RC Perspective's TT02 Aero parts and more! Free!

Recommended Posts

Hey peoples.

A few months back I got tired of waiting for someone else to design some 3D printed parts for the TT02. So I figured I'd jump in.

I'm still new to CAD, but I have fabricated and built things in the past and have a good handle on Mechanical Engineering. (If you've read through some of my other threads you'll know I consider myself a Jack-of-all trades)

I have a Monoprice MP10 3D printer with a 300mmX300mm bed. It's a basement bargain printer and it shows LOL. I waste alot of filament and go through lots of clogged nozzles. I'm planning on upgrading, but financially that's not going to happen for a bit. This printer, while not producing top notch quality prints, produces decent and strong prints, and is good enough for prototyping.

So I started to do what I do best; Teach myself and experiment. Play around with Tinkercad and start learning the ins and outs. I started by modifying others designs to get started. Then when I was ready I grabbed the calipers and started taking measurements on the TT02 chassis.

I started out with a splitter for the Audi body that someone else designed. I remixed it and added cutouts to clear the tires at full lock, countersunk holes for mounting from underneath, and reduced the height of the mounting posts and bar, to bring it closer to the body.

I also used the Audi splitter file to make a splitter for the TT02/EVO VII WRC combo. Also I started making a version for the Porsche bodies, but it is currently listed as a generic splitter and is a work in progress.

From scratch I designed Side Skirts that will fit several different bodies for the TT02, though there is a set specifically for the EVO and Audi bodies, they should fit many others. I kept these simple. You can mount with Superglue, E6000, or use double sided Gorilla tape like I do.

Also from scratch, I designed Rear Diffusers for use without the rear bumper assemblies. They mount with 2 screws to the bumper plate. These are designed for the Evo body and Audi body. Multiple versions included. With and without exhaust cutout for the Audi body. For the EVO body, there is a version that mounts specifically on the Yeah Racing Adjustable Toe Mount, and a version to fit on the kit bumper mount. These may fit various other bodies as well.

I remixed someone's front bumper plate design and added the second set of holes on the bumper plate, and added a little Tamiya Twist to the part, Hopefully you like it.

And last but not least, I remixed someone's 911 Carrera RSR headlight design to have one hole for an LED, instead of 3 holes for LEDs, should you want that classic look.

I only have 3 TT02 chassis, and 3 different bodies, so some feedback would be AMAZING on what these currently do and do not fit when it comes to the different bodies. I'd like to make some more generic versions to fit some more bodies.

So feedback is welcome.

And these parts are free, and will always be free. I want to give back to the community that is so awesome in their ideas and sharing information and techniques. There is a donation link on the parts if you would like to buy me a coffee, or toss me some change for my time or printer consumables that's cool too. But honestly, it's truly free; You don't have to donate a thing. Although donations would really help with the further development of new things, and more bodies to design aero parts for.

I'll try to keep this thread updated with pics and new parts I design for the TT02.

I print in PETG, 35% or more infill.

All parts pictured are cleaned, but raw. None have been sanded or painted unless noted.

TT02/1991 Audi V8 Aero kit.

I have remixed a Front Splitter that someone has already created for the TT02/1991 Audi V8. I added cutouts for those that run wider wheels, so the tires don't rub the splitter at full lock. Also countersunk the holes for mounting from the bottom so the screwhead is flush if you choose to mount from the bottom. Slightly reduced the height of the attachment points to bring the splitter close to the body.

Side Skirts for the Audi are a little more narrow than the EVO side skirts, but overall the same shape.

2 Diffusers for the Audi body. One with an exhaust cutout, one without. Both mount to the rear bumper plate and do not allow for use of the rear bumper assembly.

TT02/Evo VIII WRC Aero kit.

Here are some pics of the Aero parts for the TT02/EVO VII WRC body combo. The splitter pictured is a previous revision. The newest revision (V2) has the side angles cut back further to match the nose. Also, these side skirts pictured are a previous revision. The released version does not have the long, outside tabs as most bodies vary in width on the sides, so this was an effort to make sure they'll fit more bodies.

