This is a good X-mas deal in Norway so the point is Not to hang out this deal. It is a popular (i think) Tamiya kit Super Clod with 25% off, the asking price is now 3290kr (around 310 GBP). So, i can stil get this Kit cheaper ordering from shops not Located in Norway. Main problem i believe is that Tamiya kit is not popular enough in Norway (or not enough ppl live here) to maintain good prices. There is only 1 local RC Car shop in Oslo i know off and its very smal, but if the prices is not much higher or i just need smal parts i buy from them.

So after 25% is off this is a standard asking UK-price inkl shipment. But if i wanted this kit i would go up there and buy it as i then would only be 20GBP short (as i then ofc dont pay for the shipping)

So what i wanted to say with this: You are very lucky to have Several Huge webshops in UK with Ok prices and good Stock (wheelspin, timetunnel, Fusion and more!). wanted you to think about that, you Lucky *******!

Edit: There is 1 big RC shop in Norway ELFUN but they do not do Tamiya, believe their main thing is plains and drones

This is not unusual, just simple demand and supply. For example, I am into Mini 4WD and Gundam here in the UK and they costs 4 or more times than in the Far East, with limited choices.

@alvinlwh - ofc as i also write. But point stil is that Tamiya RC Car hobby is down on its knees and its close to impossible to find Ok prices.

Its another thing with 1:24 models, Train models etc, good prices and good shops & webshops for that (also very good prices on all paints).

Tamiya 1:10 kits are not for Norway it seems :(

And 25% VAT???

Yes its the same as Vat that is correct, so in this offer they Remove Vat;), but it is not the point off this  x-mas calender offer.

Also from Today X-Mas Calender offer:

This one also land on a standard price in Uk as you can see around 223 GBP

I would still get Super Clod cheaper (a lot cheaper if Vat is not added on the way which happens)

Tamico standard price: 2470 kr+ Vat + shipping = 3 200kr (around 3 100 GBP)

So if i walked up the Norwegian store to avoid shipping, this x-mas deal would set me back 90 kr. But then again i would have to pay for the Subway ;)

As someone who had lived in multiple countries, direct comparison like this is unfair and unrealistic. There are also many other factors to consider. Yes, UK is cheaper than you in Norway, but if I am in Asia, I can buy the same kit for less than £100. In fact, my last trips to HK, I bought so much that the savings alone covered my airfare and hotel. Yet speak to a person in HK and they will still say that this is an expensive hobby.

Elefun is actually really big on RC cars, but they have brands like HPI, Traxxas, Arrma, RedCat, MST, Axial, Element and so on.
SamiRC has a lot of kits in stock and the prices isn't really that bad. The Super Clodbuster that you are mentioning you will hardly get any cheaper from a UK webshop when including shipping and VAT, and don't look at SamiRC's before prices, they are BS.

That exactly what i writing @alvinlwh so i am not sure what your getting at?

I write that the main point is for those that have Tamiya as a Hobby to consider them Lucky as the demand in Norway is super low and their is hardly any stores left with propper Tamiya stock.

If my Hobby was to Bath in fresh Salmon Pieces i could consider myself lucky to live in Norway on the other hand

My point is, me being in UK, could also say that same for people in HK. In fact they are are probably even luckier as they not only have Tamiya to choose from, but 3Racing, etc...

And the same "lucky" persons in HK will probably say that I am lucky in UK as my house is bigger than their little pigeon hole flats.

So perhaps my point is, probably, you win some and you loose some. That's life.

As i wrote, if i bought this X-mas deal and walked up there to pick it up it would set me 90 kr short, compared to buying it on standard price on Tamico (IF Vat is included, some kit orders slipped away).

Yes, but my point (as stated in first post) was that those that lived in U.K today with Building Tamiya kits as their Hobby should consider them Lucky compared to Norway, where i need to order most off my stuff abroad because its to expensive or not in stock, s lot off wating that is ;)

Have you considered getting on a SAS plane to HND and buying there? You will save far more than comparing to UK or DE, with far more choice. I am planning that in 2023/4.

Well, it’s a price one has to pay for living in a nice area, I suppose!  That is expensive.. TamiyaUSA was selling those GF01TR for $169 shipped earlier this year, GF01 are still going at $149 shipped for the red ones.

Exactly! Many in Asia with their extremely cheap models will dream of a model (work) shop like yours.

