cf, about 16k, front and rear wheel arches vented like race car.

I want to get upgrade kit for SC, run Aquamist system and go Syvec standalone.

what a beaut

my mate had a m3 until the vanos system went on it (he is a mechanic) but has you know bmw tend to only have the tools to fix this you can by the tool but it is a stupid amount of money and he would not send it to bmw due to cost so ended up getting a bmw specialist to fix it and still had a bill of over a grand then not long after that he sold it

Many years ago I started to build a peugeot 106 with wide arches and a v6 engine. It didn't get finished but it ended up as this. I started to make it a new chassis, but moved house into one with no garage, so the project ended. One day it might get built again.
