Christmas and Christmas holiday projects

Recommended Posts

Unless full lockdown kicks in I’ll be away but I’ll take a kit to build, don’t want to do any painting away so the Blockheads Wild One could be ideal, if it arrives in time. Tamico saying 10th December & we travel on the 20th - fingers crossed! Back up is the Comical Avante.

One is an MST TCR-M chassis, which I have been dying to try out ever since I saw it. Ordered it a month ago, it's finally (almost!) here.

It will wear a Tamiya VW Golf Mk1 body that I have had sitting around for ages and still haven't chosen a paint job for.

Very cool! I just finished one, it's a very nice little kit.

No Blockheads Wild One for me in 2021! Tamico now saying January for delivery.

One or both of two projects, both of which are on their way now, both due to arrive Friday.

It looks like a bunch of scaffolding poles with wheels stuck on! Just joking, I am actually considering this for my next buy. Hope you will do a build thread on it.

I have a NIB Neo Fighter (ridiculously low Amazon UK bargain price atm) on the shelf and my wife is getting me my first 4WD in the form of a Neo Scorcher for Xmas. I am wanting to build at least one of those over the Xmas period. I'd really like to just have a fresh, straight forward NIB build with the Neo Scorcher, but part of me says leave that stuff alone and get working on the mass of Madcap parts I have accumulated to build a shelfer. That way I can then also recoup some money selling the bits I don't use/need. Maybe I can do both!?

There's a tug of war going on there between my heart and my head. Tbh I can't say my head ever really gets a look in with this hobby! If it did I wouldn't have spent anywhere near the amount of cash on this stuff that I have in the last 3 months!!!!

Have you a new madcap chassis ?

I’ll either start dismantling and cleaning the Sand Scorcher project or the tatty FF03 that turned up yesterday.

I’ve got some doors to wax, paint to clean up and other smaller jobs around the house to complete 1st but I’m definitely winning now.

I got a great present on the way, but I had to finish first my Bear Hawk. Then move-on a new project.

Its time work on lexan shell, I can't touch another piece of sandpaper...

Not sure when it will happen but I have plenty to keep me busy over the holiday. I have an old FAV and Wild One to rebuild/restore and a new Blockhead Motor Wild One to build. I also have a GF01 which I intend to put a Jimny body on. I also have the two F100 Pro-line shells to do something with. One will be stored I think and with a little work I think the other might just fit on the ClodBuster that I am looking to buy. If not it will be put away fro a while until I work out a better plan (maybe a cc01).

All these plans are being held up though by the lack of PS paint available here!

Gonna finish up some smaller projects first: Adding the Knight Customs parts to my Lancia Delta body for my XV-01 along with finishing the interior, painting the NSX body for my TA-02, converting my rustler to a no-prep car and installing electronics and finishing up my newly built Xpress FT1S. Probably gonna pick up a TC-01 as well, and maybe an M-Chassis to boot.

Santa will be leaving 3 TT-02 cars under our Christmas tree. One for each of my son's, and one for me. A few basic hop-ups too. So I hope we'll be finishing those during the break. Ones an Escort, one AMG Mercedes and One Toyota Supra racing.

Also have a couple of RC boats to build. Club 500 racers.

I’ve got of plenty of projects, I had the 45th anniversary Porsche 934 as my only present request, as my better half hasn’t asked for any more ideas, I’m assuming that’s sorted. My problem is finding the time to do anything. I’m lucky in that I’ve got 2 weeks booked off, but I always find at Christmas somehow my time just gets eaten away by tasks based around the big day !! Fingers crossed I get a few days to myself ??

A bit of an update on this, my wife goes into hospital next Monday for an operation, put those projects on hold, some things are more important.

These are great little boats. The racing series is bonkers fun and really competitive. The also make really good bashers. With Model Slipway in their DNA gives them great pedigree!!

Our local club, in Luton has stated to race them occasionally. Great fun, and relatively cheap and robust.

I've got a lot of unfinished cars, but I should focus on the Marui Galaxy, that just needs light cleaning and reassembly, and the Samurai.

The Samurai needs more work but if I can just get started on that, it would really get that ball rolling....

But also need to finish the stairs renovation to the attic, still not finished after 2 years due to a chronic backorder of motivation...

I think my festive focus (RC related anyway!) is going to contain the letters T and A, and the numbers 0 and 3

I have a NIB 911 GT1 to build with a thorough dusting of festive red in the way of bling bits, while the shell is getting the full 58193 Le Mans GT1 treatment

Then there's a used F-Pro on its way to me, intended as a home for the CLK-DTM shell which didn't end up working out on my TA04RR bits-a-build. It's going to get a strip, clean and rebuild, probably replacing the majority of the plastics so I can use threaded screws and suspension pins instead of self-tappers and screw pins. Any further new bits will depend on how good or bad it is when I take it apart :)

The 500s are also raced at my club, Elmbridge.
