30 something and back again

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone!

A sporting injury has given me some time off so I decided to dig out my 10 year old Keen Hawk DF03 and see if it still runs. Which to my surprise it still did, although the old NIMH batteries weren’t up to much. I also found my old TA02 which I had forgotten about. But that’s in bits.
Brushless was becoming the norm when I last drove my RC cars, and I’m amazed by how much its progressed as I stumbled upon Lipo batteries as well.
So the post man delivered a couple of lipos, a charger and a hobbywing 1060 and I was away, much to the delight of my 8 year old boy!

so after looking through the forums, I have on route a Racing fighter DT03 so we both get to have turns

I’m lucky as I live on a farm, with concrete, gavel and dirt yards plus plenty of grass. We even have a MX track so no doubt the cars will get a bashing!

Welcome back!  The DF03 was the first car I bought when I decided to get back into Tamiya as a 20-something, around 15 years ago.  A great introduction to the hobby.  The DT03 is a great car too, I'm sure you've have a blast racing them around the farm :)

Nice car, @Joe Boy!  And envious you have so many different terrain to drive your RC on right outside your house.   My grand parents were farmers and I had a blast driving my original Brat back in the 80's on dirt.

Sorry to disappoint you @GeeWings, @BuggyDad, @Kol__ and anyone else who was expecting to see a finished buggy this morning.
My wife had work, which I forgot about, so I was on bed time duty’s.
Did get a bit done, but had a few issues with my choice of steering servo, to save posting twice, go and have a look at my build thread, but wait a bit as I haven’t added it yet

Fair enough. But what colour you going to paint it? If you go box art, you won't be able to tell it from your other one! 😜

It’s more then likely going to be blue, I plan a trip to my local model shop tomorrow to see what they have in stock

Lol, I think that would've been a bit of a mission to do it in one late night sitting mate. I built mine over 3 evenings, it was just a more pleasant experience that way:)

We should have a race. "how fast can you build a DT-03?" start with cellophane wrapped box to finished buggy. There would be some mediocre paintwork and wonky stickers...
