Hello all,

As you will have gathered we are now back and running off our new servers. First I apologies for the sudden removal of service a couple of weeks ago. I literally got about 30mins warning from the hosting company, seems we had got too big for them to handle quicker that they had anticipated and it was jeopdizing the server (which we shared with lots of other sites) so basically they were getting lots of complaints for their users. We can't be too angry though as by rights they should have closed us down around easter, when we first exceeded our service limits.

Anyway the plugged pulled there was no option but to go for the new dedicated server, which is what has been happening for the past two weeks.

I then had to decide whether to spend two weeks 'fixing' the site to run as was on the old server or 'updating' it with the new features and subscription features in place. I chose the latter as it would have needed doing at some point.

The new hosts then made the new server live a bit earlier than I had anticipated which is why we are still in this 'beta' stage and some items are locked. I'm working hard to fix it - along with a hardcore group of beta testers andy/theo/alan[^]

Now onto the cash bit, the site is now costing me big time, with already £1000.00 invested in it. This costs has to come from somewhere which is where the subscriptions come in. I would have liked to waited until October but basically I just can't afford too which is why they have kicked in now. Sorry about that but there is no way around it - unless someone wants to fund the site out of thier own pocket for the good of us all?

We are in the final stages of testing the payment system, which will be members with paypal only first, then the 'pay for a friend' feature shortly after that.

If you decide you no longer want to be part of the site, I've now opened up the 'delete' feature in the showrooms and traderooms so you can clear you space out if you wish, which will inturn remove you from the site. I truly hope you don't do this and join us in the next phase of tamiyaclubs development, but if you can't the feature is there. Even if you don't subscribe you are welcome to leave your showroom in its frozen state, for now.

Hope you all understand.

Cheers

Chris

Just a quickie...

Will we be getting a Email informing us when the Subcription payment service is open for business?

or will we have to keep checking on on the forum for messages for that eventuality?

As soon as I've got it sorted I will post in the forum first (as this means subscribers will come in gradually at first, so i can wathc them) Then after a day or two I will email everyone with a showroom the payment details

Cheers

Same here.

Thanks again Chris. I did not realize just how much I missed this site. The £15 (about $24US according to www.xe.com) is cheap for what we were getting. The new features are just a bonus in my opinion.

Bravo! [^]

Good question. I'm not sure as i don't get to specify in my system where the money comes from. I assumed it took it from your funds if they were there, if not from your credit card?

Can someone who has subscribed shed any more light?

thanks

Chris, richtea:

I paid via PayPal last night and had no balance in my account, so the payment came off my registered card, so yes, this side of things works fine.
