Hi,

Is there a tidy way to reinforce around body post holes on lexan/polycarbonate body shells.

My son's has started ripping due to impacts pushing the body up against the pins in crashes.

I've seen a few recommendations for using drywall joining tape and shoe goo.

I wondered if glass fibre self adhesive tape would work, or a thin metal washer and double sided tape.

I use some reinforced tape that you can bought at hardware store. And I put some o-rings on bodypost, if possible.

Tamiya sale some stuff, transparent patch ring.

off-cuts of packaging clear lexan that you get with many household products that goes in the bin . Cut some squares , punch a hole and double sided tape them under the body . Good for using loose on top of the shell too to stop the pins scratching the body shell on lexan and hard bodies

Seems like a case of unsuitable bumpers. Make sure your foam bumpers transfer the crash force into the main chassis, this way the lexan body does not see the blunt of the impact. Normally the kit bumpers don't necessarily match the body (it doesn't have to be exact, just close enough), in which case you can make one with similar foam material.

To repair the shell I've used mesh glued with shoegoo to the tear area. Shoegoo goes both below the mesh (contacting the lexan body) and above the mesh. If this in a body post hole area, patch the whole thing, then make a new hole once dry. Placing a steel washer on the mesh, matching the hole will also help.
