@BuggyDad when painting I used Tamiya canned paint.  Getting paint into the duck tail and masking was a nightmare.  I tried to fix it and made it worse.  Will send additional photos later.

Removed section of orange stripe

Repainting made it worse (not shown).  Will add a black decal as a spoiler edge trim similar to the older 911 Turbo’s

Here is a link to another Rallye build with rallye block tires.

The RSR rear wheels are 30mm wide. If in that example the rear tyres look too low prole maybe they're stretched? I have ordered 2 pairs of fronts and the widening rear stub axles to take the track out, in the hope that I can get somewhere near the look and still be able to use standard 26mm tyres. However, I also kind of like the smaller wheel look on that example, because it does give me a sense of function over form and at the same time reminds me a little of 959.

My CC-01 tyres are big diameter. Pretty sure I will have clearance issues with them, but we will see. I have a few configurations to try.

Thanks also for the light cluster info. I can see them at Modelsport where I have a few items in my basket already.

Oh, the large foam bumper was from TT01 truck and cut down.   I am not sure if it is the same for XV01, but I am sure you could modify it to fit.

Fuch wheels are great and come with TT02 kit.  My second car was body only and wheels are $$$ when purchased separately.   Cheaper to take apart a 911 RSR TT02 kit

Aye. I realised this sometime after I'd ordered the body set! However, I sat on a possible order from Tamico for ages, and they have the wheels at a good price, so I found another way in the end.

On XV-01, with its front motor, it has a long nose. I have found my escort shell wouldn't even begin to encase the bumper, Lancia requires most of the bumper to be removed, but RSR should accommodate the whole thing, which is great news.

Ouch. I intend to paint in a single colour.

Ideally I'd love to find a "Safari" side stripe decal in the Carrera font, but so far I've drawn a blank on that.

@BuggyDad only a few items in your basket… 😂   I have too many ideas but not enough time or budget.

A quick google search shows the Tamiya Brat tire outer diameter is 82mm. CC01 Freelander tire diameter is 78mm.  Ford Bronco CC02 is 94mm (looks great but too large).

I could not find rally block tire diameter

I thought about a matte black military stealth look but the shiny window decals would not work. I am intrigued on your final design

I've filled and hit the buy button on too many baskets recently, so time has come to rein it in on budget and I haven't enough time either! This one is repair bits, hanging there in case something else can share the postage.

If you want diameters of rally block and 54735 CC-01 mud blocks I could measure for you. Rally blocks aren't much bigger than road tyres and I suspect those CC-01 ones are close to your 78mm.

Rally block is 70mm OD. 54735 mud block is 86mm. So I reckon that's way too big. 78mm Freelander sounds like the sweetspot. Are they 54598?

@BuggyDad I picked us these for headlights. Also Tamico sells 3D printed ones.  I am sure you can also find free 3D files online as well

Turns out there was one of these on ebay, and it was only 10 mins down the road, so now I've got that too. Thanks! 👍

I kept the front and rear light pods and resold the mirror and rear spoiler to recoup some cost 😬

I thought I might add the mirrors, if they fit. And I wondered what weird thing I could do adding the whale tail to something else!

Your kit should already include the mirrors.  I don’t recall the mirror design being different.  Whale tail should be great and easier to paint than the inside of the polycarbonate.

Good luck

So far so good.  Time consuming on the decals for a road car vs a buggy, esp the window frame.

I picked up the wrong pin striping between the orange and corse grey.  Project paused for now

Thank for this great work.

It inspired us to convert a 911 GT3 992 into a 2023 Dakar.
Thank you so much.

Oh that would be great.  Would you use retro livery?   Send photos.  I may do one myself but running out of shelf space 😂

Thank you.
My son wanted an extra chequered pattern for his birthday. Then it's time for the conversion work.you can find the rims for free at thingiverse.
The roof rack is still a challenge, as we don't have an idea for the design yet.

Pictures will follow as soon as possible
