Glad to be back at TC after 20 mins

just thought I'd mention that TC is the first ever forum I've partipated in (appart from a music one I got kicked out of years ago but it was worth it [}].)

I've just signed up to a games site to download some mods, took a peek in the forums and was confronted with total arogance and generally unwelcoming bunch of berks, who were all pretty abusive to each other as well as occasional nice folk.[xx(] any one found others like this?

I use AVSForum for home theater stuff and the homeseer (although it's been about a year since I've been there) forums for home automation stuff. Both are overall friendly communities. I'm surprised at how large the AVSForum is.

You should try the Unreal Tournament forums - a mixture of a few friendly people, loads of flaming and anal retentives who seem to spend more time moaning about niggly little problems in the game than they do actually playing it. I don't visit it that often, but it's sometimes good for a laugh.

Of course, it goes without saying that I'm one of the friendly people, and don't fall into the other categories at all []

I visit a half-life one periodically, and they suffer from a very similar problem to the Unreal one.

You can't ask a newbie question without getting shot down in flames for it, even though the search facility is basic, to say the least.

Even though here, a search for 'wheel' would bring up pages of posts noone seems to mind re-directing anyone to the right place.

Thankfully, the one thing that doesn't appear to happen here is thousands of posts with the word 'bump' just to keep the topic at the top, they're just left to die (dis)gracefully[]

Yes Games forums & Chatrooms especially are not for the feint hearted [8)]

they are usually frequented by foul mouthed pre-teens who think it's cool to me rude and lewd at anyone and everything.

one of the most notorius chatrooms I knew of was the Freeserve GAMES chat room, rampant Flooding and PM Bombing was the order of the day there, anarki ruled until Freeseve changed servers and kicked most of the trouble makers out, I haven't been there in years but I know that after the changes, the unique character that the old Freeserve GAMES room had been was no more []
