DF03 Shocks

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know where I can get a set of original plastic Tamiya CVA shocks for DF03 buggy? I’m rejuvenating my Keen Hawk and the rear shock in particular are knackered, both shaft are corroded and slightly bent and some of  the plastic mounting eyes have got stripped threads.

I did buy a set of  aluminium Fastrax brand shocks, but they are a bit cheap and nasty , not quite the right length and will be awkward to fit properly so decided just to go stock.

The genuine Tamiya hop up alumium DF03 shocks are widely available, but insanely priced, so I just want regular plastic ones.

I think you will struggle to find a complete set unless someone who has upgraded happens to sell theirs off second hand, your best bet is to just rebuild yours with some new parts and try to spend as little as possible,

If you use ebay,

here is the main parts bag for the dampers; https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/264689375763?epid=1026226573&hash=item3da0b75a13:g:LfcAAOSw9wxeiG6D

and here is the parts tree for the mounts; https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/394068273239?hash=item5bc04ca857:g:xvcAAOSw0EJie62t

If you look around you might find them slightly cheaper but you are probably looking at about £20.

you should be able to re-use your shock bodies and e-clips so you will just need some damper oil which if you bought the kit you will have enough left over to re-fill all four again.

Hi @Bluest2

Probably worth checking out the manual...if you don't have a hard copy there's a PDF here:

https://www.tamiya.com/english/rc/rcmanual/58370impact.pdf

The plastic V, W, X and Y parts are all readily available, either from Tamico if you're in Europe or jk-rc.co.uk here in the UK. Not sure where you're based, sorry!

Then you'll need the hardware bag as @Rich_8717 linked to above (Tamico also have it for €10) or to buy the rods, seals and springs separately using the part numbers in the manual

So if you're in the UK, you're looking at £11 at jk-rc for the plastic parts and £13 at eBay for the hardware bag

Or in Europe the whole lot will set you back €28 from Tamico

I think if you just want all new stuff, I think 50519 and 50520 are the part numbers you want.

Rcjaz have both in stock

https://www.rcjaz.com.au/tamiya-50520-cva-short-shock-unit-set-ii-p-3689.html

https://www.rcjaz.com.au/tamiya-50519-sp519-cva-mini-shock-ii-p-3688.html

could also go this route

https://www.rcjaz.com.au/tamiya-54567-dt03-cva-damper-set-p-90064984.html
but you’ll have to buy shafts if you want the proper plastic pistons.

been using these guys for 10+ years, my preference over rcmart these days.

Thanks guys, I think that's all the part numbers I need. My mistake was I was searching for the shocks as a set, didn't think to look for the individual bits
