That’s exciting!

I change my mind occasionally but I do think this is the top of my wanted list. The Avante was the latest, greatest and ultimate buggy just before I packed up my cars the first time around.

I just don’t want to build it yet as I only got my Egress a few months back and I think it will all be downhill after completing these two.

They are two fantastic top of the range buggies without a doubt and an absolute joy to build! But they are definitely not the only two on the top of that list? I think IMO the kyosho optima range is along the side of the avante/egress and if I'm honest could be just that bit better in the quality and build experience? But either way it doesn't have to be a downhill experience after the brilliant avante and egress!

@moffman I was being a little tongue in cheek as I have a very long list of buggies and trucks I would love to build and own. I’m also interested in Kyosho but I’m resisting that urge. For now ;)

Definitely! After building these two it costs overcoming to build RC cars with plastic chassis ;)

Oh yeah I did understand it was tongue firmly in cheek👍 it's a hobby forum so everything is light hearted! And when I built my avante/egress I'd Never built or even entered the likes of a kyosho so I had the exact same thoughts! "How can it get any better than these?" I'm just glad in a way that tamiya hasn't (for now) released any "new" top end quality kits so it make the optima mid a easy choice?

Yes, thanks. Glad we are both thinking along the same lines. It’s surprising how often that’s not the case.

Yes, spot on. I’m newly returning to Tamiya and already spending a small fortune (and most of my spare time) on the basic Tamiya kits. There’s then still a stockpile of vintage classics to catch up on.  God know what happens if they release really good new stuff ;)

Nice, you're a custom color, huh?  Cool.

You know I'm having a hard time deciding now whether I want the black edition Avante or the regular Avante and just paint it factory blue.    I should've grabbed one while my LHS had them in stock..  Now I'm wondering if they would ever get those back in stock..

Snap and I did my one back in 2011 I don't often think there is a better box art colour but the avante in metallic grey just looks so right and should have been the box art👍

I ordered 2 units (same one @Tgrif has) today from a seller in Japan.  :D    He gave me some discount, but the price was still pretty high.

I should have it in a few weeks.  Going to paint mine box art in the blue.. and park her next to my Egress.

(btw, this is all @moffman''s fault  ;) jk ).. I'm not even a buggy guy..

Anyone tried the repo Avante bodies sold on eBay?  Are they any good?

I personally have had no experience of reproduction avante bodies but I have heard that certain ones are a tight fit over the chassis?.......I'll except it's my fault because I know your going to love your kits when they turn up:wub:

Bronco is still coming!!   Just a quick unexpected(?) pit stop.

@moffman Thanks for your info on the repo bodies.   At the end, I decided just going with a spare factory body set.   A car of this caliber deserves factory parts.  :D

I’m going to love this pair..Avante and Egress together.

Regarding PS paint, are you all running PS16 for the blue, or anyone run PS30 (brilliant blue)?

Edit:  I just realized PS30 is not metallic.  I want the metallic flakes in the blue so I suppose I will stick with PS16.

Edit2: Looks like someone's going to be real lucky in UK seeing a NIB for sale.   500pounds shipped is US$670.. heck of a deal considering no-one has these any more and TamiyaUSA officially announced discontinuation.. so will only go up in price.

@moffman  I remember a Tamiya official YT clip where Maezumi-san was explaining the history of the Avante and he brought along that same metallic finish Avante.  :D   He even mentioned that had it not been for Tamiya releasing the Avante, he would've worked somewhere else.

I am sure the limited release holds A LOT of value to Avante fans!!    Congrats for owning one.

For an average bonehead RC guy like me, PS16 shall do!    Haha
