Bodyshell Paint

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

Just a quick one as someone who is relatively new to racing, but can anyone explain to me the current trend of body shell painting where all the pros race cars painted a single colour? Historically, people used to have bright, technical designs like Marc Reinhard's bodies from back in his TRF days, but even he's gone to a single colour now.

Previously, I'd spoken with a painter who told me that he advises a split design with light colours or white by the front wheels and a contrasting rear as it aids in knowing your car's orientation if you spin/crash, but I'm assuming this isn't a problem for pros.

Anyway, that was my question, hope you're all well!

Luke

Because it's cheap, easy and bodies don't last long. Also very slightly lighter.

You'll see more fully painted shells at big events or in the finals but on practice days it's mostly single colours.
