I have been a Tamiya fan pretty much my whole life, but I remember back in the day seeing posters for Ninjas and thinking it was just the coolest thing ever. Penguin have started doing a repro shell, so does anyone know whether there is a tamiya it might fit on? Maybe a DF01 or Thundershot chassis?

I'm betting it'll 'fit' on most, but whether it looks right or not ,is a different story.

Not sure if the Thundershot ,would look like a Thunder Dragon with the Ninja body on?

Loved the Ninja (did a build thread somewhere on here), Marui managed to capture the 'want factor' in their advert in mags, even though I don't recall any promo vids, like the tamiya ones playing endless loops in the model shops..

For me, it was the red/black combo that worked, the red wheels and shocks ,split up by the black tyres, wishbones and black body, finished with the red pin stripe, was just right.

I think shapeways do 3d printed wheels, but they're a slot drive (same as the original), maybe boomerang wheels and red rit dye might work..🤔

Thanks. I'll have a think.

Kyosho Turbo Ultima rear wheels would look great, if they were available in red, or white that could be dyed red...

I don't have much else to add, other than you aren't the only one who has thought of this... :D  Do it!!

Edit: the Ninja had a 265mm wheelbase according to the manual.

Available in white, from the Kyosho RS200 (#FD-2), finding a set might easier said than done!

Edit - or just look on ebay...🤦‍♂️

The Ninja is unique in the way that it has separate splayed rear damper towers.  The Tamiya 4wd buggy models all look to have a single towers of varying heights.  The VQS or Bigwig look like canidates to fitting the Ninja body but some unique trimming around the rear damper tower would be needed.  Of all the current Tamiya line up available, I’m betting the Bigwig would land you closest to reasonable body fitment. The Bigwig wheels are similar too.
