12mm hex conversion for the DT02/03 - download

Recommended Posts

I have now used craftcloud3d.com to find someone to print 3d items a couple times now.  Upload what you want to print and several places will give you quotes.  There are several people out there trying to make a buck on small projects, and so far it has been a little cheaper than shapeways was.

I was hoping that... Shapeways was among the most expensive. THE most expensive when you factor in shipping. It's a shame they couldn't do what they did for less... because their products were top notch.

I'm definitely looking into Craftcloud3D.com ...

@SlideWRX, Thank you for sharing the file! I recently purchased a 3D printer and immediately printed the hubs. They turned out quite well. I’ll update you later on whether they survive after installation.  :)

Hello everyone, I just published my design for hex conversion on www.Makerworld.com while knowing well that the recently released DT-04 parts would most likely be a direct fit. 🙂

If you have access to a 3D printer please give it a try since it’s free to download and print.

@SlideWRX, after multiple design iterations, it’s surprising how my final design looked very similar to your previously published design in terms of clearances and the ball stud attachment strategy. It makes me believe that you too must have gone through similar challenges as I did when you first released your design. :)spacer.png

Yeah, trying to fit those things inside the stock C-hub was virtually impossible.  Keeping the pin/screw installation meant the axle could not line up with the steering pin, and the lack of space kinda set a limit of where the pieces could go.   I like your re-design of the C-hub.  I wish Tamiya had just given us a few more millimeters of height like that back when they originally designed it, and things would have been much easier!
