LOL

SubaruBrattJunkie - even in its current 'setup phase' $24 buys you a lot more than a casual visitor, exactly what has been listed several times in several threads so I won't go into again. Take a look through those showrooms with the 'gold star' and you'll see lots of them are from outside the UK, but really where they come from and how they want to trade is out of my control. All I can say is all are welcome. Ebay is no different, any one can join but they don't force you to do business with different countries. Everyone decides what they are comfortable with.

Again in another post I've pointed out that people who join before I've resolved the main issues will be getting a months free membership bonus to make up for the less than perfect site as it stands and to show my appreciation at thier trust and early funds to get the site going

The bottom line is the same for you as anyone else, join if you want to join and find the service useful and if you don't then don't. By all means take as much time as you need to think about it.

Like you said TW, sellers not selling out the uk is probably balanced by US sellers not wanting to sell out of the US and is probably another debate (infact I think there are already lots of threads about this)

RE The comment about some Uk members not shipping to the USA.

I recently had an email from someone in the USA about shipping a car with no electric etc, just a car to the USA. The cost of shipping was the same as the car, I searched for a shipping company for hours for this guy, I feel it is slightly unfair that we get blamed for not wanting to ship outside the UK. It is the cost of shipping outside the UK that stops us.

Perhaps someone could post about "Why Not Ship to the USA" a more suitable area. It can be slogged out there properly - lol

Emails bounce, manual page doesn't work, what exactly does 24 dollars more or less buy you but the ability of other blokes to look at your cars? Seems like a list of services might be in order, because as it stands now, this hobby is expensive enough. In addition to that, quite a few members will not ship anywhere but to the UK. I am questioning whether it is worth the funds to be a charter member of a rather exclusive English good old boy club.[:(!] I will have to think this one over after the bugs are worked out, Bradd

Maybe not my Place, however as a US member I feel a Need. I can understand when switched the sight there will be a few bugs, It's not a big deal as I have confidence the sight will return to normal, (or better shortly.) For me It's not really the trades, or sales, but more the very usefull and plentiful knowledge base, from the users in the forums, to the manuals that contain the parts trees that are invaluable even the user pics that show what the next restore Job from ebay should look like. In My Opinion, the 24us/year is very cheap for everything you get.

As for the "English good old boy" comment, I've spoken too many different people from US, Canada, UK, and Italy. If I'd ship anything to them would depend on weight, only due to cost and i'm sure they would say the same thing. Tim

I've fixed the email, released action pictures and manuals again.

There is still an issue with one of the components I use and the operating system which I continuing to look at. This is what is causing the site 'freeze' from time to time. To 'ease' the pain of this a little I now have an automatic system to restart the services if it notices they have gone down. This means that the site should never be gone for more than 4mins maybe a bit less. Its not ideal I know but it at least keeps things running while I try and sort it out.

If you are around during one of these 4min restarts, go make yourself a coffe and it should beack by the time you return.

I'll keep you posted.

Cheers

I would like to report a problem also, ever since Tamiyaclub came back on-line I seem to have spent far more money than usual on RC kits. [;)]

I may have found a bug.

When I change a picture in my showroom, lets say I replace a photo with a new one the old photo is still shown on the model's showroom page. However if you click to get the big photo it shows the intended photo.

See here:

http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.asp?cid=6671&id=851

Click the bottom photo and compare.

I have seen this now on at least one other model in my showroom.

I have even tried clearing my browser cache and a restart of my borwser. I get this same behavior on both IE (PeeCee) and Safari (Mac OS-X)

Thanks in advance Chris for having a look into it.

Cheers,

I had to restart the server which is what caused this particular error. Hopefully after this weekends upgrade restarts will be a much more rare event. That said I think I might have a scheduled weekly downtime (like ebay) in order to do routine maintanance and a controlled restart.

Cheers
