Well the revamped site is up and running............I've paid my subscription.......and started to update my showroom.........all going very well. Well it was until I have started to receive unsolicited emails asking if I'm willing to sell any of the cars in my showroom. I've replied politely to everybody who's asked, but come on guys.......does my showroom look like Frank Butcher's car lot?

If I want to sell something I'll stick it on the trading board or on Ebay or in the local rag. If it's not in one of these then it just ain't for sale!! Sorry guys.

I agree With Wriggle, I Find The How much? E-mails flattering, I myself wouldn't do it but makes my happy to know someone likes my work.

Just my opinion. [:)]

Same here, getting a lot of e-mails like this one

" U got Ferrari 189 I buy How Much????"

" HOW MUCH FOR RANGER XLT"

No "Hi my name is.." There is no way in badword I will sell or trade with people

with no decent manners regardless of how high an offer.

Even trades rooms request are one-liners and when I reply back I very rarely get a reply back even if just to say "NO Thanks"

I guess these people suffer from painful arthritis of their finger joints.

The one liners grate with me too. Not that anyone wants to buy my stuff.

A mate of mine griefs me about selling My Isuzu Mu every time he comes over, saying it's a waste to have it sat on top of the TV (He's probably right) but theres no way I'd sell it to someone just so they can bash it round their garden.

That's exactly what I'm talking about Spice........although to be fair there was a bloke a couple of nights back that did ask politely AND acknowleged my reply.........GOOD ON YA BHUPEN!! - I hope you get what you're looking for soon.

Now Wriggle..........SELL ME THE CLOD 'SHELL!!!! [:D][;)][:(]

i have to say, i've asked a few members to see if they were interested in selling their cars. but it didnt occur to me till recently to reply even if the person did decline my offer.

its very hard not to send an email when you see a model you want. even a long shot might sometimes be worth while. case in point is how i acquired my mclaren mp4/6. i paid a premium, but i got the car i wanted and the seller was extremely nice.

honestly i dont think people sending inquiries about your collection is meant to bother or annoy. i know i'm not trying to get on anyone's nerves. if you really dont want to be bothered with it, block your email or list specifically that none of the cars in the collection are for sale (or except those in the traderooms).

i think it was me who inquired about the ferrari f189 [;)]. still looking but no luck.

Icon, you will be the first to know if and when it comes up for sale, who knows I might sell my entire collection when I move from Japan eventually. [;)]

I've no problems with people enquiring about my models, and totally open to offers but as some people have said word the enquiry politely and you will get better results.

best one is "I want the **** NOW!" that's the entire email, no name, greetings, price, etc [:0]

I dont find them complimentary, I understand where your coming from but when you get an email that says "HELLO, DO YOU STILL HAVE THIS AND HOW MUCH DO YOU WANT FOR IT? THANKYOU" I get annoyed, the person assumes it is for sale I would find it a little easier if they could at least ask if it was for sale!, types in capitals (which I really hate) and doesnt even have the courtousy to give their name.

Sorry Rant over[:D]

Yeah, i can see how that type of enquiry would be not welcomed. I have also gotten ones like that that i couldn't even respond to due to lack of e-mail address.

I still find most Complimentary [:P]

I must confess to finding the short emails very frustrating - I get quite a few of them. If people dont have the coutesy to at least give their name and a simple hello - then why should I bother..I dont have "for sale" in my gallery.......

Now - that being said - when I do get a decent enquiry - I am happy to respond, even if I dont want to sell the car.

People who come at me with the classic one liner(for me anyway)like : "HOW MUCH FOR THE BRUISER or "XYZ"? - I usually just come back with something like: As you are asking me, make me an offer I cant fuse - and be serious about it.........

It is amazing just how many people stop communicating right there...time wasters.

My observations of this topic are that - yes all enquiries are really a bit of a compliment, it just depends on how you want to take them.....and that is something different for ever individual.

Cheers

I Agree with Darryn, most of the time if you bounce the ball back and ask what they want to give for it you don't get any answer at all...

I think most of them hope that once they'll get a reply saying something like: "well, if you want to buy that's great because I don't like it anymore, pay me the shipping costs and you can have it..."

Cheers,

Well as you know I get them for my NIBSS all the time. If they're polite, like the last one, I reply the same way back.

However the one I got when I first won it -was the biggest joke of all.

Off the top of my head -deleted og messageid="green">

Congrats on winning a NIB SS for $70. I'll buy it for $350 USD.

I sent an email back saying no thanks, If I sell it -it will be for the going rate on Ebay.

Reply back - Don't be greedy or something like that.

Now the last email I gotid="purple">

Person was very nice, gave their name and asked if I was interested in selling. <-- I wish all emails were like this. [^]

My pleasure mate - I told you I was passionate for these cars !!

Hence why I dont mind taking the time to package them like I would want them packaged !

What goes around comes around, swings and roundabouts and all that.

I am glad you are happy.

Cheers mate
