OK I've been playing all weekend with upgrading the database. I failed last night and scheduled to try again for tonight. But I'm and impatient guy and had an idea so jumped in Sunday morning to have another go. This time things went a little better.

If you can surf your way around the main site then its all up and running on the new database. Hopefully this will make things better.

For reference the whole site runs off two main databases one for the main site and one for the forums. Both were using an MS Access database to drive them, which is fine until your site reaches a certain size/popularity. We passed that limit.[;)] This is the main suspect in the Freezing bug.

I've now got rid of ACCESS for the main site and replaced it with a proper SQL database which should have enough capacity to last us for years and be more reliable too. That said I have had to change every transaction with the database which is a lot of code changes so there might still be odd things happening - which I need you lot to point out.

I'll let it run like this for a while and once all the conversion bugs are ironed out will have a go at converting the Forum DB. If the site still 'freezes' in the meantime its a good pointer that the problem was actually with the forum and not the main site DB[xx(] in which case out of a 50-50 chance I chose the wrong DB to convert first[8)]

Please list your bugs here.

Chris,

The numbers that my cars have been viewed have gone *** up[8)] most of them now say 68, 97 or 143!Unless lots of people have been viewing by showroom[8D]

LOL, they are definately wrong I only checked my showroom this am and noted that the viewing numbers were definately not this high, most of mine were between 80 and 110. BUT now they are either 670 or 276.[:D]

Don't worry guys - I've reset them to '1' just while i fix the bug. They should return to normal very soon when I get the original figures back out of the old database.

Hi, has anybody else had this problem? if you click on the link (welcome our latest member...) you'll find the members URL is missing the user id so you can't jump to his/her TC homepage. Is it just me?????

This is not a bug as such... All it means is that the person has signed up for the forums only therefore they have no showroom to go and see. Its been like this forever and is not associated with any of the recent changes.

Had this a couple of times now using showroom links, not sure if its covered ground already & sorry if it is (or just me lol) But this time remembered to copy it

ADODB.Recordset error '800a0e7d'

The connection cannot be used to perform this operation. It is either closed or invalid in this context.
