The Mini 4wd thread!

@TurnipJF they look very cool. The SHERP looks like something out of Thunderbirds or Space 1999, awesome :)

Hi

Does anyone know if the annual official guide book for Mini 4WD is also published in English?

Thanks

No, but I ordered a few of the 2024 books. Google Translate will be helping me here.

Exactly, Google Translate works wonders.  I am getting a lot out of these magazines.  I bought a few past years too.  Sometimes you just need pictures in front of you more than having to start and stop YouTube videos.

@alvinlwh Thanks! One more stupid question: how do you use google translate? Is the guide book published as a PDF? I can only see it as a hardcover.

Use camera mode Or picutue mode. It is seriously great. For example, I got this paint set 20 years ago, before Google Translate. I had to beg my sister to translate for me.

These days I just use Google Translate.

Camera mode:

This is a live translation of whatever the camera is pointing at. Does not work that great on text like these. More useful for live translation of, for example, signs while on holiday of less words. It is harder to read a lot of text and you have to keep the phone really still.

Photo mode:

Snap a picture of whatever you want to translate. Open camera mode on Google Translate and select picture from camera roll. You can zoom in and out of the picture to read.

Here is another example of it working straight in Chrome off Google Image Search.

It is a life saver when trying to cook food with only Japanese instructions.

These three are all plasticard. All are vigorous runners. None have broken.

Is plasticard same as styrene sheets ('evergreen' etc)? If so which thickness do you use? I always wanted to make a body out of styrene. Imagine something like a DeLorean... would be so cool! 😀 I think there was a tutorial on Tamiyabase half a million years ago for a project along those lines, possibly with plans published by Tamiya even... 🧐 But I can't find it now.

Holy Moly! Thats amazing! I had no idea it could do that. I'm going to have to give that a try on some of the Tamiya instructions as soon as I get home. Thanks @alvinlwh
