New Super Clod Buster

I know there has been low areas on the hood in the shape of the screw bosses molded underneath them that show up after painting  if they aren't filled/sanded with spot putty first. These have been there at least since the original release of the Super Clod Buster (the one that still had a mechanical speed controller) so I don't consider them to be anything new.

Exactly.  I've had to fill at least the hood on every Clod body I've ever painted.   I think people on FB like to whine about anything they can.  They're disappointed that the body "must be painted" and are claiming what's the point of a gray edition if you need to paint the body gray anyway.  These are models and should be treated as such.  Sure, you can put any model kit together that's molded in color but it will look like crap unless its properly painted/coated.  FB is really annoying at times, I just keep exiting groups that annoy me and it looks like the Clod group is next on the list.

That is a bummer. Looks like a lot of the RC monster truck content moved there. I've never done "the Facebook" myself, despite the temptation. Even from an organizational standpoint, I prefer forums.

I totally agree on the painting thing. The only time I don't paint a colored body is if its destined to be a pure basher, in which case I certainly wouldn't complain about a few mold marks anyway. Some people love to complain.

Yes, I can confirm those are still there and have always been unfortunately.

Come to think of it, there were some tiny excess bits of flat plastic on the edge/bezel on the front window on one corner that were easily removed with a modeling/exacto knife before painting but other than that, a simple white priming then paint on a sunny outdoor day did the job well.

Same here.

I thought about not painting it either but I'm glad I did. The matte texture alone PLUS the fact that the color of the "suggested" Gunship Grey paint is MUCH deeper in color than the grey color that it comes in. The box art itself is also indicative of that as well.

In addition to the paint job, if you do not paint it, the decal’s own grey color in between would not match up properly with the plastic grey color of the body.

There are some decent groups, but there are a lot of annoying things about it.  I was forced to create my own account after my wife got sick of me using her Marketplace.  Glad I did as its been useful but I dont spend a ton of time on there.  I much prefer forums as well, much better organization and people actually write in complete sentences.  Which brings me to another point...after being on FB for a few months I am worried about the general education level of the public.  Complete sentences, proper spelling, and punctuation are completely missing for the most part.  Not that everyone needs to be a scholar, but sometimes I can barely even understand what these people are posting.  Thanks goodness there are pictures.

For basher bodies I will sometimes not paint as well, but even then I'll give the plastic a nice polish to get some shine out of it.  Either way, if you want it to be perfect there's no way around painting it.  Complaining that its not "finished" out of the box is absurd in my opinion.

Haha so true, i can vouch as my wife is a teacher and more importantly a reading specialist that we are doomed as a country on an educational level. Covid and kids home from school some over a year amplified that.  Kids with phones and social media basically set us back years. A large percentage of kids are way behind on reading levels.

Yea, its unbelievable...CEO of our company hired a younger assistant a few years back that basically emailed in text speak.  I was so put-off by it I told him I would not respond to her inquiries unless it was presented in proper fashion.  She's since learned how to write in English which is nice, haha.  Unreal how some people communicate these days.

Forgot to look for those LMT parts last night, I should be out in the garage tonight so I'll take a look.

Hey.  there! Finally got mine done and some good weather to paint the body. Love Tamiya paints as they are easy to use, dry fast and look good. I painted the body and decaled it all in the same day. Running stock motors, THW880 esc which is great. Spektrum SR315 receiver, radio is a Spektrum DX5Pro, steering servo is a JX Servo BLS-HV7146MG 46kg Brushless off Amazon. Awesome servo. Led lights in the grille, made a tail lamp holder out of poster board and rocks lights from Club 5. Lights have resistors already soldered in so they can just plug right into the receiver. It's a 9 out of 10. I nicked the hood and the paint was soft. I dabbed it and will try again. Need a decal or two to place on the hood. I didn't paint a few things on the body. Love the color. I had a cut to size aluminum poster frame made so I could display the box art.

I realy like the look of the new Clods, but i realy don't need another one.

My Wife would kill me :D

Also i realy do not like how Stock Clods perform. They are slow and bouncy.

A Lot of people Like that bouncynes....

I don't get it :D

I always put oilshocks on my Clods.

I Install metal antirotationbracets.

I Install hotter Motors, Tamiya 25 Turn Motors for instance.

I use a longer Wheelbase with a chassisextension er made from metal.

And because my oilshocks are super soft, i use stabilizers made from pianowire.

I think with hat mods the Clod Looks stockish enough, but they perform Like a Dreams.

Haha.. Well they are big and beautiful that captures the 80s era of Monster trucks so nicely. I think that’s what draws me to them so much. 😀

I forgot to mention that in my build, I ended up using a TEU-106BK in mine since I wasn’t a fan of how short the Hobby Wing supplied ESC’s power switch wire was, so it would not reach the chassis’ precut holes that were originally marked for them. I also wanted to place the “on/off” switch stickers on the chassis as well, where it should belong but really couldn’t due to the short wire limitation.

Yeah, i don't know either where to Put the Hobbywings ESC....

I don't get why people buying a Clod, buy an Aftermarket chassis Like the Regulator and then use the Standard pogos :D

I would love to use a Regulator, but only if there was a Version with an extended Wheelbase and half the price.

I use the Standard plastic Chassis all 3 of my clods, but oilsprings are a must have for me.

With the Regulator the stock springs work perfectly, especially if you get the foam combo right.  I personally run TXT-2 shocks on my Regulator but have run stock and they work really well.  It's a completely different chassis than stock and if you know how to tune a race truck it works perfecly with friction dampers.

You can get extension kits for the Regulator, either 1" or 2".  Working on a 1" stretch Regulator now for outdoor racing.  Mean Duck R/C on FB makes and sells them, only $20 or so.

Actually, thats hard to believe :D

And when i watch the Regulator with standard Pogos, they seem to not perform as good as the original high center of gravity chassis.

Standardchassis with oilshocks, but without stretch:

But maybe it`s highly subjective....

Thats not mine.

The Videodescription says:

Just a quick video of my brushless Clod. Dual 4300kv brushless, 2s lipo, oil filled shocks, Renegades/Tributes

I use 2 25 Turn Tamiya Motors in my Bigfoot with the Standard ESC and 2 HPI Firebolt 15t Motors in my Carolina Crusher.

This ClodBuster looks so good I bought another one, so I have two new in box, one Super Clod and a Black Edition in the box. I just finished building a Blue Super Clod which is getting the MCI original Clod decals put on it. It should look sweet. Love the Clods and the HW ESC is so nice in these.

I have one of these.

It is said that these are a collaboration between Tamiya and horizon/tower hobbies, only available in the United States. They still have them for sale at tower.

Ive known of people buying these and shipping them to their fellow hobbyist in other countries

Almost certainly it has nothing to do with Horizon Hobbies, as the "Only in the USA" thing is a falsity.  The Grey Edition is a North America release, and is widely available in Canada (where Tamiya comes from a different distributor).  Just my 2-cents...

I don't think its available in the UK? It's a good looking truck just not my thing but I've never seen it in any UK shops which is a shame for the people who would like it in other parts of the world!

Correct, it is North America only.

It's a cool looking truck, and the fact that my LHS has them on the shelf keeps tempting me to pick up another to keep NIB, or to pass on to an overseas buyer (of course shipping these days is no nuts it's likely cost prohibitive on something as big as a clod...).