Well, i stil Believe main problem is that Tamiya is not the big thing at all in Norway at the momemt. As another from Norway pointed out ELFUN the biggest hobby store in Norway do not even sell Tamiya kits. I bought other stuff from them like Traxxas part, tools etc, i believe their prices on Traxxas etc are very good and often free shipping like tou guys are used to.

But you got me on paying for living in a safe place with many benifits as i also live on one off the most exspensive spots in Oslo, i am very thankfull for that, just to point that out. But still i Envy the crap out off you having such good stock on Tsmiya parts and kits so close

Yeah, I live in a well balanced area for my budget and the amount of effort I want to put into my job.  I have been given several opportunities to go up higher in the food chain at work, but at the cost of putting in more hours and effort.  No thanks, I like to spend my time RC-ing.      I already did all the hard working in my youth, I'm just enjoying the return these days.

Maybe ask the Norweigian sovereign wealth fund for a little Christmas present? It's worth over a trillion US dollars, I'm sure they could treat you to a nice Tamiya kit or two.... :D

Spesking off i just had a bigger Sinus Operation with 2 weeks 100% sick leave pay, all medicine/equipment needed covered incl Taxi back to my door, i have not payed 1 GBP for it since i already reached a limit on around 200 GBP on greatly price reduced medicine a year, after that you get a free card for the rest off the year, not sure how this work in UK though,

Hmm maybe i should just buy that Tamiya kit on «Special Norwegian X-mas Holliday Calender price» to show my gratitude to Norway, maybe wife buys that one hmm worth a shot (she is from Sweden though)

I have a few friends in Norway and I come over every couple of years. Everything is more expensive but your wages are so much higher it all works out in the end.

Skiing is the only thing I found to be cheaper than other places but the landscape and the friendliness of the locals make up for the additional cost of everything except the beer…

@Nobbi1977 well, that is not the case with electrical stuff in general (PC, hardware, drones, hi-fi and so on) which is in general the same price as anywhere and often better, so i do i still believe that the main peoblem with Tamiya kits in Norway is demand.

The only clean RC Car hobby shop i know off close in Oslo is also so small i bet it cant find place for 1 batch that Fusion Hobies bought off Super Avante(if they used their entire stock room), They have room for few models and 5 at the time at the most. So when the demand is so low that they can not afford bigger stock than that, the price follow.

what you never do i Norway is go out on town deliver your Visa card in the Bar and eat and drink as you please, that wil set you back real good very fast,

Edit:1 Standard beer (not Guiness or the fancy stuff) will set you back 13 GBP, so a few beers in you already did drink up a Neo Fighter with CVA, Torque tuned and ESC ;)

You need to pay VAT on the shipping cost as well, and count in the customs clearance fee which is 150NOK (below a total value of 3000NOK).
2500NOK+300NOK=2800NOK*1,25=3500NOK+1500NOK=3650NOK. For some reason the shipping cost for the Super Clodbuster kit is almost twice as high as standard shipping cost.

And the discounts at SamiRC is not real discounts because the before prices has never been that high. As an example the new Tamiya Porsche 934 (47477) kit which is not yet in stock now costs 4195NOK, before price is 4695NOK. A few days ago the price was 3690NOK with no discount.. This is actually a violation of the Norwegian Marketing Control Act.

No not correct (-anymore), you do not pay Vat on shipping and the clearance Toll is also gone, so the final price on the Tamico Clod earlier is spot on. Same goes for other webshop ofc, this year you pay No extra Toll Chrage and no vat on shipping.

Last Comical Avsnte Kit from EuroRc i got for 1550kr + shipping from EuroRC i only Payed Vat 380 kr, do the Math if you want. Posten Charge you directly on Their tracking, its very smooth and cheaper noe as they do not charge extra:spacer.png

Edit: Also, the Super Clod Deal on Samirc is a x-mas calender deal, i have tried to make this clear to. So that kit is not usually 25% off, probably 5-7% as Samirc usually set.

Their standard prices on Tamiya are generally much higher than the calendar deals ofc, go check their page, they want over 5000kr+ for Top-Force Evo and so on (always with 5-7% of :) )

You have to pay VAT on the shipping cost, it has always been like that. The only exception was when we had the "200NOK limit" several years ago. Here you can read about it: https://www.toll.no/no/netthandel/utregning-mva/
And here you can see Postens fees for customs clearance: https://www.posten.no/fortolling/motta-fra-utlandet
