Spark when plugging in battery

Recommended Posts

Quick question, is it normal and OK to have a spark when plugging in the battery? Lipo to TBLE-04S with just a silver can, ESC switch is off. Should I be worried?

Don't have one and know nothing of this esc.

Can you use lipo with this?

Specs state Ni-Cd, Ni-MH and Li-Fe.

I'm used to seeing a spark, I haven't paid much attention to it.

Most ESCs are made to withstand at least 60A of burst. Against short sparks like that, maybe up to 320A (as they advertise often).

So I think it's fine.

Yes.

In fact I had been using lipo on all my ESCs, including a decade old 101. After all, the starting voltage of a Lipo is the same as NiMHs at 8.4v anyway.

Thanks, I was just surprised to see it happen on an offed ESC. I know I can expect them on on/live equipment.

Yes, normal.  I get this even on my charger at times.

A little spark is perfectly normal. IIRC it happens because of the capacitors.
