Hello, first time post!

I have been sitting on a Countach that I bought probably 10+ years ago, but life and kids kept it on the shelf.  I'm ready to dust it off and get to work on it.

When I originally bought it, I wanted to paint it yellow and bought the PS6 spray.  The old guy in the shop told me if I wanted to make it accurate like the real thing I should use this other yellow.  In my stubborn "youth" I ignored him and bought the PS6 anyway.  I'm curious now, what the other yellow would have been?  I feel like it was the PS19 but that looks too dark?  I've looked at the specs for the XB built, but it doesn't specify which yellow paint.  Anybody know?

In case you were wondering why I can't just compare it myself -  I'm colour blind, so its making it a little difficult!  Thanks so much in advance...

Welcome to the forum! It's great to see some sport-car kits getting some attention :)

I believe PS-6 would indeed match the yellow Countach factory color best since it is a very bright yellow. Unfortunately I don't own any cars in PS-6 to compare but I do have a Porsche in PS-19 Camel Yellow, which is the color used on the Lotus F1. It does have a tint of orange which I believe would not match the yellow you are looking for. Still a nice color though:

Yellow is one of the toughest colors to get solid. I anticipate you would probably use about 3/4 of the can, followed by another 2/3 of PS-1 White as backing color. You can then follow with 2 mist coats of PS-5 Black to give it fully non-translucent feel.

If the plastic bits of the Countach body are already moulded in yellow plastic, you can leave them be, or for a better finish you can sand them with 1500-2000 grit paper and then coat them with TS-13 Clear. Even better yet, you can sand them, prime them white, then paint with TS-16 Yellow, which would match the PS-6 from the body.

Back in the day I was also lucky to get this now hard-to-get kit. Mine was the white version, but painted it in PS-3 Light Blue (body) and TS-23 Light Blue (plastic bits):

*EDIT: Look online for pictures of Tamiya's Suzuki Swift M05 for reference. This car calls for PS-6 Yellow.

PS6 is a very bright yellow, shadewise it matches a lot of 'yellow' parts (wheels are moulded in yellow, not painted)

Camel yellow (used on the lexan top shell below) is darker - a bit more like Colmans mustard

The lower part is bright yellow moulded plastic, but close to PS6 shade

I'm colourblind too, but used to use PS6 a lot as it was closest to most 'yellow' things, especially Tamiya parts like wheels on Lunchbox etc.
