Lunchy 27 Posted June 3, 2022 Hello - I have a set of wheels that I just painted black. I wanted to do a wash or something to make them look more realistic... or weathered. Does anyone know what wash color you would use on black paint. The paint I used is Tamiya Black.
Busdriver 6209 Posted June 4, 2022 A very light dry brush with silver can work. It highlights the edges and makes them look less plasticky. Beware though make sure 99% of the paint is off the brush before you do it. If you make a mess simply repaint black and start again!!
Lunchy 27 Posted June 4, 2022 I'll give it a whirl... thanks!
OoALEJOoO 3127 Posted June 4, 2022 I'll second @Busdriver's suggestion. You can try silver or also a darker gun-metal. It will give black rims a fantastic chrome-ish finish while keeping them black.
Busdriver 6209 Posted June 4, 2022 There are various tutorials on YouTube on this type of effect. The mantra to bear in mind is “Less is More” .
