Top Force motor and gearing help

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I have just finished a new top force evo but need some help with motor and gearing set up.

I have installed a Tamiya Super Stock RZ motor, but dont really know what gearing to go for and whether to run on 2s or 3s lipo.

I want it to run well on buggy track type driving, so not bothered about top speed.

Thanks.

It’s not recommended to run a superstock motor on a 3 cell, the brushes won’t last long at all.

I haven’t run a brushed motor in my Evos for a long time but standard spur and somewhere between a 19-21 tooth pinion on a 2 cell with the RZ

I recommend you purchase all the optional pinion sizes. For ideal performance changing pinion for the conditions/locations should be part of pre-running setup. A complete pinion set should be useable on most Tamiya cars (0.6 module is most common).

Gearing to keep your motor cool will make all of your equipment last longer and will also increase performance of your runs.

Setup gearing beforehand, and run your batteries hot off the charger!
