Top force evo gear diffs

Recommended Posts

Can someone please give me the part numbers from the manta ray that are needed to make my evo with gear diffs?

Sorry for super newb question as I only have very  limited knowledge of buggies, but is this gear diff change intended for brushless setup?

I'm about to build mine running a SuperStockBZ.. had no plan to swap any parts.  TIA.

I am running a 4600kv in my evo and just incase the ball diff goes I want to be prepared. I actually have the stock spur and 18t pinion in it now. The high speed gear set is just  nuts and i also had to turn the castle esc down.

I think even with my SuperStockBZ the stock ball diff loosened up after maybe 5 runs.. Not enough to slip, but I need to go back and tighten the rear..

This is my fresh build.. finished today.  I love this car!

Those are the same size as the M03/M05 m-chassis diffs?  If so I have those NIB.

Or I should just swap out to the gear diff (I have a bunch of those as I have a decent M-chassis collection) and run a dab of diff putty..?

With no slipper, I would stick to ball diffs.  Top Force, TA02 / 03 ball diffs hold up pretty well.

Gear diff with putty in the back if you want to power oversteer and drift like crazy !  😀

I don’t plan on making the rear diff that stiff, was thinking just a little dab of the putty to have some resistance, but not by much.

To make a gear diff 50529 and 50602.  might as well get the high speed gear set while available 47393.

On towerhobies website it says that 47393 cannot be used with Manta Ray and Top Force Models

Tamiya TA02 High Speed Gear Set | Tower Hobbies

Tamiya 47393 - TA02 High Speed Gear Set (rcjaz.com)

but here lists is as working with them: Tamiya 47393 Ta02 High Speed Gear Set TFE Top Force Evolution Super Parts for sale online | eBay

For part 50529, a slip of paper in it says "Not compatible with 1/10 R/C off-rad buggies."  But I also see it for sale specifically listing that it will work with Manta Ray: Tamiya 50529/9335153/9335157 4WD Touring & Rally Car Plastic Gear Set, TA01/TA02 | eBay and TAMIYA 300050529 – TA-01/TA-02 Gear Set Manta Ray : Arts, Crafts & Sewing (amazon.com)

@MICHAELs TopForce17 Am I missing something?

I guess I am confused due to the conflicting information.

Edit: more searching has yielded this thread:

It works and fits in the manta ray and top force. also better than the aluminum part it replaces.

I confirm that. Works just as well on buggies. If your gearbox cover is in a good shape it will last, too.

I remember being quite surprised when I read the statement that says it's no good for off road. Tamiya gets randomly weird at times.

I got a 50529, but the aluminum gear isn’t present and is listed as aluminum.  Where do I get a plastic replacement?

edit: Or is it a single replacement of them both for the one spur-ish gear?  Aka, directions are hard to read.

Yes, it is the single replacement that large one piece spur.

Thanks.

Is there a more current hopup for 53072?  (Rc Manta Ray Diff Ball/Plate).  It is the ball diff rebuild kit, but tamiyausa has it as discontinued.

https://www.tamiyausa.com/shop/option-parts/rc-manta-ray-diff-ballplate/

Edit: while I'm asking, does Tamiya 53663 (OP663) Ball Diff. Set (TT-01 / TGS) (My application is TT-02B), does Tamiya offer a rebuild, or do you have to keep buying the conversion kit?

9415283 is the part Number for the balls and plates in the diff.

If you alredy have a EVO, you have the best diff in the line. The aluminium parts are more precise regards tolerances etc.

You can use harder  balls 53379 if you want to upgrade.

I can't find anyone selling 9415283 or even a valid reference to what is in it.  Is this just the part number on the bag in the kit?  I'm guessing the only way tamiya sells that is in the kit?  (Not as a spare part?)

Are the metal parts in 9415283 not the same as 53070?  Is 53070  not aluminum?

Edit: I found a german site that cross reference 9415283 with 53267.

https://www.modellbau-seidel.de/index.php?firma=Tamiya&best=9415283#bild  (this looks like what I want)

Leads me to this:

https://www.tamiyausa.com/shop/option-parts/rc-ta03-ball-differential-set/ (this has extra parts and is more expensive)

9415283 is a spare part from a kit. Seems it's not offered in the USA.

If you only need the thrust washers and balls 9804400 and 53379 are you parts. 53379 is a upgrade over the steel ones.
