I have to agree with stulec52, after coming out of a 12 year hiatus from the hobby it’s great to see Tamiya putting out something other than another Subaru bodied touring car. I’ll probably buy one when they are released to replace my Vanquish as my runner, even though the body is awful.

Mike,

good to see there's someone else based in this cold northern country now too !!

I actually don't mind the body all that much, the colours could make a world of difference.

or you could always modify a XX4 or CAT 3000 body to fit.

Stulec 52, I agree that if it was a single colour, say red to imitate the orginal hot shot, it would look much better. There were photos of the baja king, posted here previously, with a mono-cromatic body and it look good. Include a driver and it would be imporved even more.

A proline 1/8 buggy body might be able to get a on there as well, they look pretty good but I guess it depends on the wheel base etc.

A 1/8th body would not fit on there at all(and I happen to think that they are horrid anyhow), I would think you would be hard pushed to find a body that would come close to fitting, only ones I can think of are the Losi XX and Kyosho Zaboon, but whats the point anyway ?

the point is to make an individual car.

Also some of the 1/8th scale bodies might be made to fit, but I think they would still end up being too big, and just because you think they are horrid does not mean everyone else does.

Losi XX might fit, but losi stopped making those a while ago so might not be as easy to find, and as they are 2 wd the body is not as wide at the front end.

I am just excited to see where Tamiya go with this new chassis, I am always interested to see what our favourite manufacturer will come up with next... they so far have started the buggy craze, the monster truck craze the f 1 craze and the touring car craze, I wonder what will be next....

HI!

My opinion is that TAMIYA should make an off road car from the TB chassis. The belt system is not so POP at this time. It is more shaft now.

1 - I know all about making individual cars, trust me. and I think you kinda answered my entire point about the 1/8th bodies(They arnt 1/10th so whats the point, they will never fit)

2 - I know that, thats not the point.

3 - I meant the XX4, like you already said earlier.

but on the whole I am in the same frame of mind as you on the matter of Tamiya "reviving" the buggy kraze, lets wait and see.

NEO X X X X ...

I could not believe, that such big company can produce such terrible looking buggy.

Each of us, I believe, can think up at least more inteligent body than this...

Yup, to be different... [;)]

Jason, I knew you'd be interrested in this car. Not because it so nice but because it's another one that perfectly fits the 'wldnas museum of oddball RC car designs'... [:P] LOL

[^]been waching this thread for a while and with you 100%, recently been considering a new 4wd buggy but baja king is all that comes close[8)], but close inspection of this chassis makes me think 'wait for this one and botch a better body on it' think I could be waiting a while though.

its a shame these type of cars have lost their rear guard / cage bumper type setups too, they all seem so incomplete at each end.