Top Bumper Plate.

Here is my remixed top bumper plate, with both sets of holes in the model for extra support on the mounting points.

I'll post the wider post brace as soon as I upload it. It's another remix that's 30mm tall, But you can resize it on only the Z axis to keep the width the same while altering the height.

Well got some bad news. Printer finally gave up the ghost.

I think I have finally figured out a prototype for diffuser mounting while using the rear bumper assembly. It's a simple design. Unfortunately I won't upload it until I get another printer, or figure out what host of issues is going on with mine, to print and test it out, and that may be awhile.

Kinda stinks too cause it looks like I might have nailed it on the first try. I know my measurements are close on the diffuser, but don't want to release it until I know it fits the rear of the 911 I designed it for.

Until I get it printed and give it a test fit, I can't really go on making it for other bodies as well :/

I will keep you all updated tho!

Until then though I guess you all just have to wait in suspense LOL. I know its killing me not being able to print and test this out haha.

Stay Tuned!

(I will work on uploading a few things I have made and printed that came out well already, So its not like I won't be posting anything.)

EDIT - 6 hours later and a fresh day with ideas. I may have once again breathed life back into my 3D printer. Man what a trooper this thing is! I'm not gonna say its fixed until I get a few good prints out of it, But so far it seems to actually be printing better than before!

Well as long as I babysit this thing and fine tune the bed at the start of the print, it prints ok. Though I only have about 30% of the build surface to utilize as a few prints where it dove the print bed, the prints are fused with the bed LOL. At least the replacement bed is less than $20.

Good news is I made good progress on the 911 splitter and diffuser! A few more tweaks of the diffuser and I will be uploading it.

The mounting system I came up with for the bumper assembly mounted diffuser works great and allows for selection of the height of the diffuser! Just gotta draft up a few more variations for the multiple heights and the 911 stuff will be posted. Look for an update over the next few days when I have time.

1973 911 RSR Carrera TT02 Aero parts

I have finally released the Splitter and rear Diffuser for the 911.

The diffuser is mounted to the bumper assembly, and the sandwich mounts for it go in place of the bumper foam.

Will release a standard diffuser in the future, that mounts the same as the previous ones.

Front Splitter -

20220606-082236.jpg

And the diffuser needs some trimming and a little added to the sides to properly fill the body. Also need to tweak the exhaust openings just a little so I can mount the tips on the diffuser instead of the body. The mounting system works great!

20220606-082302.jpg

20220606-082331.jpg

There are two variations on the mounting system.

One is for MID mounting, or in the middle of the bumper assembly, just print the MID file and you'll get these -

mid.png

One is for HIGH or LOW mounting, and you flip the mount upside down to choose between the higher height, or lower height, print the HIGHLOW file and you get these -

highlow.png

And as you can see, the diffuser has a tab, this tab gets sandwiched between the mounts and the mount slides on the posts on the bumper assembly -

bumper-mounted-diffuser.png

Now, I made the fins on this diffuser extra thick, as I plan on drifting this so this diffuser is more for looks and strength.

Will have future revisions based on feedback on this diffuser.

Mounts and/or diffuser may need slight filing, and if the diffuser is loose in the mount, you can take up the gap with some Kapton or suitable tape.

Looks like I'll either need to buy some more bodies to design more specific kits, Or if anyone would be willing to donate some old bodies thet'd be awesome. I know most of you are in Europe, so US shipping wouldn't be the cheapest. But no worries. One way or the other I will get some other bodies to design off of.

I have added and uploaded Front Splitter Version 4.

Upon some hard bashing I discovered the splitter can completely break away from the mounting posts. So I have reinforced the mounting posts. (Going to do the same to the EVO splitter and round nose splitter).

I have also made the front splitter a little longer, so it'll stick out a little further from the lip.

Hard bashing has proven that the added reinforcement works. I haven't broken this one yet!
